Monte Carlo advice needed

i have a dilemma. Going for a bachelor party in mid July. My friend is pushing Monte Carlo while I normally stay at treasure island and Venetian. I like treasure islands casual fun atmosphere. We are mid thirties and the pool at treasure island I find good as well, can anybody give me some info on whether or not Monte Carlo would be good for us?

Depends on what all is important to you. Rooms are average. They are clean and have all you'll need. I find Future comps better at MC as it's an MGM property. Pool area very good and I think better than TI. For mid 30's guys MC, is fine and close to other properties. Hey...you're going to Las Vegas so have a blast!!

 

Monte Carlo will be fine. Pool doesn't get a lot of sun, but it's decent. The Pub is fun and the casino can be if there's a decent crowd. It's not as loud as TI but it's not quiet in the evenings. I consider Aria's casino as practically at the Monte Carlo if you prefer that one.

 

I thought Monte Carlo was more of a family atmosphere when we stayed there.. lots of younger kids at the pool. Standard rooms were underwhelming to me personally.. May not be what you are looking for for a bachelor party?

 

IWCE convention back in March, the Company chose Monte Carlo over previous year's Cosmo stay. Canada/US company group convention. Had many disappointed people after having stayed the previous year at Cosmo. I agree with another poster,,,sun doesn't hit Monte Carlo pool till later in the day, like 2pm..but the wave pool is okay (best wave pool MBay)..Although I've never stayed at Venetian..I'd book your regulars over MCarlo. If you just wanting a cheap (the food court is great)..place to be..Monte Carlo can be. (I'd go with your regulars)

 

Picking between TI or Monte Carlo would be pretty easy for me. I'd go w/ the Monte Carlo.

Better pool, better restaurants, easy access to Aria & NYNY, better poker room, a lot of good bars, better gambling

I really like Yusho and The Pub.

 

Have done Monte Carlo in the past and it is fine.

I actually did my bachelor party dinner at Brand Steakhouse which was very solid.

 

well, thanks for those replies...kind of a mixed bag. I didn't know that about the sun not hitting the pool until later. That sucks. Also, I had heard there are more families there....hmmmm....decisions, decisions...first world problems I guess.

 

I'd agree with those who describe Monte Carlo as "fine". Everything about the property is pretty average (although I find the casino to be overly smoky and have a weird vibe, and I've encountered some really, really bad service at the Pub), but it makes up for it with location. Especially if you're there for a bachelor party and plan to do nights out, you're close to MGM Grand for Hakkasan, Cosmopolitan for Marquee, and Aria for Jewel (which I've been hearing great things about), plus plenty of dining options in the vicinity. Pool is physically very nice but, as mentioned, it doesn't get a ton of sun.

 

It's a bachelor party - roll with what the group decides. Don't lose sleep over this - just go have fun.

 

I'm in a similar situation, I typically stay at Cosmo, but rolling with the boys this trip and they're wanting to go on a budget....we will be testing out Monte Carlo....looking at it as a place to sleep and shower, hang at the pool.....looks perfect for a boys trip....wouldn't stay there with the wife.

 

Any idea on pool drink prices? That is the one thing I am hoping is better than Cosmo....paying $20 per drink is a little much.

 

I was at the MC about 2 weeks ago and will say the sun stats hitting the pool before 10 am... You just have to pick the right spot as far away from the hotel as you can. MC does seem to have a family/Older crowd but I like it and stay there often. Being It's attached to the Aria it's almost like it's one hotel. I definitely recommend it over TI.

 

It's not much better. Haven't stayed there within the last year but drinks were $12 (small)-$20 (large) and buckets of beer were around $40 before tip.

 

Oh well...going to be pricey I guess.

 

I've stayed at MC many times, and the pool area is fine, with the lazy river and wave pool. The rooms are basic as others have said, but with a bach party you should be there only 3 hours a night. There is a decent number of families, but that's difficult to avoid these days. Did you consider Mirage or MGM? Both have superior pool areas, and pricing is likely to be just a few spots over MC. MGM also has the clubs if that's your thing. TI has always seemed too far north to me (I've stayed at Wynn, but then there's not much reason to leave the Wynn)

 

As far as the sun/pool goes, remember it will be July. HOT. The next 7 days in Vegas the high temp will be 106, 108, 109, 109, 104, 108, 108. So lots of shade at the pool may be a benefit

 

Small correction about some of the comments regarding the Monte Carlo pool. They actually have 3 pools: a wave pool, a lazy river and "just a pool". The wave pool and lazy river are in the sun almost the entire day. Only the first pool you see when you enter the pool area is in the shade for the most part of the day. The rooms at the MC are dated but clean and the furniture is in one piece. The Venetian is a few steps up from the MC. If I had to choose between Monte Carlo and TI, I would go for MC without a doubt!

 

You can't beat the location of Monte Carlo for a bachelor party. There's decent to top notch clubs and day clubs next door at Aria and Cosmo and across the street at MGM. I actually like the vibe in the casino there. There's people out, but it isn't too crazy. If you want a more lively casino go next door to Cosmo. I like the casino at NYNY as well. There's plenty of cool bars around there too if you're more into the bar scene than the club scene. You're right at the new park that they built in between NYNY and Monte Carlo. There's nicer places, but I think you could do a lot worse than Monte Carlo. It isn't like you spend much time in the room on a bachelor party anyway.
