I think these questions have already been answered elsewhere, but I cannot find it. Two questions: 1. is there any limit on how many express you can accumulate; and 2. do unused express comps expire at some point? Thanks

yes, they say the limit is 5k for platinum and 10k for Noir. however, i have 14k and i know others that have more, so who knows if they actually limit it?

they say they expire if you don't use your card for 12 months. again, not sure if that actually happens or what.

Thanks Shifter. I had heard or read the same thing somewhere, so it is good to know I did not imagine it!

I wish they'd list where you can and can't use them, or at least put logos on stores and restaurants on their websites to signify their acceptance of EC's at that location.
Example, as best I can figure, you can use them at Craftsteak, but not at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon
Seems they can not be used for any purchases in any store, even the MGM logo store

I just wish they were more upfront with where you can and cannot use them, it's kind of embarrassing to ask and being turned down like some street person begging for a nickel.

I really have a problem with MGM over this. I don't play for comps, but like the comps I do earn, and I want to use them, but don't turn it into a shell game of "guess where you can actually use your earned comps"

For Rubouchon, I wonder if you couldn't charge it to your room and then use them at the end to take care of it?

you can always charge F&B to your room and use ECs to cover the room charges. not sure why certain restaurants wouldn't let you use them upfront.

But what if I am staying at a CET property?
This is the kind of insanity I am talking about.
Look, I'm a simple guy, if you tell me I have $100 in MLife comp cash, and they do show it as cash, not points, I should be able to use like cash on their properties in any restaurant and any company owned store, like the logo store. If there are not places you can use it like cash, be upfront about it and either list where it's accepted or have logos on the webpage for that store or restaurant so you know they do...."We accept MLife"
It's a shell game right now....

Almost all Restaurants within MGM casinos will take your express comps. I am guessing a few do not but have not run into them. It would be nice if they just posted a damn list - but that would require them to hire a few hundred IT consultants who would still screw it up. If I was running the website (or any other kid over 12), they could post it on the website in about 10 minutes.

Still, we have not had any problems using ECs for meals. And, no, you can use them for any retail, just like their website says.

I think more and more MGM venues are setting up little placards that indicate theytake mlife comps. I noticed a few of them last week

All restaurants of MGM Resorts shall allow you to apply your Express Comp dollars upfront. It just takes several minutes of the waiter or waitress to check your MLife EC balance and your photo ID, and then process the bill through their machine. Some bad or lazy server didn't bother spending time to handle this quick and easy process.

In my last trip, we encountered a very bad server at Noodles (Bellagio). We knew that she lied about Bellagio did not accept ECs upfront. She insisted on charging the amount into our room or our credit card. We reported this situation to MLife customer service for internal follow-up.

That's ridiculous, it says right on their web site that they expire if you don't play for 12 months.

it actually doesn't say that. what it says is they will not expire as long as you play at least once every 12 months. semantics possibly, but that wording leaves the possibility that they won't necessary expire after 12 months. just like how the rules say you can only keep 10k but everyone i know has more than that.

Most likely, that means CPK is just a tenant. If they are a tenant, they are not part of the mlife system. But you should still be able to charge to the room and pay for it with EC at the end. I think Il Fornio at NYNY is the same way (or at least used to be)

    That's weird :rolleyes2:

I used my EC's at CPK in the Mirage this January. The waitress took my Mlife card and came back to let me know how much I had on there too..

I used some express comps last trip just to burn some off as I expected that I would be capped - but now that I'm back from my latest trip I see that I am over $10K.

No problems using Express Comps at a few restaurants. The Gift Shop at NYNY would not so we simply charged it to the room and use EC for it during check out.
