I used to get to vegas on Sunday night around 11 pm and leave Vegas on Thursday at 3 in the afternoon. Now things are changed and I get to Vegas at 3 in the afternoon on Sunday and my flight leaves at 7am Thursday. That means I have to be at the airport by 5:30 am which sucks. Maybe 11pm arrival wasn't so bad.

Both are definitely not ideal. But i'm guessing the former would work with my schedule better? I don't like to go to bed before 4 in Vegas with my typical drinking pattern...

5:30 am is torture. Much less in Vegas? I'd just stay up the whole night. I still can't figure out the 11 am vs. noon checkout in Vegas, but I AM an over-aged teenager!

The way I act in vegas, I would have to not drink the last full day so I could get up to catch my flight. But at the same time, when its time to go home I am usually ready to be in my own bed.

I always try to take the earliest possible flight to Vegas. In the past that has meant a 7am or so flight out of Columbus. I love the feeling of waking up in Ohio but being in Vegas before the pool is even open and having a truly full day ahead of me.

I used to prefer a late afternoon flight back home, but found those made my recovery much worse. I usually aim for a return flight at about noon now. That's the sweet spot between not affecting my last night in Vegas but also getting me home at about 7p local time.

Same here. I'll arrive around noon and leave around noon. That way I can take a nap and adapt a little to the time zone and stay up late the first night. Otherwise I'm waking up at 3am no matter what.

Just curious - just because you get in earlier on Sunday, why can't you still leave St 3pm on Thursday?

I try to leave going to Vegas mid morning/early afternoon. That way I don't have to be at the airport at the butt crack of dawn and the big early morning rush at the airport is over. Coming back, I try to avoid the first flights out so I can actually sit down and have a leisurely breakfast before I leave. I look for flights that come in no later than 4PM. Lately I've have been taking a flight that comes in around 2PM which is a dream because arrivals pickup is completely dead at that time. My ride can breeze in to pick me up without a lot of congestion and people screaming to move it along.

I really dislike the SWA departure times from Milwaukee on the non-stop flights. My choice is either 7 AM, 2:20 PM, or 7 PM. But it becomes a no-brainer. I don't want to get up at 3 AM for the 7AM flight and I don't want to get to Vegas at 9 PM for the late flight, so 2:20 PM it is.

Returning the choices become: 5:40 AM, 9 AM or 6 PM.

Oh hell no on 5:40 AM.:nono: Too old to do an all nighter.

6 PM, I don't want to get back to Milwaukee at 11 PM especially in winter, so it's 9 AM.

My wishful thinking times would be leave at 10 AM, and return flight at 11 AM, but SWA doesn't listen to me. :evillaugh

Along the same lines, I like your 3pm arrival, to me that's a perfect arrival time. Next trip I arrive 4pm depart 1155pm, not completely fond of the late departure but its five hours to sleep through a long flight. I actually booked a room for that night (comped) for the bags and a nap spot after dinner, I hate not having a room and just leaving bags checked at desk.

We generally stay Sunday (arrive before noon, as in nine or ten in the morning) through Thursday (leave around 18:00) which puts us back into Tampa shortly after midnight.
Even if we can't get into our room, we can check the luggage with the bell captain and hang out (brunch, a wee bit of gaming) before coming back to the front desk. On the way
out, the same deal. Just check the bags and catch the shuttle that afternoon. It feels like we maximize our time in Vegas.

I fly out of appleton, wi. on allegiant and they only fly on Sunday or Thursday and only fly out of Appleton at 1pm and leave Vegas at 7am. It sucks, but it beats driving to Milwaukee which is about a 2 hour drive and would give me different options.

Timr was I'd usually look for the best fare combo and go for it. I soon changed departure leaving home to around 11 or 12. This would put me in LV in mid-afternoon on a direct flight. I like this because I most always stay with friends the first two nights. Arriving then allows me to grab my bag, get the car, do a little shopping and still get to their house by four or so. I don't take connecting flights or nonstop with long layovers. If I take a nonstop, I try to adjust departure so I still get in mid-afternoon.

Coming back I like to leave around 12 or 1 in pm. This way I don't have rush and have time for a quick stop or two if need be. I get home around 4-5, which is a comfort zone for me. The older I get, the regimented I get. Sometimes getting the very best fare isn't worth. It's vacation, so treat it that way.

    Good Luck

I prefer to arrive early so I have a full Vegas day ahead of me, and leave mid-day so I get home before it's super late... but not always possible depending on flight schedules and my work schedule. for my next trip, I'm not leaving till after work so heading out of Dallas Love Field at 7pm Monday... but thanks to the time change, I'll arrive in LV at 8pm just in time for cocktails, dinner, and maybe a little gambling

We shoot for the earliest flight to/from Vegas.
This gives us most of the day in Vegas due to the extra 3 hours.
Getting up at 3am Vegas time for an early flight home isn't an issue as its 6am Eastern time and I am usually up anyway.
Catching the early flight home does make it a bit easier to fall asleep on the plane.

I drive (4 hours) so I usually plan arrival and departure times so I hit very little traffic. My usual arrival day is either Sunday thru Tuesday. For the Sunday start trips I usually am on the road before 4AM... I'd be at my casino no later than 9, that drive usually involves a stop at Primm. For years I'd have no problem checking in early, now of course I still do it but for a price.... I depart about 8AM, I'm back home around noon...

I just flew back to Milwaukee last night on the 630pm. Got delayed and ended up landing at 110 am. Not good. I did like wandering the strip during the afternoon and being able to pack relaxed in the morning. The 9 am flight was an option, but on a Saturday night in Vegas I don't want to have waking up early in the back of my mind. So I guess there is the good and the bad of it.

I used to try to max out vegas time vs hotel nights (this was pre-comps or discounts) and fly in first thing Vegas time and take the red-eye home. Forget that noise. Hotels are a relatively low cost for the trip. I'd rather come in and go home at a sane time and just spend the extra night.

I arrive Early and Leave Early. Would be nice to take a night flight sometime but
I don't want to lug a suitcase around all day after getting kicked out of the room.
I could Arrive at night but then I would feel like I missed a whole day. I usually arrive
in Vegas around 9:50AM. Love landing, Checking in and then having Breakfast.
For an East Coast Flight that means I'm up at 3:30AM and Boarding around 6:30AM.
