Hi, I used to visit this board a lot! I used to go to Vegas a lot! But then I had a kid..LOL Anyhow, I am planning to visit next spring after not being there for 10 long years!! I am taking my sister who has never been. I used to stay in the cheapy places because I didn't care, it was just a place to shower and sleep. But I want something a little nicer this time. I have never stayed at Excalibur but they have some really good rates, why spend lots on a room? My question is, are all the rooms in the same building? Like I know CC has rooms way in the back as does IP I believe. I don't want a motel room. Scanning this forum I read that some people think Excalibur is nasty. Really? I realize there will be kids, that is not a problem. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

You said you wanted something a little nicer, then you said you liked the rates at excalibur. Do you want something nicer, or do you want good rates? If you want something nicer, Excalibur isn't your place.

All Excal rooms are in towers. The widescreen rooms are nice.

I started out staying at the "cheap hotels" around 10 yrs ago, and now I'm staying at the Wynn, and Palazzo. Why, some ask? Because for me, if I'm going fly over 2000 miles to get there, I don't want just a shower and bed anymore. I've earned it. This is just a matter of preference and opinions are always going to different on Excalibur, IP or whatever. It all comes down to you and what you want, and can put up with. What gets me is the people that say these places are "very nice", what are they comparing them to? To me, the Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo have the absolute best rooms in Vegas. But, then again, my rooms are comped, so if these aren't in your budget, there are plenty of better choices in the mid range price that are better than the Excalibur.

On a side note, the Excalibur used to be our favorite casino to play in because we used to get good value for our play. But, it needs to be re done completely. The theme might be good, but it attracts to many children for me. I want to get away from children. It's ridiculous to see baby strollers, small children and under aged young punks walking through the casino floor. They at least need to redesign the casino floor so the "tourists" can visit without interfering with the players.

All of the rooms are in the same building. There is nothing like the manor rooms at CC or Capri rooms at IP. I would definitely recommend spending whatever the extra is per night to book a Widescreen room.

We just stayed there last month. It was just fine. We had a widescreen room, which if you are going to stay there, I would get the widesreen room. If I was paying for a room, I would have no problem staying there again. Be sure to sign up for the e-mails - then you get regular e-mails with discounted room offers.

Sort of in the same building, and sort of not. Check out this overhead view and notice the different towers.

My suggestion is that if you would like something a little nicer, but still reasonable on the wallet, why not give Monte Carlo a try? The location is good and it's several steps above just a bed and a shower. Have fun! 10 years is such a long time to be without Vegas! lol

Good point. Staying there you definitely have to remember if it is Tower 1 or Tower 2. I did stumble to the wrong one once and then had to stumble my way back across the casino to the other tower.

Elevator banks for all towers open to the casino floor.

I stay at Excalibur most of the time and have never had any problems. For the price I think it is fantastic. I will be checking in there tomorrow as a matter of fact. A few weeks ago I stayed there and was upgraded to a widescreen room...It’s the same size as the standard room but it has been remodeled with nicer and newer stuff (Granite counter tops, nicer beds, more modern paint colors, nicer furniture, etc.). In the future, I will definitely pay the $10 extra per night for the widescreen room upgrade...if the upgrade isn't comp'd.

From my experience Tower 2 is all of the remodeled rooms and Tower 1 is all the older standard rooms.

As long as you avoid the Fun Dungeon you won’t have problems with the kid crowd.

I stayed there in 1991 when it was new. Could have sworn there were four towers.

    Excalibur is, well, there.

Casino is OK, but definitely does not rate the Charles Atlas Seal Of Approval. :)

It’s not THAT long of a walk...nothing compared to Caesars or the B. The signage is great too...so you know which direction to walk and aren’t aimlessly wandering around.
