Does anyone check their friends into comp rooms? I'm staying at the cosmo and encore in june and was thinking of booking a room at linq for another couple. Is this common? Can I get in trouble*

If you qualify for the comp you won't get in trouble, however if you book it and then don't gamble enough to cover the comp your future offers could be affected. If you do this, make sure your friends put their credit card on file for the incidentals.

We do it all the time in our group. You don't even have to be there. Just call the hotel and add them to the room. Your friends can check in on their own.

Great. Thanks so much. I'd hate for them to pay rack rate for 5 nights when I have comp rooms available all over town. Should I concentrate my cet play at the linq then, or will any Caesars property do?

You can't have your friends check in without you at CET. All people must be present at time of check in with their TR card or they won't honor the rate.

That is news to me. I thought the person on the comp has to be the one checking in. Interesting...

It's stated on their website every time I book, but they've never said a word at check in.

I do it, but under the following conditions:

1)I check in and list myself as the primary occupant of the room
2)I add my guest to the room but restrict charging privileges
3)Double booking means "double playing" if you want to maintain your status

I'm almost certain that this wouldn't work at any CET prop. Not sure about other places.

I have trouble believing that any operator would have a policy such as this that could be so easily exploited.

    Very, very, very common

Nobody ever, ever, ever, ever checks an ID when you enter a room. Sort of.
Actually, YOU check into the room, and then give them the key.
Sometimes folks will check in and add a name or two to the room, and then give them the key.

I'm not saying the person who has the comp never checked in. Just that they don't have to be with the other people when they check in since they're already listed on the room. This is useful if they are arriving very late or can't meet up for several hours.

Best to add their name to the room - if you don't then you can be assured they will lose the key at some point & you will have to head up there and get a new one.

When doing this if you add 2 or 3 more to the room (so there are 3 or 4 including yourself), do they charge you for the extra people? Just wondering as most of them charge extra if you put it into the booking on the site. My next trip with a comp room with have me and 2 others.

Yes, sometimes they do charge extra for 3rd or 4th.

You can easily get extra keys and just hand them to your friends. Unless your friends are going to charge food and drink to YOUR room, they do not have to have their name on the room at all. Nobody checks to see who is actually sleeping in the bed.

Remember, YOU have to do the checkin. And, make it clear that use of room service, mini-bar etc will go against YOUR credit card.

If you were booking a room directly (non casino marketing), most hotels would charge for more than 2 people; if you tell them. For comp rooms/offers, I've never been charged extra even 3-4 people listed on the room.

Thanks, good to know. the other two are related to me and we never use room service or the mini bar so should be fine.

You can add your friends name to the room when you check in and they can use their credit card for whatever hold is required, which will allow them to charge to the room if they want to. I have done this for friends with no problems.

I think the confusion is because in the original post saying "the person with the comp doesn't even have to be there" you meant that so long as the person with the comp has already checked in, they don't have to be there when the others arrive... but it could have been interpreted like you were saying the person with the comp doesn't ever have to check in or be there, which won't work: if the person with the comp hasn't checked in yet then the hotel will tell the friends they can either be checked in at the regular rate or wait until the person with the comp gets there.

Really, really skeptical about this post.

Maybe it's different on the Strip, but I book my offers at Cal, MSS, Plaza, DTG and GG for family members to use. When I book, their name is added to the reservation, but I have to check in to use the offer. They cannot check-in or get a room key until I do so.
