    My Trip Report

My wife and I have six kids and about a month ago we decided we needed an 'us' vacation. After posting a question about comps to the board it was suggested that I switch my reservation from NYNY to Cosmo. At the direction of Kevin, Cosmo slot VP I contacted a host there. We are by no means high rollers, but gamble more than most casual tourists. The host offered a Terrace One Bedroom for $175/nt. After checking online I saw that I could get Terrace Studio with fountain view for the same price. I asked the host if she would do the studio w/fv for the same price, and that was agreed upon.

After work Sunday night (managing trade show) I got home exhausted about 11 and still had to pack, didn't get to bed until 1230 but something about going to Vegas motivates me to get up, even if it is at 4 am. Flew SWA and arrived in Vegas at 915 this morning. While waiting for our luggage we each put a $20 in a machine. Wife won $15, and I won $20, starting our trip on the right foot.

Took Lyft to Cosmo from the airport, the driver was great. Total for the ride was only $12, and I did the promo for $5 off 10 rides so I tipped the $5 back to him.

Got checked in and the host had us down for a Terrace Studio no fountain view, a little annoyed by this because I have an email stating something different, but the check in clerk let me know that my rate allowed me to opt out of the resort fee if I so desired. We didn't get the view we were hoping for, but I am on vacation and will just roll with it.

The rooms are really nice, and my wife loves the jetted tub. One thing about Cosmo though is they really don't have any casual dining options. We usually just eat a lighter lunch and there is no way to do that there. Also it seems that until Eggslut opens really the only option for breakfast is the buffet.

My goal this trip was to try to focus my play at one location, but the dining options at Cosmo make it really hard to not want to leave.

We played a variety of slots for the first three hours, my wife seems to really enjoy the Brittney Spears one, and I hope to make it to the high limit room a little later. So far we are down $500, but I come to win, and I am patient.

Walked down to Smash Burger at Ceasars, they have a VERY limited menu, but it was delicious. There is not one in Washington, so I usually only have it when I am in Cali visiting my parents.

We have no plans for this trip, will do a nice steak dinner somewhere one night, and will go to a show, thinking MJ one or zumanity, but I don't like making plans, so we will probably work that out day of. As a general rule I hate people, and especially crowds. Room rates this week were super low, so I am hoping things are slow.

Hopefully I will be posting about some big wins later.

Understand you not making a big deal of it now, but hope you'll follow up with Kevin or your host after the trip to try to figure out how the mistake was made.
The Henry, Holstein's & Secret Pizza are all casual dining options. Others may be too, but those are the only ones I've been to. If you want something lighter, check out Va Bene Cafe. VBC & The Henry are both good choices for breakfast.

Good luck, hope big wins are coming your way!

Best of luck! I hate it when I have an issue with a reservation. I had an issue at NYNY once where I had an email from the Host about free play, which wasn't on my account with my reservation, and they refused to take it at face value. They had to call the host station and our host wasn't available but those spoke to someone else who verified. They said that anyone could have written the email. Won't stay at NYNY again, if I can help it. Not a huge roller but am MLiFE Gold.

Hope you both have a great time - the rooms at Cosmo are quite amazing. If we liked playing at one property, we'd likely stay there for the rooms.

As Breakeven said, the Henry is a good casual option, try the short rib eggs benedict.

LOL, I get the same way sometimes...but I also sometimes feel like the energy of a bunch of people having a good time enhances the experience.

Didn't see Henry's until we were on our way back in, and I will be searching out Secret Pizza tomorrow.
To me Holstien's is a sit down restaurant and just to clarify by casual I was referring to more of a meal that wouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes start to finish, more of the food court variety. We will check out the cafe tomorrow as well.

After a nap my wife wanted to do her hair so I headed down to play some PGP. Won 1 hand in about an hour playing $50/hand. A lot of pushes of course but losing $300 was about my limit so I headed to find a slot to play. Wandered in to the High Limit area and sat down at dollar quick hit. Played $27/spin and got the bonus for $1088. Poked around the high limit room for another 30 minutes or so and left up $600 for the session.

Back to PGP because the wife still wasn't ready for dinner. Bought in for $300 and had a lot of up and down, but mostly down. 30 minutes later the wife finally came down and I was down to about $140. Since I was hungry I put $125 on one last hand, a push. OK, got to play one more...finally got a nice win. Threw a few bucks to the dealer and cashed out at $260. Not a win, but I was happy.

Used a BOGO my Vegas reward for the buffet at Aria, standing in line for it now.

So far with my fuzzy math we are about even give or take a couple hundred. Just means I will be pressing and being more aggressive in the days to come.

Still waiting for my first hand pay, win today was the closest I've ever been.

Inside the casino I don't mind the crowds, it is outside on the street where people in front of you stop to take a pic in the middle of the walkway or the group that meanders 5 people wide taking up the whole sidewalk. I am a combat vet and get a little extra nervous when people create choke points in crowds.

I feel oddly at ease inside the casino. My job requires constant focus, and I don't know if it is the perceived safety of the casino, but it is one of the few public places I feel I can relax.

The buffet at Aria was good. I am a meat and potatoes guy, so I didn't eat much of the fancy stuff, but for $40 for two with a myvegas reward it was worth it. Went back to Cosmo for some high limit slot action. After losing $1,000 we decided it was time to go play some dollar slots. Found a new one I like, Super Times Pay respin. Won back about $500 on that.

We budget about $2500 per day and I still have over $1500 from today. Will be doubling down on the efforts for that elusive hand pay tomorrow.

I will be staying there in May so have been doing some research. I too prefer casual food. I don't think anyone has mentioned this:

Va Bene Caffè is a polished, modern Las Vegas Italian coffee bar with the "it's all good" attitude reflected in its name. Conveniently located on the casino floor of the West End Tower, Va Bene Caffè is a refreshing departure from the average coffee shop. It offers a variety of freshly prepared items, including soups, salads, paninis, other light fare, and – of course – coffee carefully prepared by master baristas.

    Have a great trip!

Won $2400 in the high limit room this morning. Met our host who apologized for the mix up and offered to switch our room for a fountain view but we are already settled in. Headed to Seceret Pizza for lunch.

Down about $600 for the trip now. Gave a lot back this afternoon, just couldn't get in the groove. Took a break from slots for 30 minutes or so to play PGP. Dealer was a kid with no personality, didn't talk and it looked like it took all of his focus just to not make a mistake. Lost about $150 and left not because I was losing, but because the dealer made it not entertaining.

Walked down to Monte Carlo to collect a myvegas reward for alcohol infused shakes from BLVD Creamery. They were delicious.

Ran a couple hundred through the slots at MC, then walked to PH for some Earl of Sandwich.

It has been really windy here and in the 60's and all I brought were shorts, my wife wants to tell me 'I told you so' so bad that I have to pretend I'm not freezing.

HaHaHa - that is exactly what happened to us about a month ago when we stayed at Cosmo and planned to walk across to PH and walk the strip - DH was so sure weather would be moderate, he didn't bring a jacket - having been down this road before, I packed his lightweight jacket in my suitcase. Sure enough what had started out as a nice sunny day turned really windy and temps dropped about 20 degrees - we ran back to the room and I handed him his jacket and off we went. Of course, my payback was he handed me a nice tip of 100 bucks to play at PH. Winners, all!

Hope y'all have some really good wins the remainder of your stay. BTW our favorite place to eat was China Poblano - but enjoyed all of the restaurants we tried at Cosmo.
    Really enjoying following your TR.

Ok, forgot to finish this up, been crazy busy since I got home, no one does my job when I am gone so I always come back to stacks of work.

Wednesday started out with some PGP, betting about $100/hand. Pit boss and dealer were both making jokes, and I had a great time. Kept hitting my loss limit and going all in trying to save my session and that worked 2-3 times. Had one particularly good hand, a 4OAK which paid an extra $125 on the fortune bonus for me. Wife was at the spa so I had plenty of time to kill. After about two and a half hours I finally had lost all I was willing to lose, and my wife was done with her spa treatments (massage and facial, she said spa there was awesome) we went to get some lunch. Went to Bobbys Burger Palace for lunch and had the Brunch burger and bacon cheese fries. I enjoyed it, but I don't think the wife was too impressed. I have low standards when it comes to food.

played some slots with the wife for a while who hit for $2,000 on a $5 wild cherry machine. That brought us back to about even for the trip. Spent a couple hours just wandering around, throwing $100 into whatever machine caught our eye. We were up and down and in early afternoon my wife said she was getting bored and was going to get ready for dinner. I took the opportunity to return to the PGP table. It was a full table but everyone was having a good time and the dealer was getting terrible hands. After an hour I ended up cashing out up $500.

Went to dinner at STK, every time we go to Reno or Vegas we will have one nice dinner, and STK was no exception. My only complaint is that the setting is not real intimate. We were seated at a table for two and were in between two other tables for two occupied by people talking business. The service was excellent. My wife had the 6 oz filet, and I had the 10 oz filet, both done just the way we like it. Hers burnt and mine raw. We shared an order of mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I'm not one for vegetables, so I passed on those, however, next time I would probably get the asparagus, which looked good. We also shared a bottle of Pinot Noir of which I drank 3/4ths.

After dinner I was feeling real loose and ready to GAMBLE. I started feeding hundreds into the $25 machines in the high limit room. At this point I had $5k in the safe upstairs and was happy going home with that. The $3k I had on me was either getting spent or we were going to double up. After about 15 minutes I was down $1500. My wife told me it was time to move on, but I wasn't done yet. Wondered around the casino playing some penny slots, but winning .40 cents a spin on a $4 bet doesn't do much for me. Found some $5 machines and blew another $500. We went outside and walked the strip a little for some fresh air. Went back to Bobbys and got a couple of alcohol infused milkshakes, drank those then went to bed.

Woke up Thursday morning with about $900 left to spend. Hit the PGP tables again and lost $500, then headed to Wicked Spoon for breakfast. Like I have said before, I am not a foodie, and everything there had some fancy spin on it. Pancakes were orange-apricot or something, French toast had walnuts in it. I like my breakfast simple and greasy, especially after a night of drinking. Ate a couple of ham and cheese omlets and some toast and called it good.

Host arranged for us to have late checkout because our flight wasn't until 1:30, so we did a little shopping for the kids before it was time to go. Got checked out and our host took care of everything except $32 or so in charges, which I was pleased with.

Took Lyft to the airport for $12. Every time I used lyft I tipped $5, saved more than that by not using a cab every time, will continue to use them in the future, and highly recommend over cabbies every time.

Already got an offer for a return trip to Cosmo for 4 free nights, $650 free play and $200 resort credit. Another trip will be in our future.

    Thanks for following along.
