Slots Best $5 Slots

I'm going to play the $5 slots on occasion in the Wynn HL room for our next trip mostly for a change of scenery (never played in there)....does anybody that frequently plays them have any advice on what might be the better game? I'm thinking a 2 credit machine w/ smaller payouts probably pays more often than one w/ a large jackpot but being VP players, I don't know the difference between the ones w/ the 7's and the ones w/ the stars.

I know the stats in Casino Player have the strip at pretty decent returns on $5 slots compared to $1 and less....not that I "expect" to win...after all, it is gambling.

you won't find $5 reel slots in the Wynn HL room. They are all outside.

I play $5 top dollar, WOF and Pinball.

I believe Wynn HL starts at $25 - at least their old HL slot room did - though perhaps that has changed since they opened the new room.

 

There is no difference. They are just "pictures" on the reels. The differences are going to be in the payout structure. Machines with lower jackpots are going to pay more often than those with high jackpots. Over time, they pay out the same. It is all in the variance.

The higher in denomination that you go, the higher the return (not on individual machines, but the full range of that denomination) ie, $5 machines payback at a higher percentage than $25, and $100 machines payback better than $25 etc. Obviosly, the big one is $1 machines comapred to .25 and .01 machines. There are many .01 machines that pay in the low 80% range, whereas the $1 machines are in the 89% to 96% range. There are many books, including the ACG that outline denomination payback.

As far as $5 machines, I would have to say that Top Dollar is a solid bet. Yes, they run $10 per spin, but many times my $200 initial investment has resulted in a bonus round, which on a $5 machine can pay VERY well. I also really like the Pink Diamond $5 slots. They are Blazing 7's-esque (or the orginal Goldfish for you penny slots fans) in that they provide enough small hits to keep you in the game longer.

Beware that some of your 50k and 100k jackpot $5 machines will eat Benjamins like candy. They have to in order to pay out even mid-level jackpots.

my fav is the top dollar. however, the last few times i've played the $10 and $25 top dollar i haven't won a thing. but that's just variance for you.

 

I love $5 slots. I won on the Windfall $5 slots at the Wynn. I have seen alot of wins on them. I have been looking at the High Roller Room. It has not called my name yet. There is a $100 machine at Caesars that I have been dreaming about.

 

The "regular" Double Diamond machines (including Deluxe and Haywire) pay out 800 for one coin and 1600 for two. So you can play one coin at a time and (percentage wise) have the same pay table.

I don't know if playing one coin vs two changes the payback percentage.

 

Not on that particular game. As a matter of fact, most slots are identical for 1 credit versus max until the top paytable, or jackpot. The increase in payout percentage for the jackpot makes house advantage drop when playing max bet, so on most games it's wise to play max bet. The diamond games are one of the exceptions.

To add to that... The winning (or losing) combination on a slot pays out per the paytable, so it is always nicer to win the higher amount on a multi credit bet, but also realize that your bankroll may have been eaten up by the incresed wagering to get to that particular hit. (we won't get into your timing being off by fractions of a second, ultimately changing the outcome of the game, which is true)

Basically, in the world of 2 credit Double Diamond slots, you are far better off (theoretically) playing 1 credit on a $10 machine than 2 credits on a $5 machine. The $10 machines have a lower hold, and will payout a higher return over the long run. Food for thought.

Thanks for all the info guys...that's exactly what I was looking for Feedback on games w/ no LARGE jackpot that "theoretically" will pay reasonably sized jackpots more often.

I've been a VP nut quite a while but find I'm in need of some variety to keep it fresh so I'm going to start playing more PGP again and hit some regular $1, $5 and maybe $10 slots this next trip too.
