Not my normal Vegas trip, but I think I will be there on a Friday night with my son. I'm not really worried about appropriateness, but I know that some shows have age limits. Any suggestions of things to see? We are at South Point but I don't mind taking an Uber to the Strip.

A 17 y.o. boy? Get him a fake ID and take him to the Rhino. If that isn't in the cards, he might like a comedy/magic show like Mac King at Harrah's during the day or the original Cirque du Soleil (Mystere) at Treasure Island.

I took my daughter and a couple other girls from our soccer team to Mystere when they were 16 and they LOVED it... so did I.

I agree....I mean with regards to Mac King and Cirque du Soleil. I can also highly recommend Chris Angel's show at Luxor - this might be the perfect show for a 17 years old boy.

I've seen Ka, Love, Zumanity, and Zarkana, I liked them all but Zarkana (although I was hung over, tired and mad about something unrelated when I walked into the show, so maybe it is better than I gave it credit for). Haven't seen Mystere or O. I'm thinking probably Ka would be better than Love (Zumanity obviously out). Among the Cirque shows is Mystere best for a fairly mature but not really artistic 17 year old?

I think it would be pretty awkward for both of us at the Rhino if we went together. Although if I could get him a fake I probably would, just because it is such a PITA to go so many places with him, especially in Vegas. And oddly, Fargo, North Dakota. Downtown Fargo is worse than Vegas, half of the restaurants downtown he can't go into for a hamburger because they serve alcohol.

Penn and Teller was my first thought, but dark Friday. So is Ka and Mystere. So my first 3 choices probably out.

My wife and I really enjoyed Terry Fator. We saw his Christmas special and not his regular show. I am not sure if it would appeal to a 17 year old but I expected nothing and plan to go back and see his regular show I liked it so much.

Better yet, make his fake ID say Nick Papageorgio from Yuma. Maybe the bouncers that catch it will let him in anyway!

Dang, I was going to suggest Ka or Mystere!

Blue Man Group is a great suggestion.

17 year old has possibly never seen any kind of stage show. So, just about anything. You can easily do a couple of the cheaper shows for what the big shows cost.

Terry Fator - we enjoyed show. Have seen there and in on the road. Not sure if a 17 yr old might think it was lame though.

Well that's quite an assumption. I saw my first stage show around 6 (Godspell, community theater). Saw my first Broadway shows at 8 (Evita & Annie).

I personally would recommend based on likes/dislikes, never on age. That goes for everyone ;-) Clearly, I'm a Broadway baby so would see any "big musical". I also personally dislike CDS shows as well as magic. I enjoy comedy, but it's true that some performers in Vegas might not be appropriate for a 17 yr old (I was away at college at age 17, my parents let me listen to & read "inappropriate" material from a young age, so, you know....know your audience!) And some shows do have age limits. I believe Carrot Top is 16+, but ages 16-17 have to attend with an adult?
