    Hi guys,

I usually bring cash, but I am out for 12 days and am a little leery bringing 12 days worth of funds (for safety and because it is easier to burn through).

I was opting for traveler checks but 3% starts adding up for anything over a few hunded. On wiring money, they don't give you cash, so I'm not how that works on slots? The logical choice might be an atm. 5-7$ sound steep, but not compared to 3% for traveler checks. BUT I thought there was a limit you could take out each time with a debit card on a casino atm? Or worse, even a daily limit? Plus it's rare, but I've read the occasional glitch in Casino ATMS, which worries me.

I don't want to get casino credit, I know that's the easiest option but that's my line in the sand.

So, for a slots player I don't know how wiring would even work, so if someone has insights into atm allowed withdraws at Aria/Bellagio I'd appreciate it!

Or, if I'm missing something on wiring money, let me know. I just don't know how they could work if they don't give you cash, unless they load it on my card, which REALLY scares me.

P.S.....my apologies if this is the wrong section to post in, I didn't know where it would go!

I wire money and play slots. I am always given the option of getting cash or a Tito when I withdraw from my front money account.

Thanks Elf! Wiring would be my preference, easiest and check eapest. Aria said they don't give cash, but I also reached out to Bellagio, I'll see if they do cash. TITO isn't quite as sturdy/durable as cash, but if I can find a place that does cash, this will absolutely be my pick. Thank you!

I never use ATMs, but I would especially never use one if they were taking percentage instead of a flat fee. $5 is nothing when you're taking out a couple of grand. The amount you can take out may be limited by the machine, but more likely is limited by your bank, and can be changed temporarily but even then, there may be a ceiling that's less than you might think.

I used to wire money but it ends up being more of a hassle for me than a credit line, mainly because I have both and they're separate buckets on the casino's books.

Either way, if a cage won;t give you cash, take out TITO(s) and just cash one or more in if you need currency.

If you take big TITOs just be aware that a few machines might have a maximum amount they will take.

Things I've run across with wires:
    • Send the wire a couple of days before you arrive.
    • Try to confirm receipt with the cage near the end of the day after you send the wire.
    • Make sure you wire and not ACH, ACH takes longer.
    • I don't get charged by my bank for outgoing wires, but I do for incoming.
    • Most casinos have a minimums on an incoming wire and some have a minimum on outgoing. Caesars didn't want to wire $3k back to me, I had to talk them into it.
    • Usually, you have to sign for it when you get there and you have to fill out a form to send the money back, so make sure you know your routing number and account number.
    • I've never had a problem with a wire, but you are wiring to the casino's account and then the info has to be communicated to the cage. Wires are pretty safe these days, but an old oddball trick from my banking days - make the wire an odd amount like $7,003, it can make it easier to find if anything goes wrong.

I play at Mandalay. I've never had a problem getting cash. I always withdraw incrementally. You probably will have problems everywhere trying to withdraw all your cash at once. They want to see that you're gambling with it and not using them as a bank. Good luck. Have a great trip.

If you are going to use an ATM, it would be best to use a branch bank of your home account so there are no fees. Further, since you will be there for 12 days, why not just use a local bank branch to get your all your funds (with no particular limit) and deposit funds before you fly back? I would note that Wells Fargo has a actual bank branch in McCarran Airport.

now that's something I haven't thought about. I usually bring travelers checks since I don't have to pay any fees from my credit union.

also, some casinos give you something if you cash your paycheck with them. I forget which ones but they offer some bonuses if you cash your paycheck there.

Hi Fab! I use a local credit union that only has offices in my city, or that would be a great idea. On the check idea, another good one, but a lot of companies put a hold on checks, some 5-7 days!

I'm going to go with wiring I think. I am going to bring SOME cash, and Aria said they have no minimum. Chuck GREAT idea on an odd amount for tracking.... I will absolutely do that if I wire. I also planed on wiring a week ahead just to be safe. Likewise Chuck, I absolutely won't do a percentage atm, but $5 on a decent chunk is a bargain to me, I just need to check with my bank to see how much they allow. Again though, still veering towards the wire. I was nervous about losing a tito, but duh, should be able to cash it at a changer machine. I just never like one big ticket in case I leave it in the machine. (It's omly happened maybe twice in years of going, and was was there when I went back luckily, but Murphys law, it would happen when it's a big ticket!)

Again, I'll read over all your great Posts when I get closer! Once again, you guys had some great insights!

Wait you said you use a credit union? If so and your in the US all credit unions have an agreement that you can use another credit unions ATM with no fee. They started this about 10 years ago to compete against B of A and Wells Fargo giving credit unions more ATM locations then any bank

Oh my gosh, I did NOT know this, and will be at Bellagio when I'll need the second rung of funds. You guys are the BEST; I really appreciate the research! Not only will it save me money, I am always a little more comfortable withdrawing from a credit union....THANK YOU!

The other new ce thing about CUs is that if they are a part of the co-op you can go into any other co-op CU and write a check to yourself. You could withdraw your entire account balance that way if you so desired.

If using the ATM also find out when their (credit union) day 'resets'. Otherwise you could find yourself attempting to withdraw & still being on the same day you already hit limit on. Our daily is $400 but they will increase it temporarily. Our day is now midnight central but for a few years it was around 2pm central - that stink lol.

Thanks jgates, great tip as I HAVE been bit by daily max before. (Once bitten twice shy.) I actually called my bank earlier to check on limits/times. Midnight is my reset and 500 is daily limit, which works for me. NCO, great tip on the check. I think the atm will have me covered though as I will bring cash, I just want to break it up. Loverboy, thanks for that link, I'll use it!

Now, you all have been fantastic on feedback on atms/wiring....can you now just speed up time for me? My Vegasitis is getting worse by the day! :D

Jgates, that happened to me too! I blew my daily limit at the Casino one day last year, and at around 1 or 2 am the next morning(I basically stayed at the Casino until close), I tried to withdraw more money, and the ATM said I had already reached my limit despite it being technically the next day.

FYI looks like the bellagio atm is restricted access/bellagio employees only, but I'll call the parent bank to check. Even if so, this will save me money even when at home, I had no idea on the CU agreement, thanks again!

One other thing I forgot, which you might want to check on, although I don't remember Aria doing it - the first time I wired money to MGM Grand, when I went to sign for it, they put me on the phone to a host, who told me because it was a "first time wire," I could only draw 10% of it at a time. Initially, I was OK with that, because it was the amount I would normally buy in for at a table or ask for in a TITO.

So I played about half of it down, and then went to take out another marker at a table, and they sent me to the cage, at which point it became clear that they expected me to lose it all before I drew more. No good. I was able to get them to give me more, but for the rest of the trip, each time I wanted to get another TITO when I still had some left, they had to call and get an override.

Also you talked about not wanting to carry around big TITOs - the cage should be able to print out as many TITOs in whatever denomination you want. You should be able to get 20 x $100 or 10 x $500 if that's what you want.
