Question re promotional chips from Harrahs... are they play until you lose or one time use?

We play slots/VP and were always able to get vouchers for slots instead of the chips. We also could get the vouchers for any denomination so we get $20 vouchers and play our way around the casino. We'll be there in two weeks.

Slot vouchers have an expiration date. Chips can be accumulated. I will have about $1600 worth on my next trip. OP is primarily a table player. I am primarily a slot player but chose to accumulate promo ships.

We only get there twice a year so slot vouchers work best for us and we don't play table games so, for us, it's a no-brainer.

Isn't slot free play a much better deal than promotional chips?

It depends. There are a lot of table games players that HATE slots. It all depends on how you want to do it. I have saved up about $1200 in Tahoe chips and $500 in Reno chips.

The WInter promotion at Harrahs Tahoe (for me) is $480 in promo chips/free play. I had originally planned to save them for 2017 play, but I may have to use them when I meet with Rycelover in November.

I plan to play $50-$100 a hand Blackjack and see what I end up with, then cash in and go to the slots.

I have it in my calendar. I will see my host at dinner next Thursday (10/13). I will verify

1)Promo chips are "play until you lose"
2)That I can get a room in Reno (may have to appease my Reno host) or Tahoe that weekend.

So if you have a $100 promo chip, if you win at BJ you turn it into a $100 real chip or $200 in real chips?

If it's play until you lose, they pay you $100 in real chips and you keep the $100 promo chip.

If it's a "one time" chip, they take it and give you $200 in real chips.

Ok that makes sense. I've seen some casinos merely replace your promotional chip with one $100 chip if you win. That would be terrible.

Promo chips are usually worth 50% of face value...slot play is worth about 90% of face value (because it can be "sucked out" on video poker and voila, free cash)

I've literally NEVER seen this happen, unless the dealer is making a HUGE mistake.
Play till you lose = Original chip stays in play just like regular money
One-time use = Paid on a winner, and they collect the free chips (i.e.: $100 bet BJ, you get paid $150 and they take the $100 promo chip)

Thanks Tim. That was my point. Slot/vp play is worth a lot more than promotional chips. But I guess it depends on how he casino pays you off at the tables when using the chips.

I had $150 in promo chips at PH. I had six $25 promo chips. Each $25 bet at BJ the promo chip was taken regardless of outcome. Think I walked with $75 in live chips. This was about five years ago.
