Planning my first trip to Vegas, what is the best least expensive way to get from the airport to the Flamingo?

    Thanks!

I always take a taxi, Tropicana to Koval. Cost is $20 including tip. The shuttles are cheaper if you are solo, I believe in the $7 range. I just can't deal with the waiting for the shuttle to fill, stopping multiple times for other dropoffs, etc... My Vegas time is too precious to save a few bucks this way, but it might be a good option for you if every dollar counts!

In order of expense (you asked "best least expensive way"):

    1. Walk. Five miles. Cost: $0. Hope you have little luggage.

    2. At the airport, go down to Level 0 (find the escalator) and go to the city buses (RTC). Wait for the WAX bus. Buy a 24 hour pass for $5. Take the WAX bus to the Strip (corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Tropicana). Get off. Go across the street to the stop for the Deuce bus northbound. Wait for the Deuce bus northbound. It will drop you off in front of Margaritaville casino, which is attached to The Flamingo. Of course, all this waiting on buses will probably take 45-90 minutes. Cost: $5.

    3. Use one of the airport shuttles. You will find them (there are different companies which offer them) right outside baggage claim. Cost one-way to Strip hotels: Around $7.00. The only disadvantage is that you are waiting for the shuttle bus to arrive and for all passengers to board and their luggage stowed in the back and then your hotel might not be the first to unload-- sometimes you might have to wait for several others passengers to get off at different hotels. So, figure 45-90 minutes as well. Cost: $5 plus tip to the driver.

    4. Taxicab. Make sure the driver does not take the tunnel or freeway, as this would cost more. You're probably looking at at $15-$18 ride plus tip, but you'll get there more quickly.

    5. Limo. Much more expensive.

Both times we have been to Vegas we have used a shuttle. It was $7/pp. Our total time from once we got on the shuttle to our hotel was never more than 25-30 minutes.

We are on vacation so we are never in that big of a rush!

But I do agree, Taxis will get you there faster.

    108 and the 202

You could take the 108 to Swenson and Flamingo St.. Walk across the street on Flamingo ST. and pick up the 202 and get off at Caesars across the strip and walk to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. Or get off the stop before the strip and walk to the Flamingo Hotel, you would not be crossing the strip although you would be walking uphill for short time. good luck.

We avoid the shuttle for many reasons, but one not mentioned is fatigue and car sickness.

After a long flight, time change and too many drinks, riding on a stop and go shuttle van will cost us plenty in "down" time later.

Sometimes, the taxi line is a 30+ minute wait, which can make the time difference between taxi and shuttle not much! But for 2 or more people, a taxi generally makes more sense than the shuttle.
