Casino marketing rep comped my stay in August for 3 nights. She said "I can comp all 3 nights in a Delano Queen against your expected casino play to be done here during that visit". What does this mean? Is this a front end comp? I've always booked through my MLIFE account online. But offers are trash and they disappear unexpectedly. I earned 80k tier credits all from gaming the last two trips combined. October 2015 and May 2016. (2 nights each). Slots and BJ only.

Yes it's a front-end comp, she is just saying they're expecting you to play at your usual average per night. So if you are staying 3 nights instead of 2, you should basically be expecting to increase your bankroll (or your total amount bet overall for the trip) by 50%.

Since she's not explicitly stating what that amount is, it's unlikely she would charge you for the 3rd night if you basically went and spread your usual 2 night's worth of play across the 3 nights. But she might not be happy about it either.

To be honest, 40,000 TCs from gaming should be almost enough to cover 3 nights anyway. It's the equivalent of $4,000 a night coin-in on slots for 3 nights.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. May 2-4 stats: $11,653.24 total coin in at mlife properties with $6305.47 being at Mandalay Bay. Total loss of $2961.88 at MB. Really do not like going through a marketing person to get three comp nights. I use to get emails and corporate offers all the time for 3 nights comp. I like playing how I want to play and not worrying about expectations from a rep. Hopefully an offer will come and I will just grab it, low roller like myself does not need stress from casino rep!!!

    Please help me.

Why do people think they have to meet the "expectations" of a rep/marketing. Play what you damn well want. Do not worry about the rep.

Well you'd better play what your expected or be surprised with a bill you weren't expecting in the end.

I guess I am separating an upfront comp vs "come stay with us and if you play is similar to last time we can comp your room"

Yeah, to the OP: I missed the bit about it being a casino marketing rep as opposed to a host. I'm assuming she reached out to you in some way and you asked back about getting 3 nights instead of your offers of 2?

I'm a little surprised that a marketing rep would be able to do that, but in any case, you'll never see her, so you don't have to feel a pair of eyes on you like you might with a host.

And I'd reiterate that whatever they are implying about your expected play, ~$4k a night coin in average should be at the lower end of covering it, but your offers going forward probably won't budge and if you wanted to do 3 nights again, you'd probably have to go the same route again.

I am going with my kids so my play will not be the same $4k coin in per day. I will be gambling and doing the pool and other activities with the family. I might cancel this offer from the marketing rep and take a three night from VIP services but pay the resort fee. When I called today they had the 3 night stay to offer me (plus resort fee).

I'd take the offer from the marketing rep anyway (unless: a) if the VIP offer has throw-ins like freeplay and resort credit or b) you have to pay the resort fee with the rep's offer too).

I don't think any human is going to review your play in either scenario, and whatever level you end up playing at will affect your future offers the same way. Might as well save the $105 in resort fees, if that's how it would work out.

Keep the current offer and play how you want. I have some trips where I play 8 hours/day and other trips where 3-4 hours/day are more the norm. It just depends on the trip, who I'm going with, and the vibe (am I winning or getting my ass kicked) I've never had an offer from a host (comp rooms, FP, RC) reduced on the back end. Just a little more or a little less RC and FP on the next trip. The host has never said a word about my play. Do what you want, it's your money, and have a good trip. This is at Delano also.

Just got my conformation number for trip. It states "The upfront comps are given based on anticipated casino play to be done at Mandalay Bay Casino during this trip. Lack of Mandalay Bay Casino play during this visit could result in the removal of this comp". I have never had a person state this in a confirmation letter. Do I need to contact her about expected play? Her term of "lack" and mine are probably not the same.

I just read the fine print in my confirmation letter for my trip next week and it doesn't have that verbiage. Does it say that on the offer or in the confirmation letter? I've not seen that verbiage before on confirmation letters only on comp offers from the website.

Actually, this is quite standard.... oops, wait a minute.. it has changed a bit. It usually talks about historical play, not about THIS TRIP.

Before we all reply to what we do not know, please help us.

Is this an upfront OFFER that you got via email on mlife.com or something that you and a host worked out? If you did not have an offer based on past play, then this makes sense.

I am not an expect on comps like Chuck.
In my point of view, what she gave you was a conditional offer, not the same offer as most people received from Mlife or from casino marketing.
It is not unusual for 3rd party hosts, junkets or even regular hosts to give out this kind of offer.
Personally I would never accept that.

Yeah, that's somewhat firmer language than I've seen before. I tend to think it's a scare tactic and would be unlikely to be enforced, since "lack of play" is so undefined.

But it might be enough to tip me over into using the MLife offer and paying the resort fees, just to avoid having it hanging over you, if you plan on doing significantly less than $4k/day.

I had two nights at Mandalay and one night at Delano. She is always sending me emails about concerts and other events. So I emailed her and she gave me the 3 nights at Delano comp. As chuck mentioned I might take the other offer and just pay the resort fees.

What Chuck said. I would just pay the resort fees so I didn't have to worry about it.
