    My Trip Report

    September 27th

This report is being generated for those report junkies who can’t get enough of Las Vegas tales. I decided to take a break from the hectic life in South Florida and hop a flight to Las Vegas for a few days for my birthday. Used my Delta sky miles and got a lengthy flight from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas via St. Paul. The redeeming factor was that I was able to get emergency row seating on both legs of the flight. The only minus was having to smell the foul odor from my seatmate’s belching on the St. Paul to Las Vegas Leg.

Arrived without incident and hopped the shuttle to retrieve my rental from Dollar. Not a bad deal $109.00 for four days for an economy. First stop was Terrible’s for a chance at their swipe and win promo. Only one kiosk and about 20 people waiting in line. Decided to skip it and try my hand at some video poker. I noticed they have played with their pay tables since December reducing 9/7 to 9/6 to 9/5 on DDB. Most progressive at 8/5. Rather than moving on I decided to play $140.00 that was quickly extracted from my bankroll. Next stop was Ellis Island where I hit a couple of Quad Jacks and 10’s leaving with around $130.00. Ellis did have 9/6 DDB.

Moved onto the Stratosphere for check-in. They had sent me a promo for two nights in a premiere suite and a $50.00 slot comp. The suite was nice, as it did have an excellent Jacuzzi and mini fridge. The TV was dated with no cable. The view was three sided cement walls and an air conditioning unit on the sixth floor. All the optimum play video poker machines are gone, and most machines were 9/5. I hit a Quad Aces on a .25 DDB bonus, but only after inserting the same amount in several machines.

Decided to finish the night at the Palace Station. Had a little success at their optimum play machines then decided to take a chance at a .25 Super Double Double bonus machine. After five hands I was dealt Four Aces…Nice! about $473.00! Finally a decent win. Moved on to another DDB and was dealt Quad Fours and another Quad Queens…Left about $600.00 in hand.

    Tuesday – September 28th
This morning I headed early to the Gold Coast. Managed to hit Quad Jacks on a .25 DDB. Found a couple 9/6 DDB machines but no luck. Swiped my card for 2500 birthday points plus an additional 500 points on a pick the prize bonus. No wins, down $100.
I returned to Palace station but no significant hits. At least I could get a free breakfast buffet by just earning 100 points. Actually the food was pretty good, with the omelet station at the helm. I returned to the Stratosphere and managed to hit 4oak Aces with a kicker on a .10 DDB for $200 using the $50.00 free play.
Take a rest and headed to South Point. Made no progress on any DDB at .25 at 9/6 level. Down to my last twenty and decided to play triple play progressive. Low and behold I hit a royal flush for $216.00 on one line. Essentially ended up $20.00 for that session.
Returned to the Stratosphere and chilled for a few hours. Took the long drive to Suncoast. Decided to again try .5 triple play DDB progressive. Again hit a single line royal flush for $220.00. Moved onto .25 DDB at 9/6 but only a quad of Jacks. Feeling thirsty and dropped by Frankie’s Tiki Bar to drink two bearded clams and poured myself into the car for a ride to Freemont street. Started at Main Street station around midnight….

    September 29th – Today’s your birthday!

Wandered around Main street station but not much luck until I found a 9/7 .25 DDB. Managed to hit quad tens and tried some of the older coin machines with no success. Decided to move to the California. Found a 9/6 DDB at .25 and played for five minute when I was dealt a ROYAL FLUSH!!! Yeah, $1142.00! I was psyched and decided to take a final run at the El Cortez. It was now around 3 am and there were some real characters abound. A transvestite hooker was arguing with a Filipina women that was laughing at her. Security escorted the trans-testicles out the door. Only hit a quad 8’s but no more for the night. Finally could get some sleep knowing I got a real royal…

Finally woke up around 10 am and had a double espresso from starbucks. Used express check out and headed over for a visit to the Silver Nugget. They have a promo that if you are a new player they will reimburse one half of your first day losses with $100 maximum refund. I signed up and tried a couple of $1.00 machines and quickly lost $200.00 in twenty minutes. Player’s club lady said no problem, signed a cashiers form and I got a $100.00 back at the cashier’s cage. Off to Texas station. I milled around at Texas station for an hour and only managed to hit a set of Quad Queens on .25 DDB for about $130.00. Decided to stop over at Fiesta Rancho. Played an optimum machine and finally hit for $273.00 after a $60.00 investment. Sorry, don’t recall if it was quad fours with a kicker. Took the money and promptly left. Time to check in at Fiesta Henderson.
Made it in about 25 minutes to Fiesta Henderson. I used the two night comp with $20.00 slot play and a $15.00 meal credit. Rooms are not bad and clean. Played a .25 DDB and boom hit Quad Aces…moved onto another DDB .25 and boom another set of Quads for $125.00 …played around and went to a Five play and on the first hand hit a single line Quad Aces with a kicker….Wow….I had never had a streak like this before. For about two hours I could not lose. I would be hitting at least full houses or three of a kinds and building my profits….Should have quit when I was ahead. Enjoyed the festival buffet and decided to head over to the Orleans as I was double booked.

Made it to the Orleans and began to slowly lose. Every machine seemed to want to extract my money..I quit after a loosing streak for the night, but felt things would be better tomorrow.

    Thursday – September 30, 2010

I decided to take my $1500.00 in winnings straight to the bank and deposit them in an account I didn’t have a debit card to access them. I had $600.00 left and felt it would parlay , but I was wrong. I headed back to Fiesta Henderson and again see if I could get the mojo working. I managed to eek out a couple of quads but Every machine I played had seemed to tighten up on me….The only good thing was that on Thursdays, video poker players can get free play at the video poker machines which netted me about $15.00. Licked my wounds with $200.00 left and headed back to the Orleans. Again no mojo, but for a Quad four with a kicker on a 9/6 DDB…not enough to par the losses….Decided it was time to pack my bags and quit gaming.

    Friday-October 1st

Made it to McCarran only to be informed my flight was delayed for several hours……Arghh stuck in the airport. Decided to challenge my hypothesis about the slot machines at McCarran. Played only WOF at .25…..believe it or not I managed to hit a spin for 500 coins and another for 150 coins. With some additional bonuses I made about $180.00 profit…who would have believed. Even better Delta also gave me $200.00 in sky miles.
So, with all the fun. I only spent $450.00 for four days of intense gaming. I am looking forward to being back soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, did you have a STREAK going !
    .
I know those Strat jacuzzi suites -
One window facing east....looking at the tower "needle".
    .
Your birthday is the same as both my sisters.
    .
Do you always stay "off strip" ?
I realize, the VP on the strip sucks......just wondering ?
    .
How did Palace St. casino look ?....and the clientele ?
I haven't been in there in years.

Nice TR - love all the VP wins. I believe we may have passed eachother at Ellis Island - I was there on Monday too!

The three places I really enjoyed playing VP at this last trip was Stratosphere, Fitzgeralds, and Southpoint. So much at Stratosphere, I was considering staying there a couple of nights the next trip.

Glad you had some good wins - always makes a trip more fun!

Thanks Joe, I had a pleasent view of three walls from my 6th story suite . I love being in the mix on the strip, but the better paytables are where the locals go to gamble. Palace station is mellow, but not the eyecandy as one would encounter at the Palms. Venture next time out of the city, try Hendersen for sure.
