hi guys... So I'm sure you might have experienced it if not maybe one day you will when you are playing game.... It happened to me not too long ago in local casino, a casino "friend" whom I see regular basis (no interaction outside) he asked that question even tho he knows I don't lend nor borrow money ever!!! He said he was down and wanted borrow 2k from me!!! When I said I don't have it...then he continue on asking me to take out a marker for him, unreal!!! Of course I said no... I do not ever lend money to people (past experience)

Anyway I'm sure some of you may have borrowed or lend out.... What's your take on this "asking for money so they can continue gamble???

Lend money to a gambler who is down and broke? Hell no!!

I might lend him $20 to get something to eat while he phones some other vague acquaintances to ask for money..........

Met a woman often at a few Tunica casinos. Somehow she had access to many lounges. She called one day and NEEDED a room for the night and would we give her one of our comp rooms. Luckily, my usually too nice wife said no.

I have lent money a handful of times in a casino, but ONLY to people I knew outside of the casino. I always got paid back promptly.

Kinda sorta...people I met AT the casino, but we've hung out, outside of the casino...we've lent up to $1000 back and forth, when you're "stuck"

Only to my bride when she's down on slots. I guess it's not lending then. Sharing!? It was in our vows. "For better or for worse, for Richard or for Pryor."
    Thank goodness she's not a high-roller--yet.

    LOL!

Even if I had a big "win", I would never consider "loaning" anyone money...depending how well I know the person I might "gift" them a bit but that's what it would be, just giving it to them.

I have occasionally lent people (relatives, close friends, extended family, co-workers) some cash $$$$$ so they did not have to pay the confiscatory ATM fee in the casino. I've always been paid back. I would not do this for someone I only knew casually.

I dont loan gambling money. If you are too stupid to have squandered away your money then thats too bad for you. If you showed up at a casino without any money then you are even stupider.

I will however buy drinks if someone has low on dough but I wont lay out cash for them to buy them.

I have done the same thing.
On a weekend trip with friends who hit a bad run at the tables while we were in Vegas or AC for the weekend.
Always paid back within a few days of returning home.

    A casual ,casino only acquaintance.......NO.

had a guy sit down at a slot beside me at...Mirage, maybe, and ask if he could have $100.
    I just ignored him.

then he asked me again. I told him to "go fuck himself"
he then proceeded to go and ask other people.

I'd lend a friend some dough to get a meal or a cab to the airport, if needed, but that's about it. My number one rule about gambling is to not gamble with money I can't comfortably afford to lose and there is no way in hell I would enable someone to do the same to themselves.

I have given people down on their luck $20 for gambling or food or whatever their need maybe. if they ask me nicely their is a good chance they will get it. If they are rude they will get nothing. Broke people can get pretty desperate. I wouldn't want them to hurt somebody or do something stupid and get arrested and maybe even hurt someone in the process. I'm willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt. In the early 80's when I was just learning to gamble I was playing craps, I was on a good roll and everyone made good money but me. I didn't know shit about placing Odds but when I crapped out an Asian gentleman gave me $300 for the roll that I had going. That was more money than I had left in my pocket. I knew that one day I was gonna do the same or similar for someone. In 92 or 93 I saw a guy lose his money on Craps and he looked pretty sad, not a good feeling for sure. I had a winning football ticket that paid back about $330 and I gave it to him after talking to him for a few minutes. I hope I made his day. Even when I have a bad day gambling, I have many things to feel Blessed about. As long as they are not rude I give them the benefit of a doubt. I have found money many times on the floor in Casinos. one time I found $1100 and no one came to claim it while I was there for about 30 minutes. Last month I found a wallet with over $200 plus a paroll check with an I'D inside and I was happy to reunite the wallet with its owner. I Love Happy endings. I see homeless people sitting at the Lanai Cafe at the Fremont and always give them a Five without them asking. I just can't sit down and eat and think that they may be hungry.

In our family, at least, everyone has always settled up. We're fortunate that in our immediate family we don't have any of the too-common un/underemployed chronically mooching types.

I lend money to people actually in my trip group... but there is an understanding that this is a short-term loan...as in - it is to be paid back right after midnight when they can once again access funds with their ATM.
Basic test: If they've never been in my home & shared a meal with me there (or in their home), they will never get money from me... however, like mike points out, I have paid for cab-rides to the airport in the past.

Over the years I have been approached by numerous moochers at the dice or BJ table.

Type 1.The Straight Up Grubber.................. Walks up and asks straight up for a few chips either red or green.
Usually eye contact or a nod to the box person or pit boss sends this guy on his way.

Type 2."The Sneak" Squeezes in next to you at the table but does not buy in.
Starts suggesting what to do."Hey you should play the 5" or "Hard 8 is overdue"!!
One of these hits and he starts asking for "a little help because he gave you a winner".

Type 3."The False Cheerleader"............Cheers and congratulates you on nice hits.Always waiting for $$$ help.
