    Hello,

Long time lurker and first post. Was wondering how people would rate my play and host in Vegas. Would like to know shifter's opinion as you are very informative in everything you write. I am a small fish in the big sea they call mgm/Bellagio. I have gone to Vegas 13 times
In 4 years. 4 times last year and already 4 times this year and one more trip in 9 days for Halloween this year. I don't bet very high to others standards. I usually play paigow and average about $70 a hand per trip. Average about 8 hours a day. On an average stay of 3 or 4 days. Will throw in some slot play. Probably put a coin in from 3k-5k. Give or take a thousand or 2 depending on how I am doing. Been recently getting around 50k tier points on the last 3 trips. I am of platinum status. My corporate offers are not very impressive. Fall/winter offer is 1 night free with 2 night Stay at the Bellagio with a $25 resort credit. I have a host there thanks to a friend who introduced me last year.

Some history with my interactions with my host. Last 2 trips. All my corporate offers during spring. 2 nights mid week and 100 weekend. With 50 resort credit.

August. 48 hour trip to gamble.
Asked host if possible suite room at the Bellagio mid week. Monday and Tuesday night. Host gave me a Salone suite for 2 nights and took care of my food charge to room for about $130.
I gambled an average verified by my host at $101 playing paigow for 18 hours in my 48 hour stay. Upon checking out went to thank host and give a thank you letter for helping me with the suite. He gave me late check out til 6pm since I had a red eye out later that night. Gave a thank you letter with a $100 bill for his help.

    Labour day weekend.
Host comped me 4 nights upfront with $100 food credit. Sent him an email as I was flying early with a couple of Friends and wanted to go clubbing so asked him about LAX at luxor. He emailed back saying charge it to the room and he''ll comp it for me. We didn't take him up on the offer as we just gambled when we landed. Morning after landing met with my host and he welcomed me by first name and asked me how late my flight landed last night and if I went clubbing from his offer. Told him we just gambled and then he asked if we spoke about late checkout as he knows I take the red eye out. Told him no and he made a call and comped me an extra night (labour day Monday) when I flew out late Sunday night so I wouldn't have to rush out. Very nice of him. Host Took care about $90 and my last charge to the room was on the day he was off and I just used my express comps to take care of the rest. Averaged $69 a hand in paigow and a couple hours of ultimate Texas holdem for an average of $70 for a feel hours, total for about 26 hours in a 4 day stay.

Trip in a week. 4 nights comped with $150 food upfront. I believe my host is very good to me and I'm being over comped from my gambling standards. I am not complaining as I do like my host. Was just wondering what others thought about my host and if my comps warrants my play and if I were to call a host from Monte Carlo for example would I be able to a few nights comped in a suite there? Or am I just lucky and have a host?

Sorry for the long story. Wanted to share my experience and get some feedback on my situation.

    Thanks!

sounds like he's taking great care of you. you are putting in a lot of hours per day, which is one reason for the better comps in relation to your bet size.

but it sounds like you're in good shape. why in the heck would you want to downgrade to MC when you are getting great stuff at way better hotels?

I agree. Your time is getting you the comps, not the average bet. Both of course are used to determine ADT.

I was at NYNY last week for 1 night. I really have not played much pai gow, but thought I might give it a try. I played 6 hrs at $135/hand. After it was all said and done, I had $27 in Express Comps and $15k tier points. That's not much. I think I barely covered the suite comp if EC's are really now 5%. Pai gow is a low comp slow FUN game.

    You are doing well :)

those numbers sound about right. i figure that's around $600 in theo which at 5% would be about $30 in ECs, $220 in primary comps.

I'd agree you're doing well with this host.

If your trips are frequent, and your play is consistent, and your host is willing to continue offer you the same comps up front, don't question it, just enjoy it.

Yes. I know I am very lucky to have him as he is doing pretty well at his job as he keeps making me come back as my losses add up to much more than the comp values. But I've learned to take every freebie I can get.

From my play what would my Theo be and what primary comps would my play be earning?

I only asked about Monte Carlo because I wouldn't mind getting another suite sometime and don't think I'd be able to get one again from the Bellagio, unless I go midweek when it's dead. But would like to see if I would be able to get a suite for a weekend.

Can I expect a lesser mgm casino to comp a suite for my level of play? Or even expect the same kind of comps from the lower tiered casinos? Just trying to get a feel. Don't get me wrong. Not complaining at all. I love Bellagio and their pit bosses. They all greet me by first name once I land and am able to get blue label comped all night because the relationship I have with all of them. I am just curious.

Mgm has been quite good to be. A few trips back, I stayed at Aria because I was there for a bachelor party and needed 3 rooms and my friends preferred the more modern casino. I didn't get any comps upfront that trip. Had all 3 rooms charged at 79 a night plus resort fee. The good thing mgm did for me was upon check-in they upgraded me to the sky suites. Not in a suite but in a normal room which was basically identical to the other rooms but was in the sky suite area to take all the Fiji water I wanted to drink. Friends came the next night and did the $20 trick and got the other 2 rooms in the sky suites as well. They ended up not charging me extra for the double queen rooms which they stated when I called VIP services and a host took $50 off my charges. Not bad. I split my gambling between Aria and Bellagio that trip but basically gamble only at Bellagio nowadays.

    The end. For now. :peace:

i don't think your play really qualifies you for a true suite at even the mid-tier properties. you might be able to get one of those things they call suites, but is really just a bigger room, but that's still going to be a big downgrade from even a standard room the top tier hotels. what's the reason you want a suite? i certainly wouldn't drop down to a lower tier hotel in order to get a slightly bigger room. the only reason it might make sense is if you could get a penthouse type suite at a lower tier property vs a standard room and you had friends that you wanted the extra space for, that would be a reason. but the "suites" at the lower end of the spectrum aren't worth anything IMO.

    35 hands p/h * 135$ * 6h = 28250 wagered
    House edge 1,5% = $425 theo

I got the avg # of hands p/h from the wizardofodds.
So with your $30 in ECs you should be happy.

    My question:
How can we calculate how many points we get for table gamens with the Mlife system.
100$ bj avg bet. How many point p/h?
Also for pai gow, UTH, bacarat ........ Higher house edge means higher theo, but how does this counts towards the # of points?

I saw in an other thread. CET avg 1,5 point per 1$ bet for blackjack p/h.
Thats with 1% house egde. Can we say that a game with 2% house edge. avg 3 points per 1$ bet p/h?

OT, I should stay at the Bellagio. Stayed there twice for a 5 days and it's one of my favorites.
Wynn is still number 1 for me.

it's all a guess because nobody knows exactly what numbers they use for avg hands per hour and HA. i just assume that BJ/Bacc/Pai Gow are about the same and the number of points earned on each seem to be about the same and supports that. as far as tier credits, i don't really keep track of that. but i have calculated based on my previous trip stats that at MGM, $100 avg bet for an hour produces about $75-80 in theo. i calculate everything off of that.

Just to jump in and say that Pai Gow has very bad theo compared to BJ and Baccarat because of all the pushes in Pai Gow. My host says it's about twice as slow. (for theo)

The OP is getting a great deal, I bet the hundred dollar tip every time doesn't hurt. You'll be surprised how many people don't tip their hosts...I know 100k dollar players that tip their hosts $500 when they win (which isn't often).

Thanks for all the info. I wouldn't have left the Bellagio as I do love the place. Was just curious. Another question then. I tipped my host $100 the time he comped me the salon suite. I plan to give him another tip for his help again. After reading some posts seems ppl of higher gambling give gifts around $50. Would $50 be good for my host? Or should I give $100 again? A side note unless I hit a big jackpot or win huge I don't really plan to be back in Vegas until at least spring/summer next year. And I read about giving a prepaid cash card. I walked over to the miracle mile to find somewhere that sold a gift card and no one did. Walked over to the new Walgreen s at ph and they didn't sell so I just put a Hundo in the thank you letter and gave it to him. Is that frowned upon?

I would keep him at $100.00 - but I am a good tipper. It isn't that the fact that $100.00 is the right amount but more that you have already set him at that level. If you lower his level he may lower yours - Your time at the tables is big and I am sure that is what he is working with. He can cover his comping you at the level you are based on time.

I think you will get more out of working with your current host that trying to move down properties. Tell your host what you want and make them work for you and your tip.
