    My Trip Report

    Day 1

    Getting to Vegas

This is our first trip to Vegas in two years, and man were we looking forward to it. My wife had been in Portland Oregon on business since Wednesday, September 26. I flew from Cleveland and she flew from Portland. My flight took off at 9:20 a.m. and thanks to a creative Continental telephone ticket agent, I flew first class by “borrowing†some of my wife’s frequent flyer miles. Now, before some of you get too worked up, don’t worry, I will be paying for that for a long time :haha:

I’ve never flown first class, and I sure could get used to it!
The food was pretty good, cheese omelet, sausage patty, potatoes, and fruit cup, nice. I arrived in Vegas an hour before my Mrs. Coinz, so I waited at her gate. She sure was a sight for sore eyes.

The cab ride was uneventful, but the cabby took the freeway to TI and cost himself a tip. Why do they do that when you tell them specifically not to take the freeway? It increases the fare a lot. I tip well and he would have made up the difference in the tip. Knucklehead.

Checking in at TI and the $20 trick

I had never done the $20 trick, and since we were comped three nights, I upped the ante to $50. The girl checking us in said the hotel was full and discretely returned the 50 tucked under my driver license. Oh well. Got to the room, changed into shorts (I don’t like to fly in shorts). And away we were.

We were both hungry and got a pizza at the pizzeria at TI. Good thin crispy crust, good sauce. I would recommend the pizzeria at TI. I don’t remember the name; I think it was Francesco’s a couple years ago and I think it is now called Francesco’s Pizzeria, whatever, you get the point.

After we ate, we went to the Strip. We walked down the TI, Mirage side to the Monte Carlo, where we played a little slots. No big wins, but just enough to keep you playing. Crossed the street and walked back to TI. The rest of the day we just walked and Casino hopped, playing the slots.

At the end of the day, we went back to TI and played more slots. I discovered a Top Dollar machine that would not let me leave. I forgot to get the serial number for you guys, but it is in the carousel next to the quarter Wheel of Fortune machines, and is next to a Pinball machine. I did very well on that machine. Got a lot of Top Dollar offers.

Grabbed something to eat at Canter’s Deli at TI, and went to bed.

Gee, I wish I could find a Starbucks in Vegas.

Tomorrow: Straight flush and new sandals

There was a Starbucks in TI in August when I was there. It was right around the corner from the Mystere Store across from the Kahuna Bar.:poke:

    Starbucks

Sorry everyone, the Starbucks comment was sarcasm. You cant go anywhere without a Starbucks. Yes, the one is stil in TI, and Venetian, and Harrahs, and Monte Carlo, and MGM Grand, and Planet Hollywood, and ...:wink

I find their coffee much too strong, and prefer Dunkin Donuts, but when you need to wake up, it's all good.

    Yeah, what happened next??

I love strong coffee, so lots of Starbucks means I can get a "decent" cup of coffee when I need it.

Still waiting............I also am not a Starbucks fan. But nothing some cream can't fix. Too bad the $50 didn't do the trick either.
