Anyone have an error go in their favor? One time I was at MGM at Foxwoods, and had a hard 6 for $50, and I could've sworn it came up soft during one shoot, and they forgot to take it down. The hard 6 hit on the very next roll!

I can't recall one helping me out, but I do remember a few times where something should have been taken down and it wasn't. I just don't think it ever helped me out.

I was playing in northern nv once and there was a guy next to me who had 2 women with him. They kept saying 7 over and over and everytime they said it a seven would come up. It was really getting under my skin so i told them to knock it off.

It was pissing everyone off at the table too.

So one of the ladies was playing the big 6 in the corner right in front of me and every time a 6 would come up the dealer would lean forward to pay it off and shove the chips towards me. he looked me right in the eye while doing it with a smirk on his face so i just scooped itup.

She would look down and see no 6 was there and out more chips on it. If it hit the dealer would give me the same smile and push the chips towards me and i gladly accepted them.

She never caught on nor did the idiot guy she was with.

I think this is a pretty common mistake. Not that there are a lot of mistakes, but this is one that happens more frequently than others. I know I have benefited from it several times.

I have heard some people say that a dealer might do this on purpose, especially when the person placing the bet is also toking the dealers. I wonder about this....would a dealer really be willing to risk getting reprimanded by the boxman for a couple of chips in the box (which he will split with other dealers anyway)

I've had this happen to me more times than I remember (bets left up when they have lost). I'm a very good tipper while playing craps, but I really can't say one way or another if the crews are doing it on purpose. I play with some pretty raw break in crews, but I also play with some pretty seasoned professional ones too and I can't find any rhyme or reason to when, why or where it happens. It might be a mistake, but it might very well be on purpose.

    Craps dealer errors

    - Over 20 years of shooting dice, I have been the reciepient of favorable dealer errors and also some short pays, or occasions where the dealers have forgotten to pay a place bet a time or two.

I have found that in some houses, a few tokes for the crew can cause your hardway bets to remain after the number was rolled soft.

The best "dealer error" that I was benefited from was on a jammed up game at property on the strip. The shooter was on a heater. I had all the boxes covered and a few of the superstitious bettors on my half of the table turned their bets off after the shooter had thrown one of the die off the table.

The next roll the shooter threw a 7, and for whatever reason, the dealer left my bets up as well as the other two bettors who had turned their bets off.

The two bettors that had turned their bets off told the dealer to take them down. The same dealer looked at me and I said, "Take me down as well"...

$340.00 returned to me, and I considered that a nice win.

The box was too busy "sweating" the money to notice. After this roll I looked around the rail and saw lots of green, black and purple cheques in front of everyone, so I doubt the house missed the $340.00 I got back that night...

My advice- throw some tips out for the boys and you too might make/save a few bucks one day...

    Regards,

    Vinegarjoe

I have a brother-in-law that used to always try to correct dealer mistakes that went in his favor. He thought it would be bad Karma to not make the correction. It took a while but I've been able to convince him that he's creating a problem for the dealer when doing this. If the box or camera missed the mistake they for sure won't when he tries to pay the mistake bake.

I've convinced him that if he feels bad about it, make a bet for the dealer with the $$$.

That's a horrible story. So you are stealing bets and winnings from another player in collusion with a dealer and proud of it because she was saying '7'?

I have had multiple instances where a bet of mine should've come down and wasn't and I always suspect it was intentional because I love making dealer bets on the hard ways and horn. I can't remember it ever paying off in a memorable way though.

I'm a George and I'd had way too many errors in my favor to think that it's always an accident. That's one reason I'm a George.

I had a dealer pay me a black chip on a losing $10 bet once, lol.

I promise that dealers/box people will never flat out STEAL to make a tipper happy, but the borderline judgement calls will go your way more. Trust me, dealers will NEVER collude and wreck their career to keep George happy.

I tip regularly and will put the dealers on the line when I shoot. However I don't re-call any dealer errors that ended favorably for me.

I once placed a come bet in the come bet box and the next roll was a yo-eleven. Dealer took my bet instead of paying me. Sigh...

Another time the dealer paid my come bet and took my bet down when it was supposed to be off and on. Again, she mistook my come bet in the come bet box as belonging to some-one else. I was winning and scooped the chips up just before I realized the error. Boxman caught that one and caused a delay of the game which resulted in cooling the shooter and he sevened-out on the next roll. Lot of F-bombs on that one. Sigh...

I'm still waiting for an error to benefit me!

Let me ask the flip side question: How many people have "corrected" a dealer payout, either too much or too little, only to have the dealer or box man correctly say "No, we paid you the right amount"

Point is, we all make mistakes - thinking we should get paid more or less. Just like the dealer will make mistakes.

I have been playing for over 20 years and I still question some payouts. The dealers are right much more often than they are wrong.

So when you think you have been paid too much, or a bet is left up when you thought it should come down, it might be your mistake, not the dealers.

1st time in Tunica a few years ago, on my birthday no less, I bought in for a hundy at Horseshoe and commenced an epic 9 hour session. It got to the Lou t where I was maxing out my odds. The dealers were awesome and fun and would tease people. I made sure to tip throughout.
Anyway one shooter went for a while then sevenec out. The chips were taken down as I looked away. Before the next one started one dealer said 'sir don't forget to collect your chips'
There were 2 greens in front of me. I'm not one to argue in that situation so I collected. I made sure to tip heavily right away-- those chips were supposed to tO to the house but I'm glad they didn't!

An error in my favor happened to me this past Wednesday at the Golden Nugget in LV. I bet $20 on the pass line and the point of 4 was established. I got confused by the 3x 4x 5x odds which are typical at many of the casinos. In this case, I made the mistake and put 5x odds ($100) behind the line and after a few rolls of the dice the point of 4 was made. The dealer paid me off and I collected my winnings.

She continued to work her way around the table and stopped at another player who had bet $25 behind a $5 bet. She said that she would only pay 3x odds and the other $10 would be paid as a flat bet. The box supported her. As she did this, she looked at me but said nothing. I immediately put out a $5 bet for the dealers with $10 odds. She smiled and said thank you for the bet. We both ended up winning our bets.

    :woohoo:

Yeah...I believe this is called stealing, not being mis-paid.

If you've played enough craps you will see it happen.
Over the years I have seen dozens of mistakes in my favor and not in my favor.

It seems like more mistakes have been in my favor but I may have just caught the ones not in my favor.
I have been staying and playing almost exclusively at MGM properties for the past 4-5 years and have not seen many mistakes.

Over ten years ago I used to stay at a major off strip property before it was acquired.
On more than one occasion I threw out a two way hard ten for $50 and $5 for the dealers. If a hard 6 came up they would say"you said a hard six right?"
    Or hard eight or whatever.
They would give me the smirk wink wink.

I would smile, nod,and pick up my chips.
The good old days!!They were cowboys on graveyard shift.

I've seen many, many mistakes in my countless hours of play, both in my favor and against. That's the key reason to already know what you've got out there. If you can, try to calculate in advance what the payout would be just like the dealer would do. To me, it's fun "playing dealer" and knowing what I've got coming with a win. I'm a tipper, so I know first-hand that sometimes dealers look the other way if a bet should come down. I've been paid green for red action on the come out too.

If I see it was a genuine mistake that was in my favor, I do call attention to it depending on the circumstances and if the dealer is friendly or not. If they're a pain... nope.

The biggest mistake I saw was at the Monte Carlo years back. We were waiting for Lance Burton and playing craps right outside the theater. The shooter had a point of 10 and rolled around it for what seemed like forever. One guy who's winning various place bets starts taking $200-$500 hard ten on the hop on top of pressing his hard 10 bet. As it starts to build others go along and the hard ten is just jammed with chips as well as the hard 10 hopping. The hard ten hits and the table just goes crazy. The lady in the box looked really nervous and just had this "Oh no" look on her face. Ends up paying the guy his hard way and hop bet twice which was something ridiculous like $15,000 to $20,000 extra which he took without saying a word. Sadly, I do not play hard ways or hop bets:cry:

I would like to think I would do the right thing and return it but that's a really hard call when you actually have it happen and rack up that much in chips. Not sure I could of handed it back either without being asked to.

Any others on here that would have given it back if they were this guy?
