Okay, I’m well aware of the season. It is hotter than balls in Vegas these days. And as the mercury rises in Vegas, so too does the amount of goodies that casinos are willing to dangle in front of us to get us to fill their rooms/tables/machines/restaurants/nightclubs. I get it.

But what I’ve been getting from Venetian/Palazzo the past few weeks goes well beyond the usual seasonal uptick in offers. I haven’t set foot in either property in over a year, and haven’t stayed or played in any serious capacity (that is to say, more than the odd twenty in a machine as I’m passing through) in probably two or three years. Yet, not only am I getting offers that are every bit as good as what Milf sends me* – and they get the lion’s share of my play – but I’m probably averaging two or three emails/mailers a day over the past few weeks. This after having received maybe a half dozen offers total in the past few years – and most of those were incredibly weak, even during slow times of the year.:confused2:

    Anyone else seeing the same?

*By “Milf offers” I mean the actual “good” offers I get from Milf, not the odd “From $79 weeknights at Excal” ones that inexplicably get thrown into the mix. :rolleyes2:

It seems like they are at least dangling the carrot again, but beware.

After being on their "no-fly" list during the 2011 debacle, I started getting offers again late last year at around the same level as before.

So I stayed in Feb and reached Gold in that one trip, which isn't that huge a deal. For the next few months I continued to get the same level of offers, which included the generic MSO or Monthly Suite Offer, in addition to slot tourneys and other similar promotions that always included 3 nights and some free play.

But for July and August, I've only gotten slot tourney offers, no MSOs w/freeplay, no other promos with freeplay. It is a few days early for August MSOs to show up, but I expected to get one for July.

So it looks to me like they rejiggered their criteria again for the 3rd Q.
Not getting an MSO for July surprised me because they were running public promos with rates as low as $109.

So I'm right back to not trusting them again.

So go ahead and take them up on an offer, but don't necessarily expect to continue to get the same offers after you've stayed.

It could also be that they run promotions where they try to get back "lapsed" players by dangling a bit more than usual, trying to get you loyal to their property again, and like Chuck experienced, once you stay again the offers will decline to a default level based on your play.

I think Nevyn is right. I used to get 3 nights a few years back. Logged on to their site and have a September offer for 3 nights, $400 slot credit/free play, and $100 food and beverage credit. Haven't played there since 2009. I ran $10,000 through the slot machine and lost a $1,000 over those 3 nights. This comp is way beyond what i deserve so it looks like they want some of us back and making over generous offers.

Could be. In any event, I am done with them. Their offers are just nothing like CET or MGM for similar play. Been there. Learned my lesson.

I’m tempted to book one of the offers for my upcoming trip just for the promo chips and food credits. But with those cats, I would not be terribly surprised to come home to find my CC charged for three nights at rack rates if I no/low-played them.

If you want a fun half hour...google recent lawsuits against good old Sheldon, and gaming board related items against him. All around swell guy. I'm looking forward to seeing Palazzo for the first time. But, I don't plan on giving him any of my money.

I think it's pure chicken shit how they treated all they're previous guests and what they did to them! all the ones, that were already on comps and than to have them rescinded, Sheldon can shove it! Just my honest feelings is all.

I think they're pretty desperate to get players of all levels back in there - they've been courting me heavy since January, and when I stopped by one day last month they rolled out the red carpet big time to try to get me to stay there next trip [which worked, I will be staying there next trip] - and believe me, I'm no whale - but from the discussions I've had with my host there,it sounds like they learned their lesson from that "no comps" debacle and are really trying hard to bring the gamblers back in again.

My offers are back to the old levels. I'm gonna take them up on one in September.

I learned my lesson last year. Comps get better in Summer, period. Don't get fooled into thinking this is some brand new sweeping comp policy.....because you will be holding the bag in November when you fall off their radar again.

I've learned my lesson also. Once they started all the sh-t with cutting off the comps, I just went in to get my free play. Used to get up to 4 nights comped and $100 freeplay. I really don't want to make a reservation their and have them cancel it when I am talking to their person at the desk to check in. I DO spend my money on a company that appreciates it, and won't pull back comps.
    See ya later Shelton......bub buy!

Well, we each have to take advantage of what is in front of us, and in this case you have Uncle Sheldon. By all means, take, take, take. You have earned it. However, as a player, I'm skeptical that they learned their lesson. I think its more like a quick case of buyer's remorse. Unfortunately, as this Board is about to see, MGM is quickly following and in 2 years, most folks will be talking of the offers today as the "good ole days."

Anyway, if the V is taking care of you, run with it and don't look back. There again, as my father told me after my divorce, next time, don't fall in love so hard and it won't hurt so bad ----
