So, how many floors is Neonopolis, anyway? (Only been in there twice, IIRC, and not recently.)

Glad to see this moving along... it's gotta be a help to downtown. My understanding is that the gay community tends to be well educated and has money to spend, which make them an ideal addition to the area. WELCOME!!!!

I can't speak for the entire gay community, but can certainly generalize. We tend to have child-free households, plenty of income for leisure and entertainment and LOVE to revitalize neighborhoods and complexes that have previously decayed. This is a win win winner!

Wish I owned the Gold Spike about now. I see some progressive things that could be happening.

    Way cool.

This is a major score for Downtown and Neonopolis in particular. Frankly, I was skeptical a year ago about plans there and have been very pleased to find I was wrong. Things are really looking up.

Mostly unrelated to this thread, so I apologize for hijacking. But after reading the article from lvrj that tatterdema posted, I noticed the article mentioned "the first Denny's supper club concept in the United States" is scheduled to open at Neonopolis in November.
We've heard that a Denny's was to be opening at Neonopolis for a while now, but this is the first I heard of it being a supper club.

BTW, tatterdema, "less than positive" is a polite way of putting it. I interpreted those comments as downright closed-minded and ignorant.

I am happy to see businesses opening and triving downtown. Plenty if fun for everyone there.

I spoke to my contact at Plaza several months ago about marketing to the LGBT community and they were soft on the notion. Looks like another bad move. Kudos to Downtown Grand for taking a chance.

And if Krave Massive gets as many patrons as their owner claims they will, Downtown Grand will be doing much better than taking a chance, they'll be raking it in.

Those comments were positively hateful and disturbing. I can't believe in the 21st century that people still brazenly behave that way. Like it or not, we're part of this planet, just like any other demographic. It's comforting and gratifying that I've never seen responses of this nature on our board.

Great news for DT, and the Grand. The strips loss is DT's gain. Finally Neonopolis will come to life.

Not much chance of running into Mick Huckabee there!!

    I'm good with that.

I want a downtown that is fun, has low limit gambling and people enjoying themselves.

This fits right into that scenario.

as far as I'm concerned if people have a problem with the fact that some of those enjoying themselves happen to be gay then they need to have a good long look at themselves.

While I don't agree that this will SAVE neonopolis for sure. I DO agree that it is nice to see SOMEONE downtown catering to my friends in the GLBT community.

As a flight attendant I have many friends who I will have pay a visit to the new Neonopolis.

I think it's going to take more than catering to an affluent group of individuals to solve all of neon's problems.....but it is a step in the right direction.

So, how long will it be until we see pornslappers downtown handing out "Boys Direct To Your Room" cards? :)

Downtown still seems like an odd location, but I'm sure it's much cheaper. I'm not sure the people that hang out in downtown and the gay community are a good fit for each other.

It's still kinda cool! I always enjoy gay clubs with my gay friends.
