Excluding family, spouse/SO and friends (for most of us here), granting dispensation for "faith," and knowing anyone who says "work" is lying, what five or six things really fuel your fire?

Just kidding of course. The first two are alright, but I could do without the lamentation

Really? I love my job. It's exactly the right match of what I'm educationally trained for and temperamentally well-suited to. And 85% of the time I can't wait to get to work. (the other 15% I want a nap, a vacation, or a glass of wine ;-)

Reading, travel, gardening. Doing all of those things with my spouse.

    *My dog
*Travel - Although we do have our places we go over and over (Vegas, Key West, New Orleans), I like going pretty much anywhere. My years are basically a never ending series of planning and looking forward to the next trip. Right now
we have FL next week, then I'm going to Salt Lake the week after to see my nephew graduate college, then two weeks later is Vegas, and in Sept a big group trip to Key West for my 50th Bday.
*Gathering with good people around a table to share food and wine and talk
*Occasional chance to have a lazy Saturday binge watching a great show
Weekly visits to our version of "Cheers", where we see and socialize with a great group of regulars over drinks.

    1. My hounds, Sadie & Bella...
    2. No longer answerin' to 'The Man'... [For those who 'love' their work and can't wait to get at 'er, I offer my most sincere congratulations at having found your passion and generating a revenue stream. I was a cubicle warrior (Old Skool IT: COBOL, MVS/JCL, PL/1, SAS, DB2, etc.) and did it because I could do it. Interest waned after coding x-number of nested-if statements, and I rode the last mainframe wave to shore in 2010]. ..I think the term we use today is being 'semi-retired'...
    3. Solitary fitness endeavors...long bike rides, going for a run, working out...
    4. Reading a great book. Mostly I read non-fiction, so the rare gem is fact that reads like a page-turner novel...
    5. Friday night with the Mrs.. Dinner is always a glass of red, pizza and TV. Simple stuff of incredible value.

I like my work, liked my previous job as well - I actually think that is key because there is a huge difference between having a job that you like and having a job you just do or don't like.

And money is key too: people who say "Money can't buy happiness" just don't have enough of it and tell themselves that just to feel better about not having enough.

My pups really are family, but I'll put them on the list anyway.

The ocean. Being on it, being in it, looking at it, breathing it and even occasionally fearing it.

Road trips. Finding and exploring the little nooks and crannies of the US.

    Chocolate.

I like this quote from football coach, Lou Holtz... goes something like this; "everyone needs three things... someone to LOVE, something to DO and something to HOPE for." I think that pretty much covers it.

Not having any cats, dogs or kids around the house to tie me down .
Being able to go to AC with Mrs. Jg and drink, gamble and basically act like people half our age (the next day can be a bitch)
Having a pt job that is simple ,gets me out of the house and doesnt involve much work or any real schedule
Living in a nice community with good neighbors .
Pretty much being free to do or not do things like fishing ,golf eating and drinking whatever I want..

    - Long weekends at our little condo by the Sea
    - Going to concerts with my wife (78 and counting, would have been 79 if Bruce hadn't cancelled Greensboro).....(Jimmy Buffet will make it 79 on Saturday)
    - Watching my wife car-dance to loud music on our way to either of the above
    - Watching my wife scream at the TV, (or in the stadium if we're lucky) as her Philadelphia Eagles disappoint yet again
    - Our dog
    - One more day
