I've got to spend my last two days at a different hotel.

Prices are the same - real cheap. First three nights are comped at Venetian.

I like the location of Ballys and Harrahs, but which one do I choose?

    thoughts?

Harrah's rooms suck. Bally's is an easy choice here.

Any chance you can reverse those days? You are moving down with either choice. Venetian IMO is a much nicer property. Harrahs rooms are smaller and you are in the same neighborhood that you were just in. Bally's rooms are bigger and easier access to the southern end of the strip. Depends on what you want to do. I like and have stayed at both Harrahs and Bally's. I would go with Bally's just for the different area of the strip and larger room.

What he said. Bally's is connected to Paris which adds more dining options and a quiet casino if you like that.

Bally's has noticeably more space but I liked the rooms fine at both properties.

So to me the tradeoff will mainly be about location, unless more square footage is crucial to you.

Harrah's you could probably take a short walk over with your bags, but you are also staying in basically the same area.

Ballys would be a longer move, but could give you a 'home base' closer to the south strip for the rest of your stay.

    Re:

My family and I had been staying at Bally's a number of times for our yearly trips, but we since have changed to Harrahs. It wasn't because of Bally's casino/property or rooms; it was of the location of Harrahs. Staying at Harrahs, there will be a lot less walking to get anywhere outside of the casino and if you want to explore the south end of the strip; it is a shorter walk to the monorail than it would be if you were staying at Bally's.

Harrahs rooms certainly do not suck

Other than size, I find them very comparable to Ballys north tower.
If your comp is South Tower, these are VERY dated rooms with great strip views. Ballys is very generous with upgrades to north tower at checkin, but occasionally there isn't availability. (only very busy weekends or conventions)
If I am certain I can get North tower, Ballys wins; otherwise Harrahs wins--just be sure to ask for a room AWAY from Carnival Court when you check in.
BTW, I'd compare Ballys north tower & Harrahs room to any mid range chain--Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, etc.

    Thanks for all of that.

Just to clarify, these rooms are just for the end of my trip - the Monday and Tuesday.

Harrahs is closer and a short walk away with bags....but most seem to think Ballys is a little better.

And as one person said, a little different and a few more options with Paris right beside. Good to think about.

P.S. I love Carnival Court....I'd be there when the noise is happening, so nothing to worry about...lol

I am not a nig fan of Harrah's at all. Bally would get my vote.

I've stayed in both and like them but would pick Harrah's over Bally's. I like the easy access to Harrah's from the strip compared to Bally's but I'm the type that leaves my hotel to explore. I think it's what you like to do - I'm only in my room to pass out and not to hang out.

I prefer Bally's for the larger rooms but I would also suggest it in this case because it's a different part of the strip. You may appreciate being on the other side of the strip for a few days.

Personally I've always preferred Bally's. They seem to have better table game rules and the staff seems a little friendlier.

Ive stayed at both. The rooms at Ballys are nicer.
However i hate the Casino vibe at Ballys. Also not a big fan of the buffet at Paris.
The last time I was there it was awful.
I do like the location of Harrahs slightly better.

Having said all this, I'm staying at Harrahs in less than a month.
How bad is the construction from the Linq/Quad and will I hear it up in my room?
Can anyone give me a heads up?

I had stayed at Harrah's for maybe the last 5 times I was in Vegas. Always had a very nice (and comped) room. I like Harrah's because it's very easy access to the strip. BUT--I really do not like Harrah's casino. I'm never lucky there and I think it has a very dated feel to it.

My last trip, others in my family were staying at Paris. I couldn't get comped at Paris so I booked a comped room Bally's to be closer to them. I was in the North tower. The room was bigger than Harrah's but comparable in quality. I ended up really liking it--it also has easy access to the strip if you go out the side door by Bills. Also, I really love the casino.

You will have a great time no matter where you stay!

If you don't like the food at Ballys or Harrahs, don't forget the shuttle that picks up at Ballys and can run you over to Rio, which is an awesome buffet.

We are staying at Harrah's for 6 nights in Nov....all comped. Couldn't get them all comped for Bally's. Havestayed at both, rooms are fine for our needs at both places.
