Can 3/2 BJ be found in multideck games on the strip for the minimum bets? Someone told me 6/5 BJ is really only found in single and double deck games on the strip. Is there any general truth to this? Thanks.

Yes, you can find 3/2 in lower limit games (5 if its not busy, 10 otherwise).

But there are plenty of 6:5 shoe games too, especially in the various "party pits".

You just have to look around and pay close attention before buying in.

3/2 at lower levels is mostly found at MGM properties. CET is mostly 6/5 at the lower levels.

Since you were asking earlier about NYNY, you'll find plenty of 3-2 BJ right in your hotel. $5 weekdays and early weekend mornings, $10 or up to $15 when it's busy.

At least at MGM joints, unless it's a single/double-deck game or there are half-naked women dancing in front of you, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a 3:2 game at whatever their lowest minimums are.

    Thanks

This is all great news. Hopefully the Vegas execs are getting the message that 6/5 is no good, but then again it has been around for a few years. I just don't understand why anyone would play this type of game......

If there's smokin' hot chicks dealing cards and smokin' hot chicks dancing in a cage in the middle of the pit, I'm more than happy to give up the occasional $2.50 on the BJ wins. It's a luxury I'm willing to pay for.

I'm sure this has been discussed many times. But what is the big deal about 6:5 BJ? How many times in say an hour of play do you get a BJ? Is it worth walking all over the city to find a 3/2 table? I like single deck, which is mostly 6/5, but I get my odds back with card counting. Did I sat that?:licklips:

The expectation is that you will see 3 to 4 blackjacks per hour.

If you are playing blackjack at $5 per hand then you are giving up $1.50 each time a blackjack comes up... so based on expectation that would amount to $5.25 per hour.

So its pretty close to 1 betting unit per hour you would be giving up.

How worth it depends on the person, how much you play and how much you spend to get there... like if you are looking for a $5 game and have to spend $15 in cab fare to get there and $15 back then you need to play for a minimum of 6 hours just to have your expected savings cover the cost of your cab fare, any less and it would have been smarter to play the 6/5 game.

After reading this I can now see the logic of 6/5. This would be the only time I play 6/5. Stayed away like the plague in the miami hard rock casino.

The math is pretty easy. 6-5 blackjack pays 1.3% less than 3-2. At $5 bets, 60 bets an hour, that's $300 at risk. So It's costing you $3.90 an hour.

Exactly. Math has its place, but according to the math we should all be staying home. There are greater sins than playing 6:5, and if that is the convenient game or fun game for you, go nuts.

Personally, I don't because a 6:5 table actually hurts my ENJOYMENT of the game. Forget the change is house edge, it is the visibility of the short payout that makes me FEEL cheated. I also think this is why some people get so angry about these tables. It is way more about the expectation than it is about the math.

Absolutely feel the same way. I have to play the best available VP tables in the casino for the same reason. If I don't, I just feel stupid and that's not fun.

Although I will give up a dealer S17 table for a dealer H17 table if the table is better (ie, if the S17 is empty and the H17 has a few fun people) because that's only giving up a very small mathematical edge, and it doesn't bother me.

It's an epidemic. Some of the best $5 3:2 games at the Stratosphere that I used to love playing have now all been converted to 6:5. And the tables were full. I felt like taking out my bullhorn and making an announcement but thought that might cause suspicion.

I would never, ever play 6:5, because, besides for the almost impossible to overcome house edge, it just shows the casinos that they can get away with increasingly bad rules. S17 to H17 was disappointing, but if people don't realize the difference between 3:2 to 6:5, I'm afraid the casinos will be emboldened. And then blackjack will be ruined. It's just like with the CSMs. Customers stayed away, and they were forced to bring back the shoe. If people stay away from 6:5, they'll be forced to bring back 3:2.

    The end.

Except that the worst 6:5 game is still better for a gambler than the best slot machine

It seems like the Sahara had even worse than 6:5 in their party pit during the last year or two they were around....they added some additional terms such as Blackjack pays 1:1 if your bet was less than $5...

Yeah, but that was for the $1 blackjack table.

Trust me, at that table its pretty easy to "drink yourself even", even with the higher house edge.

Its fair game to complain about $5 and above 6:5, because you can find 3:2 at those levels.

When you get down to a buck, lets not nitpick about rules.

If you're at a $1 table playing 60 hands an hour, the difference in your expected winnings playing BJ pays 1:1 vs 3:2 is one dollar and 36 cents. Or, in vegas, the price of about 4 cigarettes.

They should start calling it “11 for 5 Blackjack”. Heck, then they may even be able to justify adding more "house-friendly" rules...you know, to make up for that extra money they're giving you for BJ.
