The epic saga begins.

I'm currently waiting in Denver for my flight, after an uneventful voyage from Ohio at the buttcrack of dawn. Middle seat, back of the plane. I hope that's not foreshadowing!

I can't promise live updates because I'm not sure what my wifi situation will be, but rest assured, there will be a trip report. If I win the lions share, I'll start a new thread, with pics.*The trip agenda includes gambling, pool, spa and a raucous VMB meetup. And then my mom shows up. :evillaugh

Oh hell, there will be pics if I lose too.

Hooray for iPhones. I've checked into my room. I took a shuttle from terminal 3, and it ended quite poorly. The shuttle driver said to me "do you have anything for the driver?" And I just looked at him with a "are you kidding?" stare. So he repeats himself. And I respond "not after you say that. That was rude!" and I storm off. I then check in with a girl who must hate her job and proves that Monte Carlo doesn't pay their employees to smile. She sticks me in this shittiest room they have (I'm certain of it- there's a poop stain on the chair) on the 4th floor. It's really got me feeling off. Is this driver hustle thing on the shuttle a new thing, I've just been lucky or should I report it?

 

How rude of that driver (grrrrrr). Despite the bad start, I hope the rest of your trip is fabulous, you have a wonderful birthday, and win big!

I never tip someone who acts like that. Good for you. I'll actually leave a blackjack table if a dealer is saying anything about tipping, even though it's not about me...like if I'm tipping and nobody else is, and the dealer uses my tip to make a snide remark like 'at least somebody at this table tips' then I'm out of there.

So again, good for you.

Call the desk, tell them you hate your room and it has a nasty stain and get a new room. You'll feel better.

 

Calming down now that I'm having a craft cocktail at Milos for lunch. After the drink I won't feel so bad for what I pay for my iPhone charger. I sent a tweet to the Monte Carlo voicing my dissatisfaction and the responded in 2 minutes requesting my room number. They have yet to contact me again, so I'm going to just drink my peach tea cocktail and eat some lobster pasta until they hopefully do something.

 

CVS? Walgreens? Target?

 

Ask at lost and found or valet at any hotel... they have a million of them and usually will give you one!!!

Hopefully you got all the bad mojo out of the way early. I always hate when someone solicits a tip like that. Makes me want to make a snide remark like "Maybe you should do something to deserve a tip."

I had a room at MGM a few years ago that I walked into and the over-powering smell of bleach was in the room. I was also battling a sinus infection and immediately went back down to the front desk to request a different room. If you don't think it's clean or acceptable, ask them to move you. Anywhere is better than that.

 

I found a charger at a store in the upmiracle mile shops, and they only took me for 10 bucks. I didn't want to go down to the front desk after I have complained about the room. I've yet to receive any type of response yet since this morning. I'm trying to not let it get me down, but I dunno. Does MC just smell like sweaty sunscreen?

Don't let a shitty start of a trip ruin it for you. Just like with gambling, it just takes 1 good pull of the handle, or 1 good deal to turn it all around! Cheer up, positive thoughts.

 

The lobby of MC always has a funny smell. I'm not sure what it is, but it's every time I'm there. It's not bad, just odd.

 

Good news!

I got out of the B.O. Room and put into a spa suite that doesn't smell funny at all. I'm glad I don't have to spend my birthday in a smelly room.

 

You shouldn't have to deal with a sub par room with stains. Good for you to speak up and get moved. Have a good trip!

 

Glad you got moved to a clean suite! Agree with Mike, the MC lobby/casino area does have an odd smell. We've never stayed there so I don't know if the smell permeates the rooms.

 

Very nice job getting the upgrade to the SPA Suite.

Seems whenever I go to Vegas and get screwed/pissed early on, I piss away money. Sounds like you stayed away from the gambling which should help I have posted many times that the Lobby area of MC smells like bad sunscreen and the other end smells like puke. Stay in the middle Or, go to ARIA or NYNY. MC is a great location to easily access two other nice hotels.
