I'll be over when these tournaments are on (AKA "the fitba") and wondered if I can bet on first scorer, correct score, etc, or is it just the match outcome? I've always found the options a bit limited during previous tournaments.

I'll be putting a few bets on before we leave but won't be able to do that for the matches in the latter stages. Do the likes of William Hill have these options in their sports books?

The options were fairly limited for the World Cup. The only ones I remember were outcome of the match (win/lose/draw), which team would advance or overall tournament winner.

EPL and CL options are usually just outcome of the match and tournament/league champ.

So, I wouldn't expect to have all the options you'll find in the UK.

That said, I never went to a William Hill book. They might have more options than the casino-run books. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Am I right in thinking that I won't be able to log into my UK account with BET365 using a US IP address?

I could place bets before we leave here but the timing isn't good as the last round of group games will still have to be played, so the last 16 knockout games won't be known yet.

Any thoughts/predictions/tips? I feel like the Group F teams - specifically Iceland and Portugal - can make deep runs into the knockout stage.

Following on from Denmark in '94 and Greece in '04 I guess we're just about due an outsider to win it, however it's really difficult to see past Germany, Italy, Spain and France. But they're all going to have to improve on recent form to beat a well organised team that's playing for each other (the international equivalent of Leicester City!!). If they come up against a team like that they'll have to up their game from where it's been recently.

I can't see the any of the teams in the next level troubling the engraver so that's Belgium, Portugal and England oot the windae.

Best outsider for me is Poland and they're 50/1 on Bet365. But I'd still expect at least 3 of the big 4 to make the semi finals and one of them to win it.

I've tried this with the exact same bookie and it wouldn't even let me open the site on my iPhone. It said like "this site is not available in your country" or something like that. This was a year ago so I don't know if it has changed since then. If you've got a VPN, that'll sort things out for you.

I e-mailed them and they confirmed that I couldn't. I'll probably see if I can get a friend to log on for me and place bets.

There are a couple of interesting competitions over here running alongside the tournament.

    Bet Victor's £1m Goal.....

That one's tricky but not impossible. At least you get to submit your guess once you know who's in the final.

    Leave Campaign's £50m prize......

There's no way anyone's winning that as you'd also have to correctly predict the fixtures from the last 16 onwards. Someone will have the £50k prize though.

Well that's interesting. If you leave the keepers out there's 26 different players on the field counting the 3 substitutions from both teams. Game lasts 90 minutes so 26 x 90 x £5 = £11,700. So for a mere £11,7k you could cover every single possible combination on this, assuming the goal won't be scored on extra time. I'd be shocked if no one did this. It'll be profit if there aren't over 85 winners.

Another good outside bet is Marcus Rashford for tournament top sorer at 80/1. He may not get a lot of game time at first but he's got the knack of being in the right place at the right time and at 18 he's just enjoying playing.

I'll probably chuck a couple of quid on him.

I'll bet you a beer that he won't score a goal in the whole tourney. Joke of a pick from Roy. Glad he's 4 games away from being sacked.

I was tempted to say 3 but opted for the absolute maximum. :)

I can't see Italy getting past the quarters at best, Belgium have far too deep of a squad to not win that group. When you combine a team of Courtois, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dembele, Witsel, Carrasco, Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku amongst others, that team is far too talented for Italy. I still think France will win it but Belgium are a team that too many people are sleeping on.

Nah. I'll go with the 80/1 on offer and I've stuck 2 quid on it.

I still think (or is that hope) that he'll be home before me though

Should have had Rashford on there!!

That was a very timely equaliser. I have a 3 match accumulator with both teams to score and that was the first one.

Hodgson really has lost the plot completely. How Sterling and Lallana gets to start and Vardy sits on the bench for the whole game is beyond me. An icing on the cake really is that Kane takes all the corners when he of all people should be on the other end. I can't see this ending well for England... again.

Good start to your bet though. :)

England were fantastic for all of about 80 minutes against Russia. First half particularly, the pressing was relentless and we looked dangerous. Sterling was abysmal and wasted a ton of decent chances though. If you ask me, 4-3-3 with Vardy instead of Sterling would be fine, but people will still complain about Vardy being played out of position.

The main thing Roy got wrong in that game was bringing Wilshere on for Rooney. Milner for Rooney and Vardy for Sterling would have made more sense in the situation, both hard working players and Vardy has a turn of pace to stretch the opposition.

Thursday could go either way as Wales will have a real go.

Meanwhile, today's games all look tasty and I'm looking for both teams to score in the second and third games for my bet to come in.

And Brazil are out of Copa America!!
