What do you pay? Internet, phone & cable

We pay $159 for cable, internet & phone. Basic service which includes Showtime. Not much to watch there but the Big C.

Anyway, this piece talks about how far behind we are behind on not only speed, but cost & content.

$117/ month through the cable company.

Digital cable with two boxes, but no DVR.
Basic Internet.
Unlimited long distance phone.

I don't think it's all that bad.

 

I was paying in the $160 range for the "3" package, phone, cable, internet with no fancy channels. I called my provider and told them if they could do something about the cost and they are giving me a promotional rate for 1 year at about $125. After the year is up I was told to see if there would be any other promotional rates available.

I have been a "loyal" customer for over 5 years so they gave me a break.

 

Just to edit my post...We have 1 Dvr and 1 HD box. Plain old cable on the other 3 TVs, no boxes.
Unlimited calls in the US.

 

Had Comcast for years and they kept creeping up in price for the bundle to a point of about 160, The came Verizon with a bundle package same service about 120 from them for 2 year contract, along with a $500 gift card for switching , not hard to swap services and when time is up will play the field again

 

Approximate prices are $60-ish for our land line, $40 for cable TV, and $20 for Internet. All currently on Century Link.

 

I'm on ATT u-verse and have their highest TV package which includes HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, Flix, The Movie Channel and a few hundred others that I never watch. We have the whole house DVR - one main DVR and 3 remote boxes (1 wireless), and you can watch and control the DVR from any of the remotes. I have mid-tier internet. No phone. About $200 per month.

 

I did away with my land line several years ago. I use my cell phone exclusively and I would venture many here have cell phones besides. I pay $93 per month for HD cable (2 sets) with DVR (1 set) and internet.

 

Lots and lots. We have to keep our landline because of the security system - no clue what that is, but long distance is cheap, $5/month? We don't have high speed internet, so we pay a bunch for satellite because it's the best/quickest option ($45/month?) And I think DirecTV is about $150/month? That's 2 DVRs, one of which is HD, and a good package but no premium channels. These bills are on my husband's side of the accounting spreadsheet - I only look at them once a year, when we split things up ;-)

Our collaborator site in Tanzania has better internet than I do at home. And their cell phones are a lot cheaper too. But the 3G coverage is about the same as mine:evillaugh

 

Approx $150 a month with Fios internet/cable/phone bundle. 1 DVR, HBO and SHO (HBO and SHO are both on special rates right now...long enough to watch True Blood and Dexter).

When I first signed up with verizon Fios we paid around $120 for the first few months. I've been really happy with the service. Had Comcast forever...paid $249 a month with them for crap service and not even any premium channels.

 

We have "WOW" (Wide Open West) for our internet and digital cable (with DVR), for $88 / month, plus basic cell phone service for $30 / month.

 

We all pay too damm much!

The only way I keep the promo rates in effect after 6 months is call them just before they expire and threaten to jump to the satellite people or whoever so they go thru their big act and eventually extend my promo rates.
In dollars and cents we pay,incl. tax $50 (avg)TO Verizon for land line ,unlimited calling ,ID, call waiting plus high speed DSL.
TV I pay $62 to Comcast for digital plus service (tons of channels ) plus HBO.Just 1 TV, the other is digital excluding HBO and some others.
No HD.

 

We have Charter Cable, Vonage, and DirecTV that breaks down to a bit less than $200 a month:

Cable: $62 . Very dependable internet and no speed problems.

Vonage: Mostly used for our ADT service and to keep a phone line in. $35.

DirecTV: $95 Most channels and HBO. 1 HD DVR and 1 Regular DVR. I love DirectV.

I am sure I could pay less but the trade off would be horrid customer service and possibly lesser service too. I really enjoy DirectV, but I do have to call them once every 6 months or 12 months to complain a bit and they drop my rate down below $100 (otherwise it would be about $115).

I used to use CHarter for phone AND internet, until one time i had to call them about an issue and was on hold, literally, for over an hour and when they finally answered they were pretty damn rude. So using them just for internet is fine with me.

 

Up here in the frozen tundra of Ontario, Canada.

"VIP Package" which has every standard big network and lots of sports channels. 60+ HD channels, no extra movie channels or anything.

 

Holly shit that seems outrageous!! Except the 28MB connection that'd be pretty badass, but with speeds like that I'd go way over 120GB a month. Even now I probably D/L more than that in a month.

 

I'm in the neighborhood of $50/month:

$17.50/month for limited cable w/HD (Comcast)
$30/month for 3MB/s internet (Comcast)
$2.50/month for VOIP phone (nettalk)

 

$186.00 total.

 

Yikes!!! We pay a lot, but get a lot too. I pay just shy of $500/mo... for Direct TV w/DVR (4 room connections, all HD) HBO package, NFL Package, MLB package and most of the sports channels. We have the premium internet package for our pretty rural area (6MB) and 2 regular phone-lines coming into the house with free long-distance. We also have four-(4) IPhones w/unlimited text and data for each.

 

About 350 for the bundle. we get most channels, all HD, DVR, 4 settop boxes and the fastest internet.

 

About $180 inc.taxes with Comcast. HD,HBO Redzone channel (That you have to purchase a special sports package for) Telephone and Internet..

Originally had Time-Warner and they were great..then Comcast took them over..a few years ago a Century link rep/outside sales going door -to-door kinda mis-lead me that the service they were installing was similiar to Verizon Fios...it wasn't.It was through the regular tel lines..
Service worked fine though until last November or December,then the internet /tv would just quit at nighttime..
HOURS spent on the phone and meeting techs in the house and they blamed the wires...same techs who did the installation btw..Just a co-incidence the tv and internet worked fine at low-traffic periods...I was basically told to have my apt.manager install new wires..
I went back to Comcast (whose customer support is terrible),but nothing topped Century Link...actually took until May to recieve a credit back from my December bill. a couple more hours on the phone..
I get annoyed at the commercial of the people on the couch seeing CLink for the first time..Worst company I have ever dealt with and I am a patient consumer...
Sorry for the rant but it makes my BP go through the roof when one dept of a company has no clue what the other is doing and sometimes an employee simply dis-connects your call if they can't/don't want to deal with your issue.
