    My Trip Report

... and two trips to the Coachella Valley thrown in for good measure.

And please forgive all the bandwidth this exhaustive report takes up.

I stayed at SouthPoint, Wynn, MSS, Harrah's and Fantasy Springs (twice) in Indio across my two-plus weeks of travel. MSS was loud (train) and it smelled pretty stinky (8th floor). Despite the EZ comps I think we're done with it. I caught a remodeled room in Harrah's and it looked nice even if it was closet-sized.

The NBA foolstivities were eye-opening to say the least. (Bill Cosby is a savant.)

I played golf at Wynn (as previously reported), Mountain Falls, Willow Creek, Reflection Bay and TPC Canyons in/around Vegas, and the Gary Player Course at Mission Hills North, SilverRock and the Mountain Course at the Vintage Club. I like my new driver. I hate my old game.

I gambled a lot (for me) at Silverton. Love the bartop multi-play 9/6 Jacks and the 10/6 DDB that's available. The Mex place is killer.

China Spice at GVR still rocks. Don't forget to ask for the second menu before ordering.

ALWAYS ask the price of a glass of wine at Rio's wine cellar BEFORE you say, "Oooh, that sounds great."

Saw a lot of online Vegas friends, which always is nice.

Ken, if something sounds really good and there's no price always ask; otherwise, you end up paying alot more than you might have expected.

The new Orleans? Although the Coast Orleans never was known for VP.

Is it tough being you? LOL

BTW - I enjoyed the Kierland read in F&G. Are you still on the regimen? What was the financial damage of the total re-fit, less the putter of course? Was the bride impressed….:evillaugh

That must have been a fun assignment...:nworthy:

There was a time when the Orleans had plenty to play, but certainly not every play. Couple downsides to Silverton: location and size of the hotel. I just can't park my arse in one casino the day-long, so the car is essential. Of course, we always have our car in Vegas. The remodel looks nice but the rooms are still the rooms, and the freeway frontage might get to some. I like the suite-ettes, but they're hard to get. Love the look and feel of the casino, great food choices, lotsa FP VP.

Thanks. I was actually happy with the article when I got a look at it yesterday.

Sold two drivers which covered the new Bridgestone driver and 3w. Still might re-sell the latter to a friend, however. Bought last year's Nickent hybrids on close-out pricing so the expense really was having 'em reshafted. Still playing the PING irons though I'm sending them back to the factory to have the lie angle flattened out a tad. Same old TM putter I pulled out of a used club bin a couple years ago.

Little tough to work the whole program while bouncing around on the road for two weeks but we're still staying the course.

I'm a fan of Silverton casino too, since I found 9/6 JOB at the tequila bartop.

I forgot all about the meet Ken! It just slipped past my mind. Hope I can have a rain check for another time.

And those FP babies are multi-line, too!! I also liked the progessive Jacks in the sports "book" bar. You live on that side of town?

No worries. I had two wines. Was polluted. I'm a shadow of my former drinking self. lol

Taking mom up for her b'day next month so will let you know if I organize a little get together.

Forgot to add that our round at Reflection Bay took place in perhaps the strongest sustained wind I've ever experienced in Vegas, and I've played a load of rounds up there. For those who know the course, 8 required a freakin' 2-iron yet I almost drove 11, used a wedge on 17 and reached 18 with a 4-hybrid.

Only if you consider "that side of town" to be the south side. I'm in the southeast quadrant, in Henderson. Nevertheless, I like Silverton better than any of the locals casinos near my house.

The ones I saw were not multi-line. Just one game, one line, regular old... 9/6 JOB. At a bar. That serves tequilas. Kind of a casual Isla. That's good enough for me!

Caveat: Ask for the "Cadillac Margarita"... it's the best they can comp but it is one damn fine adult beverage!

One of the oldest rules in VP play is don't think one machine is every machine. There's a wide range of games/denoms/payout structures all across that bar.

True enough Ken. There are a handful at that same bar (further in, around the "curve") that don't even have vp on them. Just some crazy slot game.

And the funny part of it is that I wasn't even drinking.

I was at Silverton yesterday and it appears they have removed the funny slots game from the bartop and replaced it with 3 and 5 play vp. The JOB is still 9/6 even at the quarter level!!

Oh, and for the record they make a nice mango-ey frozen marg too.
