Hooters Hotel & Casino

I am fairly new to this forum, and have found much useful information. So I wanted to give some info back concerning my wife's and my stay at Hooters in the middle June.

We found a great deal for airfare and hotel through Expedia for 5 nights. The trip was booked back in February. Reading the reviews of Hooters on various websites made me a little apprehensive about staying there. Reviews were mixed, some reporting a great time and others vowing to never set foot on the property again. I was so concerned that the wife may be disgusted by the room that I had called a couple of other hotels for availability just in case. We had played at the San Remo before but had never seen the rooms.

We always rent a car so transportation is not a problem. We went to check in on Sunday afternoon, there was a short line. Check in was quick with no problems. We were given a coupon sheet to use that included match play, free coffee and 20% off at the spa.

The room was on the 16th floor. Since it is small compared to the other mega properties on the strip, it was easy to get to the elevators and up to our room. After reading all the reviews, we were not sure what to expect when we went in. Very pleasantly surprised. It was not to be confused with a room at one of the more upscale hotels, but it was good for what we paid for it. The room was clean, with none of unpleasant stains on the carpet I had read about. The king size bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows, which made the wife happy. We had a nice view of the Tropicana/Las Vegas Blvd intersection. The only problem with the view was that it faced east, and we discovered the next morning that the sun comes up early in Vegas. After the first day we learned to completely close the curtains at bedtime.

The bath area was also clean. The water pressure in the shower was a little low, but it was enough to get the job done. The room had a secondary area with a mirror to get ready in the morning. Room service was fine as far as the cleaning and bed makeup was concerned. Only problem was they did not leave us cups one day, but a call to housekeeping remedied the issue with double the cups they would ordinarily leave.

One bonus for the property being smaller was the speed of the valet service. When we stayed at NYNY the wait would sometimes be as long as 10 minutes. Here the car was also brought out within 2 minutes.

The casino was small but they kept a fun atmosphere. They had all the table games we like to play along with some full pay video poker machines. As in most casinos, the crowd was older in the day and become younger as the night went on. We are middle aged, and never felt out of place. The table minimums were $5 during the week, but had changed to $10 by Thursday evening. The place was mostly guys, but it appears some women have figured out that it is a good place to meet guys, as there were some women in there also. Between those women and the Hooter's gals, it made for some nice scenery.

Wife used the 20% off coupon for a day at the spa while I went to some low roller locals casinos. She had a very good experience at the spa though she reported it was small. She raved about her massage therapist, which she said was one of the best she has ever had.

We did not eat much there, so there is little to report. We did get a take out dessert at The Dam Restaurant one night. The food was good, but the attitude of the folks at the register could have been better. They were very rude when we entered.

Overall it is good value. We would consider staying there again, though we will probably stay downtown on our next trip.

Honestly... Am I the only one that is blown away there is a Planet Hollywood and Hooters casinos? I guess the California Pizza Kitchen casino is being saved for Laughlin!

whats the difference between the bungalo and the tower rooms?

 

I've always liked the price to quality ratio at Hooter's. My only knock on it is that they've dumped the $5.95 Prime Rib Special. The Dam Restaurant is kind of pricy with that option removed from the menu.

 

The bungalo rooms are out by the pool area. I think it is two stories with no elevator. The tower rooms are in the main part of the hotel.

Okay, I lost a bet and for our trip March 16 -20 we're staying there. We're flying in the 15th and staying at the Hilton (I travel a lot, point = free room)...and I used to work for Resorts, so one night of old home week is more than enough.

Glad to hear it's good. We really booked it for the pool and the completely tacky experience...we're going so the other half can check out a convention and we can have Elvis renew our wedding vows of 15 years, hence, our motto for the whole trip is delightfully tacky yet unrefined. I am a bed snob, so good to hear they're comfortable and they have low tables - we usually go downtown to place dice, so rock on. Will post report upon our return!
