My intended bank roll for my upcoming trip is $4,000. We will be in Vegas for three days. Normally I would just divide my bank roll by 3 and play with the same amount each day. This time I think I'll use $1,000 each day for gambling and then in one session by in with the xtra $1000.
So, I would like your opinions and advice on what I should do with the $1,000 buy in. Should I play craps and if so at what denominations.
Should I play roulette and use $5 chips and try and go for a big win.
I like blackjack and know how to play correctly but find myself kinda board with it so I think I'll stay away from that unless someone convinces otherwise.
Maybe playing slots at higher limits is an option.
Anyways your thought and ideas would really help me out.

I understand that buying in for $1,000 is less than a lot of people here buy in for at games. But it will be double my largest single buy in for me, so it will be exciting for me.

    Shot in the dark -

Craps - 1)$100 pass plus full odds - leaves you with $500 or so left - 2)place rest inside around $150-180 each - 3)hope for heater 4) profit!

walk around the high limit room at MGM or Mandalay and see if you can find a good baccarat shoe....one hand $1,000. Its pretty much a 50/50 shot.

If it was me, I'd go to my favorite casino where I felt most comfortable and have had good "mojo" before.

I'd put the $1k in a $5 VP machine of my choice and play DDB. In fact, it's ironic that you posted this because I have been thinking of doing exactly that on my next trip...I usually only play $1 VP/$5 max bet where this game will be $25 max bet.

For you .... I'd only do this if you like VP and if you know how to correctly hold for this game.

Good luck whatever you do and most of all, have fun with it!

    Straight Flush = $1,250
    4 OAK 5-K = $1,250
    4 AOK 2,3,4 = $2,000
    4 OAK Aces = $4,000
    4 AOK 2,3,4 w/ the Ace kicker = $4,000
    4 OAK Aces w/ 2, 3 or 4 kicker = $10,000
    Royal Flush = $20,000

I guess you are not a slot player but I'd give myself a stop loss of a set amount of money, play the Max Bet on a 3 reel $5 WOF or a $1 Double or Triple Jackpot 7's game and hope for the best.

Hi there...can you please explain "how to correctly hold for this game".

    Thanks :)

Funny you suggested this. Last trip I discovered The Cal has multiple denomination games going up to $5, at the bar and I'm thinking of giving it a shot this next trip. I usually play $1. And if IIRC, :drunk:it was 9/6 for DDB, so 98.98% according to Dancer.

Actually I really enjoy slots. I seem to gravitate towards the video slots. Love them bonus rounds.

So slots are definitely an option.

He is just suggesting playing $5 DDB if the OP knows the correct strategy for the game.

Each VP game has its own strategy, which takes a while to learn.

I would try a $10 Top Dollar/WOF or $5 DDBP as Dean mentioned.

Respectfully, if you are not familiar with and pretty darn good at correct strategy for video poker, then this would not be a wise option for you.

Given the extra $1000, I think I'd divide it up into 'more bets at lower denom', 'fewer bets and medium denom', and 'one flyer bet at high denom'.

For example. $300 on the $5 slot or maybe the Lion's Share machine at MGM, $300 doing $10 chip spins on roulette, and a run at craps with $50 on the passline, with 2-5 times odds.

If you get bored with blackjack, you could always make it more interesting by spreading multiple hands. Say, spread 3-4 hands of $50, so you're not just playing 1 hand at a time. If you play at the right time of day, you could just have the table to yourself and play your hands.

I'd say play whatever game gives you the most "it" factor -- whatever excites you most -- and just play a higher denom to get your blood pumping.

    Some ideas other than blackjack:
    1) Craps: start with $25 pass line, full odds and play a come bet or two. If you start winning, you can press this up a little, but have a win target. I like the action of dice, so that's why I suggest this rather than the previous poster $100 pass line with odds suggestion.
    2) Find a 5, 10 or 25 dollar machine with a minigame you enjoy. I know some people play high dollar pinball or WoF, but I'm not that familiar with any of the others.
    3) 50 or 100 play video poker. That's $250 or $500 a press at the dollar level. I did the 50 play with a buddy a while back and got dealt 3oak, so we were able to get a handpay of around 1600 I think. It's really fun to hit max deal and just watch the screen light up on the draw.
    4) Put $500 on red/black in roulette. If you win, press it ;)

Good luck. I hope you report back to us after you do it. Oh, and if your chosen method wins you some money, I hope you put the winnings toward someone else's suggestion. Cheers

I think the most hands I've played is maybe 3, and I thought that was the max. Will they let you do all 6 seats at once? Does it have to be double the table minimum for each spot to play each seat?

What? Where has anyone said match play? You know you have to be a pretty big whale to get $1,000 match play

Hm, I've never played more than 3 hands, either. Also, as soon as I got to the $25 level, I didn't have to double the table minimum for each spot. This may be up to the pit boss. Anyone have any insight on whether they'll let him play more than 3 hands?

I don't think I'll play more than three hands at blackjack. If I play blackjack with the xtra $1000 I would ask for $25 chips and play one hand trying to press with wins. $1000 just isn't enough money to cover the swings at 5 spots. I'm thinking craps might be the key, however I don't think putting it all out on one role is the ticket for me. I'm thinking getting greens and playing pass with odds place 6 and 8 and maybe some come bets with odds.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep em coming you never know I will probablyly change my mind many times.

I think you could weather the storm pretty easily playing 2 spots of $25 and then start pressing up on wins. I've done that pretty successfully with half that bankroll, so unless you hit a really cold deck/shoe, you should be okay.

I have another thought: what about using the money to play something you wouldn't ordinarily play, but have always been intrigued by (even if it's a higher HA game)? 3 card poker, let it ride, blackjack switch, roulette, etc. Or sports bets. I don't know your history of gambling, but you could always use it to go for the glory on a game you wouldn't otherwise play.

For me, I'd probably play higher craps, 50 or 100 play VP, or just go for the high dollar slots, for the "lottery ticket" factor. You never know, you could turn $1,000 into 20k.

I do hope you update us after your experiment, though. Good luck!

I did something similar the past trip and played some higher limit slot machines.

Also plan to do it again this next trip.
