I had over $250 in Express comps from my last visit in April which I was looking forward to using on my next trip in October. Every time I log into Mlife.com, I would see the $250 balance up until last month. The first few times when I saw $0 in my balance, I just thought that it was another glitch with the fabulous site that it shows $0 but I really do have a balance so I always just brushed it off.

I finally call Aria VIP services to confirm my hotel/limo for Oct and finally asked about my express comps. She said her screen showed $0 as well and will look into it. She came back and said that in Aug, corporate did an audit and found out that they did not deduct my Express comps properly in the past on some transactions. I was in disbelief. She then said that she couldn't do anything but when I arrive, I can talk to the mlife desk to see what they could do.

Again, I am in disbelief that after many many months, they would just deduct my express comps like that. I always carry a balance and accrue more express comps as I play so I have no idea of when these incorrect charges/transactions happened. I mean am I still in the negative after the audit where when I play in Oct, I won't be earning any express comps? If so, no thanks and I will start playing at CET again. I guess I'll see what the mlife desk has to say when I get there. Thought I would just share and see if anyone else got "audited" as well and lost comp $. I have a Platinum card with over 300k tier credits from past 5 visits.

Now you know why they say "FML"

    Welcome to the new mLife.

    Love it or leave it.

I left it, and I'm not looking back.

I suspect we will see more and more of this type of post, followed by service and facility complaints as MGM Retards Intl further slash expenses by cutting staffing and maintenance in their slow but steady de-evolution into bankruptcy.

Talk to the Mlife desk? They have even less authority than host. Ever notice that when there is an issue, they have to call a host to override or do anything extra?

    Your host blew you off.

Mlife strikes again. Some accountant is sitting there proud of all the money they recovered.

Try posting on Facebook. They MIGHT be able to get your EC back.

If they had any concerns with PR (I know, I know!) they would have sent out info to everyone they were about to shear comps from. Much better to try to explain before the fact in this case than give a lame excuse after they've been caught!

Sometimes I wonder. I suspect they didn't do that because the average person who goes to Vegas doesn't pay attention to that stuff. I know I never did until I started participating on LV forums.

They probably figure it is better to deal with a small percentage of pissed off people that did notice - than to deal with everyone they took comps from - now that they pointed it out to them.

You like Mlife, and I hate it. We will agree to disagree there out of respect.

Having said that, why in the hell would you play at a property that steals $2,000 of your comps? I guess I cant wrap my arms around this.

i've never said i like Mlife as in the player's club itself. it's just about supply and demand. MGM has the best properties in Vegas for what i'm interested in (suites/villas hotel quality with the Skylofts, Mansion, Bellagio, Aria, nicest HL rooms, best gaming rules, all the UFC, boxing, concerts, best golf course, etc.) they also have the nicest casino in Biloxi, which is nearby for quick trips.

also i have great hosts at my properties who take really great care of me. i've built those relationships over time and they continue to pay dividends.

Mlife has pissed me off with many of the things they've done and i've thought about jumping ship, but the bottom line is any way you dice it, it just doesn't make any sense for me. that's why i think it's different for everybody and there's no one size fits all MGM is better or CET is better statement for anyone. they all have their pros and cons and you just have to weigh what your needs/wants are to each system.

This is the most well reasoned statement on comp systems I've ever read. We should just direct all future MLife/CET bashing posts to this.

It's a game. Vegas wants the most it can get out of you, you want the most you can get out of it. Play the game to win, and get what you can where you can.

Great points, and I will even +1 the Beau Rivage. Easily the best property along the gulf.

Other than the Hard Rock next door (for our obligatory stop at their cafe) it's the only place on the gulf in my book!

Just looked after reading this and all my Express Comps, as well as FP, HGS and Point Play are still there at the level they have been. Confused as hell I am since my comp level is close to the OPs at $238and WAY below Shifters obviously :confused2:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I must have missed the original post on this. Does anyone know if they just deducted what I have or is there a possibility that I might be in the "negative"? I will check with the mlife desk but if I am in the negative, there is no point for me to continue to play.

Yes, it is a shitty move of Mlife to take away your express comps - I actually will have to check my own and see if I'm missing any - when did they do this exactly - as far as I know last I checked my balance was still the same as last time I left Vegas.

But putting that aside for the moment...

I have to agree with this 100% - in the end, they're all basically the same, and they all tweak what & how they do things from time to time, they all occasionally make stupid moves, do things that piss some people off [you can't please all the people all the time], change executives, hosts move from property to property, etc.

That's why I started "playing the field" last year, so to speak - whereas previously in Vegas I usually stayed loyal to one place for several years at a time, I've shifted my Vegas attitude to one I've had in Atlantic City for over two decades - multiple places, go to whichever one gives me the best offer or that is what I'm in the mood for, etc.

So now, I stayed at Aria twice this year, next trip I'm staying at Palazzo, after that, who knows? I now have active LOC's at Aria, Bellagio [because I opened a LOC there when I was staying at Aria}, Palazzo, Wynn and Caesars Palace [I opened a LOC there because I'm playing at Caesars again in AC] - they're all in the running for my business now each trip.

I think the problem is, much like getting caught up playing for comps, people get too caught up in the players' clubs, their status, what they've earned, etc. - and if a lot of the posts on here are any indication, to me it seems they get so caught up in it it starts to take away from their enjoyment of Vegas in general.

They have been doing audits and taking away express comps now for the last 4 months (mine happened about 4 months ago for a error supposedly in late 2011) or perhaps longer. Since they are still continuing to do audits I have to assume that no one is out of the woods on express comps disappearing from their M-Life account.

My main complaint though is the lack of any accounting to the player and the sneaky way of not informing us in email that they have removed express comps and for what reason, because they obviously hope a large percentage of their player's might not track them carefully and won't notice the removal.

I've also been playing the field, I'm NOIR with M-Life, Platinum with Sands and well your guess is as good as mine with Wynn, but basically I always get offers and free play from Wynn. I don't play at the Harrah's properties. I'm not loyal to any one group because I personally believe they will change their programs on a whim for the low to upper middle level gamblers when it suits them and I adjust my stays and play accordingly to whichever group is giving me the best offers. At the moment it's not M-life though I will still be doing a stay with them in November as I have a lot of express comps to still burn off before they do another audit and come up with another alleged error.

shifter nailed my sentiments exactly. Casinos these days are much like music, everybody has their own reasons as to why they like a certain type. I love visiting all the casinos, but personally prefer Mlife properties overall so I will stick with them for now (but leave my damn comp balances alone, MGM!).

    ..

    + 1000 shifter

.i just logged into my mlife account to see if any changes happened, all the same as a month ago. ..

. after the may 2012 trip i had 700,000+ tier points and thought of noir, then around july/august i noticed the total went down to 446,000 ..i called mlife and they said "it is probably an error" ..but it is still 446,000 ..express comp, pointplay and hgs still the same ..this is scary and somewhat unpredictable..

. i decided i would screenshot my mlife account every 2 weeks to make sure no subtle changes go unnoticed ..

..to original poster and those others who got shafted ..that sucks donkey nuts .. *dang*

.. sorry to hear that ..
