Laughlin hotels comparison

We've stayed at most of the casinos in Laughlin but for the past several years, we've been getting free rooms at Tropicana.
Now considering trying Golden Nugget, Edgewater or Colorado Belle.
Since these places are always remodeling and changing, not sure what to expect.
The reservations agent for Edgewater and Colorado Belle said that CB has some rooms near the casino that are remodeled.with no revier view....or we can get river view at Edgewater - not recently remodeled.

Golden Nugget has west wing remodeled or east wing not remodeled. We stayed there years ago and kind of liked that it was a smaller hotel.

Anyone have recent experience at these properties?

Hi Imwired, Have not stayed recently in any of those hotels but the Golden Nugget is the best of them. I understand that the Colorado Belle has some river view with a balcony in the upper level of the boat. Some rooms view are obscured by the spokes of the paddle wheel.

There are river view with balcony at the Edgewater right above the river walk.

We have been staying at the Tropicana as well because of the free rooms with very little play. Have look at at the River Palms, very nice place that has been run badly. It has been turned into a slot joint from what I understand. Rooms a nice there. Might be cheap but may not be much action in the casino.

thanks Richard. we may try Golden Nugget next time. They are willing to comp a couple of nights. Aquarius, where we play quite a bit, is pretty stingy about discounting rooms. A lot of people like that property but it's not that special.
River Palms is a bit out of the way.

 

Colorado Belle is my home base in Laughlin, but the rooms are dated (the free ones anyway). It's been a couple years, but I stayed at the Tropicana after they remodeled. Those rooms are far nicer. As are those at Harrah's. Edgewater is no better than the Belle, though, they recently added flat screens to some rooms. Last I was at Aquarius the rooms were very shabby.

Riverside and Golden Nugget are the only two properties I have not stayed.

 

We are in Laughlin twice a year and stay at the Edgewater because we get comped rooms. We were there in late March. We always request rooms in the Sedona Tower because it it the only tower with adjoining rooms. As far as I know the only thing that is new about the rooms is the flat screen TV's put in earlier this year, other than that, I don't think the rooms have been touched since the early 80's when the casino was built. As far as I know I think you will find the nicer rooms at the Golden Nugget, Tropicana Express, Aquarius, and Harrahs.

 

update....we stayed at Golden Nugget....Room was very nice as was access from parking to rooms and casino. Only complaint is that the building is wood construction so you can hear the people above you walking.
