Planning a trip to Vegas in March. Right now there are 5 guys going and are still debating how long we'll be gone (anywhere form 4-7 nights). I've been to Vegas several times so I have a pretty good idea of the quality of hotels but I've always gone with either 1 other person or a big group where we all got separate rooms. What's the best plan? Get two rooms? Does anywhere on the strip have something at a decent price that fits 5?

    Few things to note:
We don't mind if someone has to sleep on the couch (as long as it's not tiny)
We are not looking to spend a ton on the hotel
We want to stay on the strip (prefer mid or south strip)
Decent price would be ~$250/night total (willing to look into suggestions that are up to ~$400/night though)
We would like the extra living area of a suite

thanks in advance for any thoughts

Palazzo or Venetian. Easy call and should be close to budget. No problem getting 5 there with comfort.

Asking for two rooms on the same floor (if possible) should work.
I think you all will want use of a bathroom whenever necessary,
without having to wait on someone else.

Sounds like Planet Hollywood or Bally's might suit your needs
without costing a lot of money.

Have a great time and good luck.

I've seen some posts referring to hotels with small suites that have attached rooms. Does anyone have experience with these? Are you getting that much extra with the suite vs. just getting two normal rooms?

TheHotel, despite the location, is a reasonable all-suite hotel. The couch is sleep-worthy (not a pull out, but will work) and there are 1.5 bathrooms, so 2 potties! It's usually not too pricy either.

Palazzo has the advantage of 2 queens plus a fold out couch. I can't think of anything else in that quality range with those options, within your price range.

With 5 guys there is no advantage to the 2 bedroom suites and suites are way overpriced for the add'l space vs even 3 single rooms.

I think no matter what - it will be cheaper doing two separate rooms and making it 2 people per room. You will get charged $30/night for anything above 2 people per room that you list when making the reservation. All of the suites are vastly overpriced for what you get, and with a weekend included I really dont see how you guys can make Venetian/Palazzo work with those prices (I see it was suggested) not to mention, the atmosphere isn't really in my opinion tops for young guys.

Definitely go that route and just get them next to each other if possible. As for where - it just comes down to preference on what location you like, what quality you are wanting and price point.

With $250/night for BOTH rooms and if you are planning on including a weekend - I would say Planet Hollywood for a mid strip option, MGM for a south strip option and possibly TI for a mid/north strip option. All 3 are good options for young guys, above the average tier, but within your price range depending on the weekend. All 3 have a combination of either the right price, a good young person pool area, good bar/energy on property.

I'd go with 2 rooms honestly. I know how guys are, they don't wanna sleep with each other LOL. Most of the suites only have 1 bed... The Palazzo/Venetian and THEhotel do not have pull out couches.

For a big quite the 1 bedrooms at the Trump are 1000sqft. But yea only 1 bed, and a pull out sofa, but 2 full bathrooms with 2 showers that's a bonus. And a kitchen. So that's nice. But, no casino.. if that's an issue, but can walk to the Wynn. Also, this hotel runs pretty reasonable, probably the cheapest you can get for a big one bedroom suite in a 5 star hotel. I think we are paying $169 for the 1 bedroom this month (over a weekend).

Regardless I'd go with 2 regular rooms just about anywhere. I think any large enough 2 bedroom suites are going to be above your budget. I'd look at regular rooms at PH, MGM, Mirage or Luxor. I think can easily be done for $125 a night if not less depending on when you are going.

Also don't tell them how many people you have, and you and maybe 1 other friend check in and make the others hang back with the luggage. They won't charge you if they don't see you.

Not knowing the week you all are going (thinking March Madness?) rates could be outrageous around that time. I would suggest going with a hotel that has adjoining rooms. Me and 2 other friends did this at Treasure Island a few years back. We had 4 beds (you can easily get a roll away from the hotel) and 2 bathrooms... which with 5 guys might just be a must. We kept the adjoining door between rooms open at all times and it worked out pretty well for us.

I know the Mirage also has a hospitality suite you can get that can also come with a 2 bed adjoining room. It also came with a fairly comfortable couch you can sleep on. The room was a pretty good size too. Not sure if that would fit your price range though as you have to call about those.

most places have suites with connectors, but they can be just as pricey as a 2BR suite. everybody wants the extra living area of a suite and to live the Hangover life, but mid-strip, you're going to pay for it.

    Dude...

This just screams for 2 rooms so you know...what happens in Vegas can stay in Vegas. And not make your buddies listen. :poke:

$250 a night and sharing beds are somewhat conflicting. I would go for cheaper hotel, and SEPARATE beds... two rooms. Different days in March will of course vary WIDELY. Do some checking now to see where your rates are.

The fastest way to want the trip to end is to bunk with others.

    get 5 rooms.

get 5 cheap ones if you have to and yes, you can get 5 rooms for way under $250 if you try.

Its not so bad bunking with someone on a business trip but add in tons of booze and 24/7 atmosphere and it quickly ruins it.

you will not look forward to going back to your room at night because someone will either be going with you, of the same sex, or already be there smelling the place up.

Now lets not forget about stuff being charged to your room that you will have to work out as well.

save yourself the hassle, get your own room.
