The Baboo and I were watching some movie this morning and I spotted a screw up. I don't even know the name of the movie but it was about 4 nerds going on a quest to steal the new Star Wars film from George Lucas so that they could be the very first ones to watch it before it hit the theaters. (yeah, Baboo's ability to pick classic movies is legendary in our house)

Anyway, they meet up with their secret contact (turned out to be William Shatner) in Las Vegas to get some info & the keys to Lucas's house. A couple of them go down to gamble a while until the meeting and they wind up playing blackjack. That is all cool except that they were playing blackjack on a Three Card Poker table. I noticed that the felt was not a blackjack layout right away and pointed it out to Baboo who confirmed. It wasn't like the camera shot was from a distance. It was right on top of the table and you could read every word on the felt. They dealt out 3-4 different rounds before the scene was over. I guess that they thought no one would notice. Well, us degenerate gamblers pick up on things like that.

I pick up on that stuff all the time. In Vegas Vacation, in the scene where Chevy Chase is throwing craps and Randy Quaid shows up, Clark is on a comeout roll and there are numerous Come bets.

In an episode of Las Vegas, they show an overhead of a craps table, someone rolls the dice and everyone cheers... and everyone walks away from the table (without picking up any money).

No, I am not nitpicking... I am admitting proof of being a true degenerate!

    The movie is called "Fanboys".

And yeah, that's a surprisingly lazy mistake.

But when a movie or TV show addresses anything that you're a particular fan/addict/follower of, it is usually a bad experience.

For example, I couldn't enjoy "Casino Royale" because the poker scenes were so absurd.

Can not agree more with you. I love james bond films and have saw all of them many time's, except Casino Royal. I saw it once and every time I even think about watching it again it just makes me cringe.

The ones that always get me are the shots of a car driving down the Strip. I don't think I have ever even seen one where the shots of the casinos were in sequence. Maybe they're driving north. They always start with The Flamingo, then maybe the Bellagio fountains, then TI, then Paris, etc. Don't they know 12 million people a year go to Las Vegas and will know how screwed up it is?

I mean, the movies pay big bucks to get technical advisers for war movies and things so they will get things "right", but something this simple they just take a pass on? Makes no sense. I'll tell ya, if I ran the world........

That probably often depends on who paid for product placement, sad to say.

The worst is ConAir with Nick Cage. They crash the plane on the strip yet somehow manage to destroy the hard rock guitar....that one always make me laugh.

Im a poker player, have been for almost 15 years so so here it is. Poker game, the mood is tense, plenty staring going on, someone bets (Usually with crappy plastic disks not even chips) guy stares back then states "Ill see you.....and raise you all in!" I think it was the movie 21 where the guy states he is in a suite at the Palms.
Then he looks out the window and he is on the strip.
