    So....

Gotta plan a party for some dudes in their early 30's. It's a rowdy crowd going in winter who like to gamble, booze, and, uh, do other adult related things. Imagine that in Vegas.

At any rate, the hotel we all stay in is less of a concern but since it's my responsibility and since I've never been to Vegas, I'm worried about making the right decision.

I'm more or less basing it on the price range of $100-150 per night which puts us in the Mirage-MGM-TI, etc. class of hotels. Any advice or should I flip a coin?

Of those 3 I'd pick The Mirage due to quality of rooms, location and casino. Planet Hollywood caters to a younger party demographic and it fits your price range so I'd consider there as well.

One note - when factoring in prices remember some hotels carry resort fee that aren't charged up front. Here's a thread that details resort fees.

Mirage would work well as would Planet Hollywood as previously stated. Cosmopolitan is a happening place so you might want to check the rates there but I'm afraid it is over your budget.

Cosmo is definitely over that budget. Of the three listed, I would go Mirage, MGM, then TI.

Don't forget to factor in the daily resort fee into your budget when choosing a hotel (MGM, Mirage, and TI all have resort fees. CET properties, such as Planet Hollywood, do not).

Sorry, this is redundant information. I now see that PopMegaphone included this tidbit in their reply.

i'd say Mirage for that group. but from what i've heard PH might be more to your liking and it's mid-strip which gives you more options to jump to other places like Cosmo to party.

I would suggest PH as well, but I rarely see PH in the $100-$150 range on the weekends though.

Mirage is good, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Planet Hollywood is a good location, and had a lot to do, but it's just not my favorite place. But, I think it could work well for you. I'd imagine you will party at Cosmo since that's the hotspot right now. Cosmo would be perfect, but the rates are not even close to $150!

Honestly any of the 4 star properties would be just fine for you, all mentioned above or any you mentioned. I'd stay away from the 5 stars except Cosmo (Venetian, Palazzo, Bellagio, Aria.. those are a little stuffy, and everything is just too pricey)

In December I've seen fantastic rates at Mandalay, Mirage, MGM and Luxor. Pretty much the whole month. http://www.mgmresorts.com/guarantee/ but yea factor in the resort fee.

What about somewhere like NYNY? I don't think the location is as good as PH, but the price might be better. They seem to be pretty popular with guys on the board for the atmosphere. The other place I'd think of is Bally's. It's not as plush as Mirage but it would be a decent value place with a great location.

No need to knock yourself out about it. All of those places will work just fine for your needs.

Keep in mind that once a group of guys hits vegas they will have a tendancy to go to the foru winds so dont over plan stuff. That only makes it frustrating.

Get enough rooms for everyone. Nothing will ruin a fun partying trip faster then a room full of drunken fools coming in and out at all hours stinking the place up. there are lots of rooms in vegas so get one for everyone. Dont rely on getting rooms with 2 queen beds either because chances are when you get there they wont have any and you will get a room with 1 king instead. thats a fast way to either make really good freinds or to ruin your trip.

Oh yeah, forget that you saw the movie hangover, you cant afford a room like that.

have fun and drink in your room. its cheaper!!

You could save some dough, stay at the Imperial Palace, and trash the room like Keith Moon. Thing about the IP is, the place is such a dump, they will never notice :D

Planet Hollywood and ballys are places you might wanna check out. Both are great. MGM is perfect though. Lot of bars and lounges. Great place to gamble. Nice rooms. I have only stayed at mgm once but hang out there every trip.I love the mgm. MGM looks like Vegas inside more than any place. It is a mix of all types of age groups and economic groups. Mirage might be a close second. Only been there once. So for me.I vote MGM

How many people are you putting in a room? I love the Mirage and would pick it over MGM if it was just me and another person, but if you're putting 3-4 guys in a room, MGM rooms tend to be quite a bit bigger than those at Mirage (as long as you're not in the West Wing or whatever they're calling it these days) and might be better for larger groups.

Thanks for all of the tips.

I wouldn't say money is a huge issue with the rooms, but we didn't want to spend $200 a night for a place we don't plan on being all that often. There will be 2 to a room more than likely.

Sounds like the original idea to flip a coin may be best - between MGM, Mirage, PH...but how about this wrench. Looks like the AVN Awards are going down the same day we get there. Those will be taking place at the Hardrock. What's that place like? I'm married, but I would love to see my single buddies meet a porn star or two.

Hard rock is off-strip and has lost some luster. If I were you I would stay on the strip and take a taxi over to hard rock as needed.

Hard Rock to PH is about a 10 dollar cab ride each way.

The adult video stars will also realize that the Hard Rock has "lost some luster" and will be all over town...sounds like a great time to go...

PH wouid be my recommendation. I suspect it will be cheaper than the other two and will fit your needs well. Plenty of action at the Heart Bar there. You could even walk from there to Hard Rock.
