    My Trip Report

    South Strip 9/18 – 9/25 Lots-o-Craps

    Saturday 9/18
Left Austin in the AM with a stop over in Dallas. Amazingly enough this went smoothly for American. I don’t eat when I fly, so I sent my meal back to a cute girl sitting in the first row of cattle class, the attendant was actually happy to do it (sometimes they won’t).
I watched the movie ‘Gamer’ on my iPhone which is not how this movie was meant to be seen. American could really use some new planes with entertainment.

Taxi didn’t take tunnel even though I didn’t ask. Did the $20 trick upon check in – worked like a charm, was upgraded to tower 2.

As usual I must look like someone that needs to get laid, because I got ‘entertainment’ offers before even reaching my room. Decided to take one lady up on her offer and contribute to her college fund. I highly recommend this as a way to alleviate jet lag. After a refreshing few hours of entertainment I finally unpacked and went and had dinner.

Ate at the Steakhouse at Camelot as it was close and I was hungry. Ate at the bar since I was alone and had the fillet. Fillet was good, fries were just plane fries and mediocre at best. The bartender had no idea about the food, but service was better then usual. (Which is too say usually bad here.)

After dinner went to Mandalay Bay and played craps for a few hours (too many frozen margaritas), then on to Luxor(a few vodka Collins) for a few more hours of craps, then back to Excalibur (probably a few too many vodka Collins) for the final few hours of craps for the night. Pretty much got destroyed at each place so attained a few hours of female companionship to end the evening.

    Sunday
Got up way too early, enjoyed last night’s company again then sent her on her way, and then went to the gym. Not a bad little place, nice equipment for the most part. Not sure what all the 20 something’s are doing there this early, I could sleep all morning at that age. After the gym went to the adult pool. Watched 2 girls preen themselves for 20 minutes before they realized no one was watching (the adult pool at the Excalibur isn’t known for a hip crowd). After realizing all that preparation was going to waste they got up to look for greener pastures…still laughing at their expressions after looking around at us middle age men or couples and realized no one was looking at them. (To be honest I was definitely looking the whole time!)
After sufficiently baking decided to call it quits.
After a long shower went over to the Little Caesars at the Luxor food court. I know I could get it anywhere, but I love pizza and tend to be careful what I eat when not in vegas, so I consider this a treat.
Taxi’d over to Bellagio to for a few hours of craps. Got destroyed again. Walked over to Aria by way of Vdara (again got propositioned many times…must still look like I need to get laid). Played several hours of craps at Aria, up and down, mostly down.
Taxi’d back to Excalibur to put on some pants (was in shorts) and went over to Gallagher’s in NYNY. Had the fillet, always awesome there and the Bruschetta which I highly recommend. After dinner played a few hours of craps then went over to Luxor. Met a few dice setters at the Luxor and had a really good run on the craps table.
On my way back to Excalibur attained some female companionship a few more times before calling it night.

    Monday
Woke up and went to the gym (wow, in vegas and at the gym 2 days in a row).
Spent and hour at the adult pool then back to the room for a shower.
Walked over to food court at the Luxor for some pizza (you’ll notice a pattern).

Gambled at Mandalay (mostly craps with some bj) then headed back to Excalibur waiting for my buddy to arrive. My buddy arrived and we spent several hours at the Excalibur craps table, had a very good run. Went to dinner at Tenders, had the fillet was good but a tad undercooked. The fries were awesome there, not so thrilled with the homemade ketchup. We stayed at the Luxor and played craps and then my newly made dice setting friends showed up. We had a great run and these guys were obviously players there. Being guilty by association a casino host introduced himself to me and gave me his card. I didn’t bother to tell him that I wasn’t really ‘with’ those guys. Was fun none the less. On the way back to my room still looking like I needed to get laid more then my buddy did as I was the one always approached finally acquiesced to a lovely red head whom I think I surprised by wearing her out.

    Tuesday
Got up and sent the company on her way. Went to the gym then skipped the pool. Went to get some pizza at the Luxor. Played some craps for a few hours at the Luxor, then several more hours of craps at Mandalay - really bad all day. Went at ate Steakhouse at Camelot, had the fillet – was good as usual, terrible service as usual. After dinner went and played bj for several hours (did surprisingly well) at NYNY, then a few hours of craps still at NYNY (really bad run at craps). Found some female companionship (imagine that). Then found some more, then some more (must really have needed to get laid tonight - guess the sign on my forehead was correct tonight).

    Wednesday
Woke up, enjoyed last night’s company then sent her on her way, briefly thought about the gym, decided to hit the pool instead. After watching the eye candy and sufficiently baking for an hour decided it was time for a shower and some lunch.
<Begin Poker Snobbery>Waited for my buddy while playing some silly limit poker. I didn’t mind doubling my money, but watching people try to play after they’ve only watched it on tv can be painful at times. Reading people is a skill of which it takes zero at these limit tables. Really, you are allowed to fold an ace with no kicker.<End Poker Snobbery>
Went and had lunch at Little Caesar’s at the Luxor then played craps at the Luxor, hoping to catch my newly made dice setting friend, no such luck but did play for 6 or so hours.
Went over to MGM to wait arrival of another buddy and ate at Craftsteak. Had the fillet (by now you can’t possibly be surprised by that). Fillet was very tender but always an interesting taste at Craftsteak. Fries there are spiced to excellence! Played craps which was going badly until other buddy arrived, right off the plane with suitcase under the craps table we kicked ass. More than tripled my money and the cashier instead of asking if I had any marker just took my players card. At this point he also tried to get my Soc Sec number from me. I was highly amused as he didn’t get it. He said a few more of those yellow chips and they’d be arm wrestling me for it. My buddy was tipping the waitress $25 a drink and tipping the dealers more then I was betting, so we had very good service all night/morning. Ok, maybe it’s my cologne since out of the now 3 of us I was still approached first every 10 feet for companionship. After a few hours contributing to a blonde’s college fund, decided to call up the lovely red head from last night for a few more hours of relaxation. After several hours sent her on her way and went to sleep.

    Thursday
Woke up around 11am, briefly thought of the gym, and then thought better. We went over to the Luxor for some Little Caesar pizza - of course. After lunch went and played craps at the Luxor for a while. My buddy parlayed a winning YO, parlayed that and hit it again, was very pretty. After craps at the Luxor went and played craps at Excalibur then BJ at NYNY. For dinner went to Gallagher's Steakhouse at NYNY. Had the filet (surprise), was great as usual. Also had their yummy Bruschetta again. After that, played craps until about midnight at MGM. With my buddies tipping habits we again had great service from both the CW and the dealers. Did well enough for the cashier to try to get my soc sec number again. Then a casino host introduced herself to my buddy comp’d the rest of his stay and gave me her card (not sure if I was guilty of association or not in this case as they already knew both of our names), she told me to stay at the MGM next time – we’ll see. Took a taxi over to Mandalay Bay for some night time Pai Gow poker. I was hit on by an Asian couple there, which I would have been happy to take them up on as he was very good looking and she was gorgrious, but alas there was a communication problem (whole thing caught me by surprise). After a few hours of Pai Gow went and had some female companionship, and after that had some more companion ship, then to the first one’s surprise found her again before it was time for some sleep.

    Friday
Lunch at the Burger Bar (Mandalay Place). (Ok, so the gym never entered my mind this morning as it was already late by the time I figured out how to get out of bed again.) Love the burgers there and the eye candy certainly is an added bonus. We played craps at Mandalay Bay for a few hours, did not do well and didn't like the vibe on the table we were at. Walked over to the MGM and played craps there for several hours. Our legs had finally given out after standing all day, so we sat down at a roulette table where my friend designed a system on the spot to lose money slowly (house advantage under 2%) - don't ask - the whole thing was silly, but did get us off our feet for an hour (he won $200 as any system can over a short period). We were very hungry so decided to eat early. Wend to Sea Blue, had the fillet (imagine that). For a seafood restaurant they do a great steak. They also do this great naan bread with various toppings. Had a happy hour special on shrimp cocktail too. Between the bread and the shrimp could have skipped dinner. Had what I would consider a very plain Caesar salad with the dinner.
After dinner went back to craps until midnight then I went for a few more hours of female companionship and my buddies went over to play bj at the pleasure pit at PH until 5am.

    Saturday
Got up and sat at a Pai Gow table just taking it easy and getting my hot chocolate with whipped cream. Some kids showed up, they were here from some upper Midwest college for a bowling tournament. The kid next to me engaged me in conversation for a good hour and half. These kids really were starving college kids, I remember what those days were like. When it was time to go I slipped the kid $200 dollars and told him to share it with his buddies and to do the same in 15 years. While $200 is not small change for me, it was huge for these kids. Walking away from the table I could tell how excited they were, was worth every penny!

Trip home. Taxi didn't take the tunnel again which was nice. Of course the flight was delayed as any flight going into or out of Dallas is always delayed because of weather. Luckily I managed to get a later connecting flight from Dallas to Austin, so I actually made it home on the same day. I did try to send my meal back to someone sitting in cattle class, alas the attendant wouldn’t do it – no idea why – I figure about 50% of the time I get a ‘no’.
Other then that have no recollection of my flight as I was out!

Now that I’ve rested I’m ready for my next trip!

Down about 4k with the entertainment.

Had 2 monster + 2 great runs on craps and a double, double on Pai Gow that brought me out of huge hole and put me up a nice amount on the gambling front. Probably spent too much on entertainment this time around. But ahhh, the memories :)

Still down for the year on gambling though.

You had more "entertainment" in one week at Vegas than my wife I have had in the past year....the joy of being married 20 years with 3 kids......

nice report, I wouldn't necessarily think the hosts were introducing themselves purely by association based on your play and I think your other thread in the comp section (I think), I'd definitely take them up on the offers.

That's a serious run on the entertainment side too, but for that price for the whole trip, probably not a bad bit of spending. I have to say you must have some kind of look that they pick up on, if only from the seller before checkin, as that's a spot I'm figuring most girls aren't trying it out in. From being around friends that get the same 'attention' I'm not surprised though, there is definitely something they look for.

Anyway, great report, and thanks for sharing.

Guess my face had shock on it because I fowled up the offer. I just didn't expect it from this particular couple. Young, asian, extremely well to do (He signed for 10K markers while there, and they were playing all yellow).

    Oh well...

The host I got at Luxor introduced himself, but the host at MGM seemed to really want to help me. We'll see, because next trip I'm calling her first to see what she will do for me.

The entertainment right off the plane was a great way to get rid of jet lag. I'll have to remember that from now on!

I must project the fact that I always need to get laid:wink

Actually, I do always look women in the eyes and smile (working or not), which gets different reactions depending on the person.

No one seems to ever admit these things in their TRs. Thanks for sharing. Its refreshing to read someone is enjoying more than gambling and dining on the strip. You know how to have fun in vegas.

    Tropicana

Forgot to add my 2 visits to the Trop.

I thought it was bright and airy (my buddy thought the air was still stale).
Even with that, it had a terrible vibe. The music was so loud I couldn't hear the stickman call out the numbers. Each time there were also wanna be gangsters hanging around but not gambling.
Place was pretty much empty both times (during weekdays though).
Even with the place being bright and airy, I just couldn't put my finger on what is 'wrong' with the place.
Just a bad 'vibe' I can't really explain.

I'd be interesting to hear what others think.

Great trip report. Loved the craps talk as well as the late night action.
