Reading a few of the trip reports, etc I notice that many usually stay within the hotel/area where they are staying and some venture out to other hotels/areas...so I was wondering...How do you do Vegas?

I am one that is always out and about, going to different hotels/areas throughout the day, walking around, shopping, gambling, drinking, etc. It is rare that I am in one location for hours - except for sleeping and dancing. I like to see what has changed from the last time I have been to Vegas (I go about once a year) as well as try new things out.

    The more Vegas trips I've taken ( 22 yrs worth / 2 to 4 times a year ) --
    the less I move about.
I split my week's stay from Downtown to ( usually ) an
off strip property or Stratosphere --- so I get to see enough without having
to make it a "destination excursion".
I'm older, now, so I have less energy --
I still workout( weights/swim/or treadmill ) everyday while in Vegas -
so that zapps me pretty good.
I hang more these days at the property I'm staying at.

    What he said.

The more I explore, the less I move around.

I can say that for my upcoming trip I will be moving around less because I have done satisfactory exploration for myself to know what I like, so I do not feel like I am missing anything. In so many ways, I can focus.

However, I still will be moving around because what I love is in many different places. Nevertheless I love the comfort and convenience of Vegas resorts and would love to one day find a complete resort for me to relax for majority of my vacation.

I agree with the others, I make 3 trips a year, so there is less and less I need to see. I now frequent lots of the same places and I always find a new spot or two, I just dont do the all day walks up and down the strip like I did on the first 3 or 4 trips.

Part of the fun of going often is you start to feel more at home and start to frequent places that you have found enjoyable in the past.

I'm with OP - if I'm not at a table, I'm not one to lounge poolside, find a 3-hour dinner, sit at a 90-minute show, or otherwise sit around. So I like to explore as well, whether with car (Red Rock Canyon) or just walking the Strip. But I can imagine that many people get their fill of "exploring" just going from their hotel to one or two of their favorite destinations.

Explore implies that I am going to new, "unexplored" places. I guess I wander more than explore, since I've been most places along the Strip.

Yeah, having been to Vegas enough times we've pretty much seen all we have to see - so at this point, we mostly stick to the property we're staying at, and usually only venture off-property a few times to either shop or eat at another property - and even then it's usually only the property next door - that's why anymore we stay at Aria [easy access to both Bellagio & Monte Carlo] or Wynn or Palazzo [easy access to each other & Fashion Show Mall]

I usually only gamble at another property other than the one we're staying it if I'm having bad luck there and feel I need to hit another place to shake up my luck.

Jilly - If I had your comps (from what I read in the trip reports) not sure how far I would venture out..maybe less than I do now. I'm always a person on the go and like to change it up but if it was where my play matters maybe that would change...i'm a low roller

After who knows how many trips in approx 30 yrs, we always gamble, eat and pool where we stay. Last trip, we never left Wynncore although we had planned to...just never got around to it, we were having such a good time...LOL

We go twice a year for a week each time so Vegas is our vacation spot...not just a gambling trip so I want to relax too. Chill at the pool, still go to the gym and do my workout and just walk around having cocktails and eating a bit here and there and gambling in between at night and drinking my double mocha espresso in the AM and playing....I love morning play. It's laid back and you can hear the music real well and just take it all in while that espresso starts my heart!:licklips:

That said, we do plan to take a trip down to Aria and Bellagio for our Sept trip since I want to check out the Aria casino and the new lounge at Bellagio out by the fountains.

I'd have to agree with the sentiment that the more trips we make to Las Vegas the less we feel the need to go out and about and see/do everything.

I'd say for the first seven trips we made to Las Vegas we probably averaged going to more than 20 different casinos over the course of a visit, of which we'd see many of them multiple times each trip so we could end up getting out to 6-9 casinos a day.

But now its really getting to where we spend much more time at the casino where we are staying and then probably check out the casinos around us. Like if we are staying at Monte Carlo we'll visit their casino, Aria and NYNY for sure and then maybe Bellagio and if we really need to mix things up maybe go to either Excalibur or Tropicana.

Some of this does depend on how luck is treating us: if neither of us is doing well in a particular casino we'll go to another casino... so if we end up on a bit of a losing streak we could still go out and end up hitting the old 6-9+ casinos in a day but if luck is on our side then we'll usually do one place during the day and then a different place at night.

That's what is nice about Paris. No more then a 10-15 minute walk to 6-8 other hotels.

For my baccarat plays I just stick to my usuals namely Wynn/Encore, MGM Grand and occasionally The Cosmo. In between I mostly like to walk around the Forum Shoppes and the Fashion Mall. As for dining I have no particulars except that in every trip there has to be a stop at In-N-Out.

During the day we tend to bounce around and do some walking.
In the evening after dinner we stay within our "home" casino to drink and gamble (and hopefully win) the night away.

Oh almost forgot. Really enjoy going to the AMC behind the MGM Grand for movies. Matinee for like $6. It is a bargain compared to what is in NYC. And if you are daring enough you can even sneak in for free but I wouldn't recommend it.

I walk the whole strip throughout the day doing whatever I want, then about midnight or so I head back to my home casino and start gambling. I get pretty wasted while gambling so I like to know my rooms a short walk away.

Every morning I get up & ready, and hit up a vp bar (usually Circle bar at NYNY) for some Bloody Marys and White Russians. Then I will venture out and normally grab something to eat wherever it strikes me. I really enjoy walking the strip with drink in hand to check out the changes in my favorite town. I still like to hang out an afternoon or evening downtown or venture out to the Orleans. I gamble a little in each casino, but save the majority of my play for the evening at my home casino.

I truly enjoy ALL of Vegas. As for my gambling, since I have been booking my reservations through a host, I try to focus my play there.

I play craps during the day

    Eat and drink at night.

Walk around and see things I have not seen before during the day. Which is going to be hard to do this trip as I have done just about everything the past few trips I wanted to do, and there are no new casinos open for me to tour.

Not sure what I am going to do this trip to be different. I guess I check out the new Sportsbook at the Palms.

I know I will be able to watch football

Cowboys and Giants Wednesday September 5.
SMU at Baylor oN Sunday September 2
Georgia Tech at Virgina Tech on Monday September 3

When I have friends it is definitely sit by the pool and drink during the day and then gamble at night.

We rarely leave the hotel either. If we are staying at Wynn, then we will move around between Wynn and Encore. When we stay at Aria, we might take the tram and go and play at Bellagio.

I like to go to a hotel, gamble, gamble, gamble and never leave the property. :evillaugh
