Yes drinks are comped as long as you are gambling. Casino is pretty nice but the slots are tight. It's maybe 4-5 blocks from Bourbon St. We always have a great time there.

The drinks are free if they are well or they are on tap, otherwise there is a charge, but you can order from your machine, which is super cool. The casino is bright and cheerful and smoke free, which is a plus for me. You are steps away from the waterfront and shopping and all the action in New Orleans. You cannot go wrong.

I was sent a offer for 3 free nights before September 30th. I am Platinum. How about restaurants and Video Poker?

Very very tight slots!!!! One of the tightest I've ever been too. But regardless I had fun the few times we did go there. Great location and I love New Orleans!!

Thanks for info. We had Vegas planned, but I was in NO about 2007 For a Convention in July and it was hot. If we go it will be end of August. Also air to Vegas very high, to NO cheap.

Overall, I recommend Harrah's New Orleans, but you do have to to take the bad with the good. There are several pros and cons:

    PROS
    - As mentioned earlier, the casino is non-smoking. This may be a con for some people, but a huge pro for me.
    - Unlike other places like Tunica or Biloxi where all there is to do is gamble, there is a treasure trove of fun distractions and excellent food options in walking distance.
    - My favorite two bartenders in any casino work at the HooDoo Bar in New Orleans. Bobby Ray will be the one slinging bottle caps all over the bar and you can't miss Wendy's big hair and Scottish accent!
    - While pretty much all CET properties force Pepsi on you, there's a Fuddruckers on the property that still offers Coke.

    CONS
    - The casino has a zero tolerance policy against players who mess their hand up on Pai Gow. If you mistakenly place your low hand as your high hand, you lose your bet no matter what the dealer has. Unfortunately, the casino does not offer the House Way option as a safeguard against misplacing your cards.
    - Diamond and Seven Stars players do not get unlimited comped drinks. Your card is swiped each time you get a drink and I think Diamond players are limited to four per day, Seven Stars get eight. (Someone may want to check behind me on that.) However, D/SS players do receive top shelf cocktails while playing.
    - This one's obvious, but the heat and humidity is a bitch in the summer. It's similar to the heat in Vegas except that instead of feeling like you're being baked, in New Orleans, you're steamed.

When I was there in early April all of my drinks were comped, as were the drinks of everyone I was playing with. We were all playing greens so we weren't getting free ones from being big bettors or anything. This was on a Saturday night in the room that has the escalators to the nightclub upstairs. To me the casino had a Vegas-like feel and energy to it, which was great.

I've only been to NOLA twice so I'm hardly an expert but what I'll say is- eat all the food you possibly can, drink the drinks, and enjoy the people.

Hurricane is an option on the drink order system. However, I'm diamond so I can't swear its there for everyone.

I believe that the drink limit you refer to only applies to the diamond lounge not when you are playing at a machine or table.

I would have thought that as well until I saw a Diamond player present his card at the VP bar and ask for a drink. Since he wasn't playing, he was asked for his card and instructed that he has x amount of drinks left for that day. First time I had ever seen that anywhere.

going to fix a few things here...its Billy Ray not Bobby and he works at pirates bar, its in front of hoodoo lounge

besides fudruckers, they brought the lucky dog back after a short absence and that is by the poker bar, they have coke products in a bottle, airport prices but better than pepsi, Im local so I just bring my own coke when I go

and for the drinks yes, it went from unlimited for diamond and 7* on top shelf drinks to limits they started last year or so...this pertains to lounges and bars if you are not playing, Diamond 4 drinks 2 food plates, 7 star 8 drinks 4 food plates...that being said, depending on how you treat the bartender, they dont always swipe the card, sometimes the system goes down so they cant swipe it ect...they hardly ever swipe my card...

diamond/7* can get free drinks from signature bar, palm room lounge, pirates bar, hoodoo lounge, poker room, any pop up satelitte bar and masquerade...most of the time if you have a 7* card, they just hold it up to show the camera and give it back to ya...some will swipe so you do have to factor in potential limits though

drinks are comped if you are playing any machines or tables, its weird b/c they wont comp you certain higher end drinks at the tables unless your d/7*....

So I'm kinda hearing different things. If I'm playing at the Bar my drinks are comped? I am Platinum. If you aren't playing and Diamond they are comped. This is important to me. Lol

Good info. I am headed here also in September. Does anyone know the high limit blackjack rules (DD or shoe? H17 or S17? Surrender?)

One of the posters above said two different things in the post. No idea why.

If you are playing at ANY level, you get free drinks. Table, machines, bartops, etc. But you must be actually playing.

If you sit at a bar and are NOT playing, but Diamond, you may be able to get free drinks - depending on how many you have already had for the day.

still a lil tired from last night, drank quite a bit, might have confused you a bit...ill break it down for you with platinum at harrahs new orleans

slot machine, you select off of the touch screen on the machine, you cant really do anything custom here and get only what is offered on the machine, like most places, well drinks, beer is beer

tables non high limit section, order from the server as she passes, pretty much all well unless you order something like Hennessy which doesnt have a well option, you cannot get a redbull from the server without paying for it, unless your diamond or 7*, they will do this if you ask for some top shelf, as stated, your pretty much getting well, beer is beer, this is why i dont order drinks unless its from the bar and I see what I get

any of the bars I mentioned above, platinum has to pay for the drink or take it off of your points

table top VP, not playing, you pay for your drinks - if playing you will get most beer, lower end alcohol. you may get sky vodka but not titos or goose, you might get jack daniels but not single barrel jack daniels, jose instead of patron ect

high limit tables, you will be playing $25 minimum depending on the night could be $100 minimum and you can pretty much order whatever is in the diamond lounge

when you get to diamond card, it all changes, sorry for any confusion...let me know if I can help with anything else

It sounds like you have already received the definitive guidance. If you have never been this sounds like a great offer to check out the Big Easy.

I was in NOLA last month and can confirm that Harrah's is now non-smoking (YES!!!!). It is only a few blocks from Bourbon street right on the edge of the French Quarter.

It will be f#@&ing hot in August and September. Very sticky. If you are traveling in September you may want to check the schedule to see if the Saints are in town.
