Hello everyone! Rob here from good old England. I've only been to Vegas one time, but i've just recently booked my second trip which will make it two trips in 12 months, which isn't bad for a micro-roller a few thousand miles away if you ask me! I hear the phrase "Disneyland for adults" mentioned a lot when talking about Vegas, and I completely agree with it. The sights and sounds are so intoxicating and there's so much to do. Casinos over here just dont have the same atmosphere. It may not be such a big deal to the Americans here, but the experience of a shooting range for an Englishman is very alien and very very cool too. It's not really something we can do over here. I loved the amazing feat of engineering that is the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon is simply breathtaking, so for me the attraction of Vegas isn't just about the Strip and the casinos, I do like to be a proper tourist about things. I stayed at Treasure Island on my first visit, which was to celebrate my 30th birthday and also my dad's birthday which was just after mine. I liked the fact that it was a little smaller than some of the other places I visited on my trip. Or in the case of Venetian/Palazzo, a place I just got straight up lost in! I'd love to stay in the Aria or Wynn/Encore some day, maybe i'll have to wait a little longer between trips next time so I can afford it. I'll be staying at the Mirage on my next trip which is booked for October, which i'm really looking forward to. Not celebrating anything this time, just fell in love with Vegas and needed to go back! I'll be taking a Vegas virgin with me this time so despite only having been once, I guess i'll have the role of the "expert". I guess I haven't spent long enough in Vegas yet to really have any stories that I could call amazing, but there was one little thing that stuck with me from my visit last year - me and my buddy were getting a beer from the bar outside the Absinthe tent before a show, and the barman asked us (as many did) where we were from. We told him we were from Yorkshire in England, and the presumably American barman then executed, without being prompted, a perfect Yorkshire accent for the rest of the time he was serving us Im looking forward to posting here, especially in the 6 and a half month of buildup to my next trip. The trip reports are pretty amazing to read. See you around the boards, folks!
Welcome Rob! So glad you get to make a return trip so soon.....sounds like you are addicted like many of us. Scour all the great info on here to really impress your LV virgin with your expertise! Happy planning & hope you have a great time!
Welcome from a fellow Brit and Vegas fan. Agree with your post, every trip to Vegas is an adventure. My next trip is a year away, but plans are in train.
I would like to add my welcome too. Vegas is many thing to us all. One trip my wife and I took a couple of days and saw the Zion and Bryce national parks in southern Utah. Beautiful scenery for those who choose not to hike. I know England pretty well having spent about 4 years there in the military plus trips on business or leisure travel. My ancestors came from Yorkshire but I have a southern US accent. LOL
Welcome and hope this next trip is as much fun as the first. So many different things to do and enjoy in and around Vegas. Lots of knowledgeable folks here to help any questions. Not sure what kind of room you are getting at Mirage, but if it is a standard room, for a bit more you can get a 'Tower King', the bathroom is roomier and has a walk-in shower - bathrooms at Mirage tend to be on the small side in their standard rooms and have the tub/shower combo, if that kind of thing matters to you.
I'll probably try the $20 trick when I get there for a room with a decent view at the very least, but we'll be wanting a room with two queen beds, I don't think me or my buddy would be very happy if we had to share a bed for a week haha!
Welcome Rob!! Another Brit here who caught the Vegas bug!! First trip was when I was 22, been back on average once a year for the past 12 years. You're right about the atmosphere being incomparable. Hopefully our trips will collide someday!
Now that's the way to do it haha! I'll be more than happy to go as often as I can afford it, although there is a temptation to sneak a trip to New York in at some point too.
Yeah that's a good place to visit...... You can always pop down the coast to Atlantic City for some casinos too!!
