I've been staying at THEHotel for a few years. Unfortunately, with the transition into The Delano, I'm starting to look for a different place to call my home hotel.

Any suggestions for a similar priced/room layout on the strip? I thought THEHotel was a great value for my money, and I'm having a hard time finding something similar.

    Thanks!

Is there a reason (yet) to make a change?

Too early to nix a place before it even changes.

Start planning early, my friends who host the MMA radio show at Mandalays sports book told me what they have been hearing is they are looking at turning THE into a damn South Strip version of Cosmo. D bag central on the South end as someone said :vomit: We have been staying at THE for many years due to it being the complete opposite of what these jackasses want to turn it into and if the price in the article is right looks like we will be moving to Wynn or V/P after Decembers stay at THE. Then again we have become fond of Luxor the last two trips and the Luxury suite is quite nice.

Wasn't the idea of THE Hotel to be a boutique hotel within the hotel in the first place. Though I suppose with the new name and such is a way to get more for rooms and such.

Personally I liked the uniqueness of Vegas hotels and restaurants being something you only could see in Vegas.

yeah, I meant my comment as a brand that is different from the MGM umbrella, have no idea what kind of arrangement they'll have

ironically, I noted that the room interior was looking a little worn and could use a little updating, guess they'll be doing exactly that

That is exactly the reason why I'm looking at someplace else.

It seems like Las Vegas is moving away from what it was to just a another city to visit. I wonder when they (The casino ownwers) will turn their back on gambling and go for just big party entertainment for the younger crowd. They (The younger crowd) don't want gaming, just drinking and sex. Maybe Wynn and Adelson knew this in advance, and it is why they are moving so much of their gaming to Macau. If so; it shows you how brilliant, and what visionaries, those two are.

They look pretty comparable in price. Could you tell me some comparisons between the Luxury Suite and THESuite?

Funny I always thought the current clientele WAS sorta Cosmo-ish.

I stayed once, couldn't stand the crowd there and never went back.

I guess we look at TheHotel differently than many. It is the hotel we stay at. We eat, drink, gamble at Mandalay Bay. Unless you eat/drink in the lobby or rooftop, there is no "clientele" to deal with.

Isn't the Signature at the MGM kind of the same deal at THE at MB?

I agree. The Hotel clientele are no different than MB clientele. :confused2:

I am staying at The Hotel in a couple weeks and we stayed last year. Still haven't eaten in The Hotel restaurant (basically the lobby ) and went to Mix once. The Hotel is just a quieter part of MB with nicer rooms. It's that simple to me. We are also paying around $85 a night so it is far from expensive. Actually only about $10 a night more than MB.

They are pretty comparable actually, but the Luxury is a bit larger part of that is due to only one bathroom in it instead of THEs 1/2 bath in the entry way. The luxury does lack the safe THE has and the closet is an open area but you can get more clothes in it than the closet set up at THE, all in all the Luxury is a nice room. You can see pics of the Luxury here from our trip in May

We've moved on from THEhotel, since it started to get a little dingy the past year or two (and not cheaper). Now we love Vdara, my parents LOVE it there. Best experience we've had in Vegas, we rebooked a return trip immediately after visiting, also Trump, I had a fantastic experience there in May and we are heading back in a few weeks (I had to bring my parents there)

Vdara, City Corner suite, it's great, 180ยบ view of the strip, I liked that it had a little kitchen, and laundry (while unnecessary still nice) it felt like "home" on the Strip.

Trump, 1 bedroom corner suite, it's 1000sqft, the biggest suite I've had in Vegas. 2 FULL bathrooms, with two showers. Kitchen, it's wonderful!

Go check the rooms out on YouTube.

Only cons, both only have valet parking (Vdara was always super quick about it, Trump went both ways), no 2 double bed rooms (but both have sofa beds), no casino. But since we go all the time it wasn't a big deal, we like to casino hop, and shop at different places anyways.

Also, they deal really good on those properties, Trump especially (you can get a studio on Priceline for like $80 or less). Also both good places for the $20 trick because they have an excess of 1 bedrooms.

I highly highly highly recommend both properties.

Bubba and Heather, thanks so much for the great information! I'll do some research into Luxor and Vdara on my next trip.

We too have moved on from MB property. The last couple of times we were there we did not dig the crowd at all. MB/The Hotel was our favorite LV property since we started going there in 2003. We are not sure if the crowd has changed from before, if we have changed, or more likely a combination of both. We have moved on to either the Wynn or the Bellagio. If you are paying out of pocket for the room it is a little bit more money, however you get what you pay for. I will say that I am intrigued by the changes coming to the MB property, however I do have my doubts as to if it will be our tastes or not.
