    My Trip Report

*Mods: If you need to move this until Friday 6/10, that's fine, just please move it back*
SO, because of a series of FORTUNATE events, this trip can go off without a hitch! (Read: Was on the brink of a layoff and got saved; Wife got a $500 summer bonus check; I possibly am going to work for a BOOMING startup making more money)
This trip is for my wife...both because it's her 30th birthday (on June 19th, but because of EDC it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a room) and because on our Christmas Trip, she was DEAD sick. (So this is a "make-up" trip)

-We're booked in a Hollywood Hip Strip-view room at Planet Hollwood, Saturday - Monday...however because we found out about the Riviera Implosion on Tuesday morning, we decided to DOUBLE book for Sunday - Tuesday at Main Street Station. (Also because of the VMB Get-Together on Sunday, so we can get really shtifaced and only have to go upstairs to our room, haha)

-We're renting a car from Avis [Friday-Tuesday for $100] on Friday, and driving down (The plan is to pick the car up at 6pm Friday, come back home and sleep until 12am, and drive down; so we land in Vegas at 7am Saturday morning).

-Here is what we'd like to get accomplished (LoL, I say LIKE because you know how Vegas is, the best laid plans, and all that) Also, we've implemented a rule for this trip:
ONLY GAMBLE AT PLACES WE NEVER HAVE BEFORE
ONLY EAT AT RESTAURANTS WE NEVER HAVE BEFORE
    Saturday:
    • Food at Mad Greek in Baker (on drive down)
    • Gamble $100 double-or-*&$%-nothing, on $ 10/6 DDB (or 9/6 if 10/6 isn't available) at:
    • Gold Strike, Fiesta Henderson, Skyline, Boulder Station, Aliante, Santa Fe Station, Palace Station
    • "Famous" $1.49 Shrimp Cocktail at Skyline
    • Bowl 2 free games at Sante Fe Station (LOL)
    • Lunch at El Burro Borracho (Rio)
    • Ride the RollerCoasterS at CircusCircus
    • Visit Counts Customs (If we have time)
    • Check-In at Planet Hollywood
    • Have a rest and soak
    • Visit Bellagio Conservatory
    • Ride RollerCoaster at NyNy
    • Dinner at Tender (Luxor) via $75 MyVegas FoodCredit
    • BlueManGroup (Luxor) at 9:30pm
    Sunday:
    • Breakfast at Peppermill (Still kinda undecided on that)
    • Visit Pinball Hall of Fame
    • Visit Frank's Tiki Room
    • Lunch at Rolling Smoke BBQ
    • Visit Fremont Street East
    • Dinner at Container Park
    • VMB Get-Together at 7pm
    • Get shit-faced at FSE
    Monday:
    • Visit Hoover Dam (take the most expensive tour)
    • Visit Boulder City
    • Rivera Implosion (LAATE night)
SO follow along won't you..I'll be adding a ton of pictures as we go.

That's one heck of a to-do list. I'll be following. The TIki Room looks interesting, hadn't heard of it.

Hope you have better luck than my wife and I are having trying to get there today. We were supposed to leave Appleton, WI at 7:00 a.m. this morning and connect in Minneapolis, arriving in Vegas at 10:40. Well, we got in the air (early even), but halfway to Minneapolis, the pilot informed us we had to turn back due to a mechanical problem. So...we could no longer make our initial connection and will now she's an extra 6 hours getting there. Still stuck in Appleton and our original MSP-LAS flight is on it's way without us.

I'll be watching your report. If we ever get there, perhaps our paths will cross.

Good luck on your trip!! That to do list looks very ambitious. I always get sidetracked.

Why are you undecided about breakfast at Peppermill? I think it's a must, but I usually do mine with plenty of alcohol at 4am. :wink2:

Good luck, drive safe and hope you get to do everything on your list. The only thing missing from the list is a big win. Make it happen!!

Always love your trip reports I'm looking forward to this.

Are you talking about Frankies Tiki room on Charleston? We went there about a year ago with my great Nephew a local. Small place, eclectic and good fruity drinks.

    Have fun!

I highly recommend the Fink Bomb at Frankies. Make sure you take a taxi or uber there and back to your hotel .....yes, the drinks are very strong!

My wife is going to get a Bearded Clam, and I'm going to get the Slot machine one...lol
Grr, been setting up SCCM 2012 R1 all day, and creating a new image/ts with MDT/UDI...my eyes are melting!
Now they tell us we have to "beautify" a server closet TOMORROW...

We have been to Counts multiple times, it is well worth the trip. Last time we went twice, and there different cars there a couple days apart.

This is stuck in my head. No way I could sleep for six hours in the evening knowing I'm about to head out. (Maybe if I had a couple or more drinks?)

Good luck Mr and Mrs Speed, looking forward to pics.

it'll be definitely hard..but I've got wrap up this SCCM config by EOD tommorow, so I'm SURE I'll be wiped out..plus commute for 2.5 hours to get home..so by 6pm, I'll be tired enough.
It's definitely hard to concentrate on this SCCM project, as Vegas is fast approaching

Not sure if you've been to the Pinball Hall of Fame before (or lately), but just a heads up, the game conditions have been going downhill as of late. The last couple of reports on pinside.com weren't that great. If you're looking for rare games, you'll be ok, but if you're looking for newer games (or even 90's titles), they are in rough condition it sounds like.

Not trying to be a downer, but figured I'd give you the heads up. Since you have a car and there's no admission fee, it's probably not too big of a deal I guess.

If you're looking for some newer playable games, I guess the NYNY has an arcade with a great line-up of Sterns; top-notch condition.

    Good luck and have fun!

    Chris
