alcohol in rooms

Will be going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. I noticed on various hotel casino web sites that there will be NO alcohol or food brought onto the property.
Will be staying at Cosmo and Hard Rock. They both have this policy. Hard Rock is 'Subject to confiscation'. At times we like to have something when we arrive and before
the games begin and other times just a small break. Has anyone been caught and the outcome? I don't know if it is to push their booze and food or for controlling how much and where you drink.
For us at this stage in life, it's not party time!! How do you bring in booze and keep it cold?

We had the Bellman cart up cases of beer, wine and liquor when we held my 50th at Cosmo and no one blinked an eye. As a matter of fact, the Bellman had Housekeeping bring up all the glassware we'd need. Perhaps a group of 20 somethings may raise an eyebrow, not sure, but I think they have that rule in place so they can enforce it if they think there may be a problem.

 

Every room i've ever stayed in (Cosmo included) has allowed me to bring a large wheeled cooler that the bellman has brought up for us. Besides, you can always go to the local liquor store and bring it to the room. Security is going to be watching what you have in your bags unless it's like 2 a.m. and you stand out.

 

Did you ever drive 56 in a 55 zone? Same difference. Just don't be flagrant and poke the bear.

Go out and buy a soft sided zippered insulated bag that looks like a beach tote. One of my friends has a backpack that is insulated and holds a 12 pack of beer.

 

I've never even heard of such a policy! I've stayed at Mandalay, Trop, Plaza, Excalibur, Stratosphere , Cortez, and Monte Carlo it has never even once come across my attention while booking or checking in that alcohol isn't permitted in the rooms. If this is the case, why do they even sell alcohol in the gift shops? That makes no sense at all.

 

If it was enforced. Every CVS, Walgreens and every liquor stores would close up.

 

Stash the bottles in your luggage. It's not like they search your bags.

 

Cosmo has some of the best refrigerators on the strip so keeping your stuff cold shouldn't be a problem. I wouldnt worry about house keeping notifing management about your personal alcohol. Like others have said as long as you're not wheeling a keg up the elevator you should be alright. I've never stayed at HR. Have a good trip!!

We brought liters upon liters of wine into the Cosmo last Labor Day. Not to mention all of the weed lol. It's Las Vegas, nobody gives a fuck.

Most hotels across the country have this "rule". Only there when needed - drunk ass parties, etc.

In reality, nobody has an issue. As said,folks drag in cases of booze. They sell it in the gift shop. Not an issue at all.

 

I read into it that both of them are trying to prevent people from bringing in outside caters to do large parties when they want a piece of the action. I think most places are like that.

I've been a long-time, frequent guest of the Hard Rock and they've had to resort to enforcing it when things get out of hand. I've seen guys grab the bell-cart and start stacking cases of beer and liquor to haul up to their rooms... not gonna fly. I've seen many people walk over to the CVS across the street and discretely bring booze in and no one says a word. "Discrete" meaning in the CVS bag, not hidden under a coat or anything. I will say this for Hard Rock, in an effort to combat outside booze being brought in, they have 2 small convenience stores (one at the HRH Tower and another larger one on the way back to the Paradise Tower) that have beer, booze, chips, etc. and it's not ridiculously priced.

 

We also had my 50th at Cosmo catered by an offsite restaurant and again, there was no problem. We just had to meet them in the lobby and bring them up.

 

Exactly. The point of this policy is that if you really are going to host some sort of massive event in your room/suite, it's supposed to go through resort catering. Every hotel has a similar clause, it's only an issue if you go way, way out of line (and even then it takes a lot to actually get caught and/or in trouble).

 

At Cosmo, if I recall correctly, the top shelf of the large refrigerator is for guests to use.
Be careful of the other shelves as they are pressure-sensitive and you could get a whopper of a bill.

If you need more than one shelf, consider a soft side cooler.

I've seen folks carrying cases of all sorts of beverages to their rooms at Cosmo, Mirage, Bellagio.

 

I think it one of those rules there in case they find a situation that is getting out of hand.

 

Keep in mind that the fridges in most units can't be used (full of minibar stuff, and everything has a sensor/chip on it, so if you move it out, you get charged).

I've seen posted signs in many hotels that say no beer coolers (pretty sure I've seen that in Cosmo). But I've never seen rules posted saying no outside food/alcohol. I looked on Cosmo's website for their rules, I couldn't find them.
