I was going to ask this question on a previous GRS thread, but the were a little further back- So here we go-

Currently have a reservation booked for Thursday 8.30. And thrilled to be trying a GR meal for the first time. I've done my homework. Read the reviews from Y!, compared comments from GR, Carnevino, Delmonico, etc ( all the steak joints on this end of the strip). But I'm still having my reservations about the place. I'm not certain why either. Just from the menu, selection of items, pricing seems a little higher compared to others- and looking at the pics, appears portion size looks a little smaller compared to say Delmonico. I say go for it- I'm certain my wife and I will love it. Really looking forward to sharing the Wellington.

I don't know. Can I get some opinions. New ones?- Anybody dined recently who would mind sharing their experience? Good or bad.
    Appreciate it :)

It is not a traditional steak house. It is more like a hodgepodge of high end bar food, a few haute cuisine type dishes, and a modern/European take on steakhouse dishes. I enjoyed it (twice) and would return again. However, I am in Vegas all the time and I would NOT consider this either a favorite nor one of the best places in town. I know of no one who has been blown away by the place--most people who go there are either looking for a traditional steakhouse or a hushed fine dining experience, and both groups leave disappointed.

I thought the cavatelli pastas were exeptional, the fish and chips very good, and the steaks good enough. Service is professional but the place is full and music is very loud which gives it a chaotic atmosphere. If you are looking for value, large portions, or a quiet dining room--this is not your place. If you want a sample of GRs cooking, are willing to accept you are not at a steakhouse or a 3 star, and willing to pay a bit of a premium to get it--here is your chance.

And if you think you are going to share the Wellington--you will have an issue with the portion sizes.

We just got back from LV yesterday and our friends were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversay and had their dinner there. They eat very high end meals all over the world and said that the filet they had just may have been the best they had ever had...the taste of the meat exceeded their expectations. They also had the shrimp cocktail and said they've never seen shrimp soooo big and tasty. Just thought I would share their experience. Hope you like it. :)

I ate there last night and while not mind blowing, it was a VERY excellent meal. I normally dislike going to high-end steak houses because they all sort of seem the same and few surprises are to be had. I'd rather spend my money doing a tasting menu with creative plating and flavor profiles I've never experienced. But Gordon Ramsay Steak made me a very happy camper last night.

The bread choices are excellent. The pancetta brioche rolls and the one with the blue cheese were great.

The steaks are done the way steaks should be done. They had a nice crust and very flavorful. The seasoning was spot on, the fat was rendered nicely, and the flavor of the beef took your taste buds for quite an adventure.

Dessert was probably the best I've had at a steakhouse. The sticky toffee pudding is amazing. It's warm and moist and airy and rich, while managing to not be too sweet. The browned butter ice cream it was paired with was perfect. To offset the richness of sticky toffee pudding, we also got the watermelon sorbet panna cotta. The watermelon sorbet was refreshing and the panna cotta underneath gave the sorbet a creaminess and altered the taste to be almost like a watermelon creamsicle.

Overall, this was the best steak house experience I've ever had. The cow was the star that night, and the staff should be proud of that.

Our meal lasted over two hours and I could only find one true fault and one nitpicky one.

My ONLY true complaint of the night was the garnish of the steak. There were a few pieces of leafy greens thrown onto the steak for the sake of color (I think it was baby spinach? I didn't pay attention to them). They added nothing to the plate and had no business being there. The ones in contact with the steak were starting to wilt and we all just pushed them off to the side as we ate. It never occurred to me to eat one, but I doubt it would have paired with the beef in any way. If they want a contrasting color on that plate, make a simple pesto polenta square or something. The days of non-functional garnishes passed years ago.

Now for my nitpicky complaint. The panna cotta was a bit too firm. While I think this may have been done intentionally to hold up the watermelon sorbet, it was too firm to be called a panna cotta.

Went to GRS late May. I love all things Gordon Ramsey so the choice for me to eat there was more Celebrity driven than steak house driven. I do enjoy good food and in a steak house I prefer a Ruth Chris's for reference.

Service was attentive. I enjoyed all the small and not so small details, such as the coordinated pouring of the soup, down to the matching pocket watches the servers wore. Gordon is known for being a perfectionist and it shows in his restaurant.

We got the tasting menu. Everything was wonderful. The Beef Wellington melted in your mouth. Yes, the portions were small, but that is a "tasting" menu, so I can't complain too much. I did not leave there hungry. The tasting menu came with a particular desert which was not the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Before I ordered I asked if I could substitute the desert. The waiter told me he needed to check with the chef. I got a kick out of that. The chef did allow it. The funny part is Mom got the desert that came with the menu. I of course had to taste it and it went with the meal so perfectly I was almost sorry I strayed. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was very good don't get me wrong. The other just paired so well. Lesson learned believe in the chef.

All in all it was a wonderful experience. Would I go back? No. But I'm glad I went. Was the food worth the price? At $300 including tax and tips, no way. But for me the experience of having Gordon Ramseys Beef Wellington, which I've seen made hundreds of times on Hell's Kitchen, was priceless.

If you want an experience go. If you want a good steak, I'm sure there are steaks just a good somewhere else for less money.

I would certainly not go in there with shorts, nor did I see anyone w shorts there, and I think you would look like an idiot if you did wear them. I doubt they would refuse to seat you if you arrived in shorts--but--can't you just hear GR? "Get out of here, you effen slob! Mac Donald's is across the way!"

That said, PLEASE let's not turn this into another "dress code" thread. Dress according to what makes you comfortable in Vegas, realizing that others will be well dressed in higher end places. If you want to wear shorts, go to a place where that is the norm. There are plenty of those.

Sadly, he most likely will not be in Vegas through most of September. Season 11 of Hell's Kitchen is currently filming and these sort of competition shows normally film for a month or so straight. He filmed episode 1 here in Vegas (I was in the audience!) on August 17th. Since they already got their Vegas shots in, I wouldn't think he'd be coming to Vegas again as part of the show.

He did drop by his restaurant the night he was in town to film the episode.

I think the Season 10 finale airs in early Sept? So you might see the winner in the back playing Head Chef? Not sure if that's any consolation.

My reservation is on Labor Day. I've read most of the reviews as well, and my mouth is already watering for the Beef Wellington.

One question I did have is about the menu. The online version at the Paris LV site is from the spring. Has anything been updated? specifically the appetizers?

I'll be there for our reservation next week! Can't wait to try it out! Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef are pretty much the only shows I even bother DVR'ing and actually watching. I've always wanted to try that beef wellington!

    Looking foward to go back.

We went in mid July. The wait staff was great. The cucumber gin drinks were amazing. I took my parents who live in Las Vegas. My mom had the double cut pork chop and my dad had a New York Strip. They both said it was their best dinner ever. I had the Beef Wellington, I should of double ordered it. Really really good. Desserts were great also. I already made a reservation for them for their upcoming anniversary. But expect a nice bill in the end. Use a comp :) that helped out greatly.

Does anyone know if there is bar seating? Doing a solo-trip soon and I rather not sit at a table bymyself....

Also do I need to make reservation at the bar? I dont think you do, but you never know....

I ate here on 8/18 and let's see how many questions I can answer:

I saw plenty of people in shorts and dressed very casual, and plenty of people dressed in suits

You can use your TR points, they will swipe the card so no need to get a comp ticket

They have a bar area with seating for about 20 (2 sides of the bar)

The food is amazingly flavored and expensive (It is on par with similar places in Vegas)

The sides (truffle potatos specifically) are very very good

Although it may not be a traditional steakhouse, it's a steakhouse (They roll the cart of all the cuts of meat and you pick what you want)

The service was great and very attentive, but not stuffy

It was not as busy as a I thought for a Saturday night; I made my reservation 1 week in advance and we could have walked in and been seated rigth away. It was about 90% full.

The portion size (non tasting menu) was just right, I guess if you are bigger you might leave hungry. I didn't leave hungry, but I wasn't at the point where I waddled out all sick

The Music Issue - It's a Vegas Resturaunt, the music is semi loud, but you can easily talk to the people at your table and it is not a issue. If the music is an issue then you probably should have went to the Sidewalk cafe in Bally's where you hear nothing and sit amongst the elderly with hearing devices.

The Hell's Kitchen winner is not there, the winner starts after the show is over

    I-pad drink menu

Also they let you use an I-pad to view and order drinks. The meat cart with the mirrors showing all of beef. Nice Touch. They do have a bar that serves food. You can also get drinks to go out on the casino floor. Try the cucumber gin drink. I was very refreshing and did some damage.
