As the title suggests, where would you stay for a week on the strip with a hotel budget (including resort fees) up to $2000? Or would you go cheapo on the hotel and thus more $ to gamble? As far as time spent in room, would probably be 6 -8 hrs a night.

    Home?

Just kidding. :) If that $2000 budget includes hotel + gambling/food/entertainment etc, I would definitely look at the cheaper options for hotel to have more money available for the trip itself. Not gonna be much fun if you get to stay at Wynn but have to eat at McDonalds every day. Have you got any comps lined up for you? That would help narrow it down a bit.

OP specified it is the "hotel budget", so I assume food/gambling/etc is on top of that. It sounded to me like the $2k is for hotel and resort fees only.

If you could find a $40 room, you have way more money to gamble.

It is really hard to say what works for you. Some people would be happy in Motel6 for a week. Some would be insulted and depressed if they stayed at anything less than the Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons. It all depends on what works for you.

Since your thing says you have been there 10 times before, what sort of place works for you?

Don't forget, the very same room in some hotels on the strip can run from $59 a night to close to a $1,000 a night, all in the same month. That in itself can totally change the answer.

I always cheap out on the room so i have more money for gambling, nice dinners, and all that stuff. I barely spend any time in my actual room so no need for me to get anything special. To me location (center strip) is the most important for me.

In that case there's a load of options but like nostresshere said, depends a lot on what the OP likes. Also a massive factor in this is when the trip is taking place.

For me, I like a good middle hotel. NYNY, Monte Carlo, Linq, for "cheaper" trips - Mirage, Paris, PH, MGM, Mandalay Bay for others. But I've never been a room person. But I'm guessing if you really had $2k to spend on hotel, you could do much better than those places.

My vegas budget for my birthday trip in July basically got doubled... Was planning to go cheap on the hotel. But now I can go for more comfort and such if I want. Middle of strip or close to it would be good for what I want. Plan on hoping casinos and playing a lot of poker with some craps thrown in. Not much of a slots person.

If I was going with my wife, I'd look for a deal at Caesars Palace and - assuming I found one that makes it work with a $2,000 budget - stay in the Octavius Tower. We stayed there for close to two weeks on our long wedding/honeymoon trip and we both loved it. I imagine a good deal could get you a week there for $2,000.

If I was going by myself or with a friend, I'd go cheaper and gamble with the extra money I saved. The right deal can still get you a decent room for well under $1,000 for a week with no free comp nights, so that extra $1,000+ could be up to a couple hundred bucks extra per day. That's a lot of extra video poker (or anything if you're doing well...).

We like Vdara. Centrally located with an easy walk to Cosmo, Aria and Bellagio; PH and Paris are just across the street. Rooms are less expensive than--but comparable quality to--Aria/Cosmo/Bellagio. It is non-smoking, doesn't have a casino and food options are limited. However, once again, it is close to lots of food/gaming options.

If I had $2000+ set aside for any room in wanted, I'd figure out a way to stretch those dollars and stay in a wraparound terrace at Cosmo the while time

You'll roughly pay $250 for resort fees, so you have left $250/night for the room+tax. I'd say, if you don't have any discounted room offers, go with Aria. Your average nightly rate will probably be around $150+tax and you'll still end up saving some for gambling budget.

Or, you can eliminate some of the weekend price hike by spending weekend portion in downtown (maybe even go for a suite there) and then the remaining five nights at Wynn, MO etc.

But I think it's really hard for someone with 10 trips under their belt, not to have any offers. I'm a low roller and I usually get Aria offers between $50-$100, and Mirage below $50.

If I was there that long, I'd spend the weekend (you said a week, so I'm assuming you'll be there over a weekend) at a cheaper property, and then the other half at a kick butt property, wraparound terrace at the Cosmo, or something like that.

You really have 2 choices, a standard room at a top level resort, or a suite at a mid-or-low level resort.

If you want the baller-est room at your budget a Mirage or even a Palms suite is probably your best bet.

With a decent internet deal you can probably get a Terrace Studio or maybe even a Terrace One Bedroom at the Cosmo in your budget, and you will NOT be disappointed. If you can get a fountains view they're some of the best rooms in town.

Aria/Vdara's not a bad choice either, but the view (if that's your thing) won't beat Cosmo.

My budget is greater than $2K and I do stay for a week, but certainly not on the Strip. Much better value elsewhere!

Wow, that's new for me. Out of curiosity which hotels do you manage to spend over $300 a night outside the strip? Must be some pretty baller rooms somewhere in downtown that I'm not aware of.

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate! :) What I meant is, regardless of my budget, I'm not about to spend it on rooms, especially on the Strip. In fact, I often don't have to go into my stash past the first buy-in and have never lost more than a third of the money I bring with me! I can't even remember the last time I paid anything for a room.
