Bellagio meal comps while staying at Caesars

I will be at Caesars on Sunday but my BJ play will be at Bellagio, Mirage and Aria. Assuming I put in a decent amount of play, I will probably request a meal or two from a host along the way.

Now I know that if I was staying at Bellagio, a host would aggregate my play from all MGM properties when making comp calculations. Does anyone know how it would work as I am not staying there? I would assume that if I am asking a Bellagio host for a meal comp and I am staying at Caesars, the host would only be looking at my play at Bellagio. Similarly for Mirage and Aria.

    Any thoughts?

Easy solution. Before you play, get an mlife players club card. You can use it at all three casinos each time you play. And you play, you will accumulate express comps. You can then use those express comps to pay for food at most of the MGM owned restaurants. So you can play at Aria all day, but still eat at Bellagio that night

these days unless your play is really high, your host is just going to tell you to use your ECs. even if he writes up a hard comp for you, it will still come off your ECs. i just had a conversation with my B host about this last trip.

Thanks. I fully understand Mlife (well actually...:confused2:). I am looking for more than just using ECs.

So what happens to the 'unused' comps if I do not have a room at Bellagio? If I earn $100 in ECs from my play at Bellagio, that leaves $200 primary comps just sitting there. I would be looking for a meal comp with value in excess of the ECs on my account. I would hope a host would book the meal and cover the cost, even if they are obliged to remove any outstanding ECs from my account.

I was wondering whether a Bellagio host (in this instance) just looks at play at Bellagio or would also factor in play from other MGM casinos. Any other insight would be welcomed.

To give a bit more context, a couple of years ago I stopped by Bellagio and played VP for a couple of hours, while I was staying elsewhere (non MGM). I put around $40,000 coin-in, stopped by the host office and picked up a meal comp for Michael Mina with unlimited food and $150 limit on booze.

I was already an established player so this was not a 'bring your play to Bellagio' incentive, just a recognition of the play I had given when I did not have a room at Bellagio.

This was all pre-Mlife of course, but that's the sort of thing I had in mind, based on BJ play over a number of days.

I think Shifter made my point more eloquently than I did. If you have a host at Bellagio, call him or her and ask for the hard comp in advance. They can still give you one (usually in an effort to win back or gain your business), but from what a friend who has done the same thing told me earlier this year, they will still end up deducting it from your EC on the back end. Either way, they are going to deduct your EC first

they don't do this type of thing anymore, that's why they created the EC program. so you can comp yourself and not have to bother a host to intervene for a simple meal. of course that also means less comps, but that's the way they like it.

you may be able to get them to issue a hard comp for more than your ECs, but that would mostly depend on the relationship with your host. if you just go into the host on duty, you're probably not going to get anything extra and those unused primary comps will just be wasted. now you're living the Mlife!

as far as what play they look at, they're probably only going to look at the play at their property. but again, this goes back to the relationship with your host. if you have a good host and you call him and let him know you'll be stopping by to play for a while, he will just pick up a meal or 2 like this off the cuff without really caring too much about the specifics of your play. but it's definitely going to be deducted from your ECs and they may not be able to pick up any extra even if they wanted to.

Thanks guys, it's a tough world out there! Unfortunately I am between hosts at Bellagio, as my last host was pretty much useless. I do have a new host but have only had email contact to date. I might shoot him a line, outlining the situation and see what he says.

I could have stayed at Bellagio this trip but, as I am going with a smaller budget, it seemed like a good time to try Caesars and keep Bellagio back for a future trip. But I would like to get full recognition for the play I give to Bellagio.

That's usually my approach. I stay at the properties I like most when I am planning to play larger.

I play table games, not slots, so I don't really know the difference between the two when it comes to accumulating EC, but I always end up with way more EC than I can spend on food during a trip. Hopefully you can accumulate enough EC so it won't matter. Then again, I like the salmon sandwich at Snacks with a glass of their finest coke zero, so you're probably looking to spend a bit more than I do

I'm usually a table games player as well, exclusively BJ (craps just seems to end up as an opportunity to have fun and hand over money to the casino).

I will be with Mrs T. We're happy at places like CPK but I was hoping my play at Bellagio might earn a comp for a nice place like Picasso or, at least, Circo. I am going to email my host. He can only say no!

I wish you good luck with this and I truly am curious about how it works out. I too would hate to waste higher level play time without earning discretionary as well as ECs.

Personally I have not been issued a comp like this (fine dining when staying off property) since about 2005, in the pre Mlife days, and it was always after a marathon session and a big loss. I would like to think it is still possible but shifter would know better than I.

Why are you staying at Caesars if you want to play at Bellagio and Aria?

Smaller budget, no pressure to play, chance to try a nice Augustus/Octavius Tower room at Caesars.

I would find a way to stay at Bellagio myself. Won;t they give you a room and food upfront?

What's your level of play? If it's high enough, you might get approached by a host at the tables anyway if you're unassigned - and then maybe you could ask them for a hard comp [although it sounds like those days might be done for good at mLife properties].

But I would agree that - especially given the recent mLife changes - that if you plan to give most of your play to Bellagio and don't want those "primary" comps to go to waste, then it probably makes more sense just to stay at Bellagio [or another MGM property], even if you don't have an upfront offer.

I mean, if you're not going in on an upfront host offer, there should be no concern about "pressure to play" - and if you're confident enough in your level of play that you think you'd be able to get a hard meal comp for it, just self-book and then ask for your room and/or as much of your F&B [as warrants] comped off on the back-end.

i just did that at a bunch of mgm place while staying at ceasars.
as long as you gamble enough at a mgm place and not stay there they will comp out the buffet ,if you want actual resturant you will to have a host do it just ask and if they feel it's warrented , it will be taken care off

So pit bosses can longer write meal comps anymore other than the buffet at the Bellagio?

actualy the dont write them they add it to your mlife card and yes if you want more than a buffett ,you or they will have to contact host on duty to aprove it.as i said it was pretty easy as long as i gave enough play.

ps .bellagio also set me up with hyde comps for a friday nite.

i had wolfgang puck at mgm added to my card as a comp as well as buffets at mgm and belliagio
