Table Games Dealer Errors

Lately I have been noticing a lot of dealer errors while dealing Spanish21 and Blackjack.

if there is a dealer error against you, I understand that you call it out, but if there is a dealer error in your favor, do you still tell them? or do you just silently take the winnings?

I have had situations where I lost a hand and the dealer never took my bet away or a soft 6 hit on the dice table and the dealer never removed my hard way bet. In all cases I keep my mouth shut and let the bet stand until the next decision.

 

I have to admit that I have both notified the dealer when they made a mistake in my favor and I have also kept quiet about it. The size of my wager was not the determining factor. The demeanor of the dealer ultimately was what decided it for me. I have taken overpayments on a craps table when the dealer was a real ass. Does this justify my taking an overpayment? Hell no, but I'm human.

 

I was playing Texas hold 'em bonus at Cromwell and I had my money on ante, flop, turn and river and the dealer thought she had a queen high and that I had her beat then I notice that she ended up having a queen high flush and I said something, she said she was going to pay me out too.

Ive noticed a few errors here and there, but the only time its been consistant was at 4Q's. After a long night of drinking I sat down for some low rolling BJ and the dealer was paying me after nearly every hand, regardless of the outcome. I sat quietly for the shoe and ended up trippling my 200 buyin, tipped well and snuck out.

 

I tell the dealer, but at the same time try not to embarrass them. Repeated mistakes can cost them their jobs, and I have a conscience. Regardless if karma returns the favor, its the right thing to do.

I believe it is the dealer's job to watch the casino's money and be sure they're not cheated, not mine. My job is to watch my money and be sure I'm not cheated. To do this I make sure I am well versed in any game I play and that I know what the correct payoff should be on any winning bet I make. In essence, I do my homework. It is the casino's job to make sure their dealer's know the same. That is my stance. That being said, I always point out when the dealer makes a mistake. I never pick up chips that I actually lost and the dealer failed to pick up...I don't feel they belong to me anymore and that I would be picking up the casino's chips, thus stealing. It's all very conflicting for me.

 

I always inform them of a mistake. I know they have an edge in gambling, but I would feel right if I didn't win honestly. They are not making me play a negative expectation game. I do so under my own free will. When I win though they have always honored the obligation to pay me.

 

A Holdem bonus dealer shorted me $25 when I cashed out at Mandalay Bay and I brought it to his attention but he put my chips away so fast when he colored me. The pit boss said I was wrong. I was so angry lol

But I had multiple times where they paid me when I lost at offer casinos. It all evens out

 

There's mistakes and there's non-mistakes.

I was playing bacc early one morning in a HL room with one other guy at the table. I took a marker for $3,000 all in blacks. Played about 10 hands, was up a few chips. The other guy decides to leave. I don't want to play alone, so I tell the box I want to buy back the marker. New dealer comes in at the same time. I shove my chips in to color, she doesn't realize the box gave me back my marker. So she gives me three yellows.

I'm pretty baked so I don't really grasp exactly what happened, get on the elevator, go to my room, Put the marker and the yellows on the desk and figure it out. 10 secs later the phone rings. I went right down and gave back the yellows.

Non-mistakes: At least 3 times, I've had craps dealers pay me blacks on oral bets I never made. $500 once. That's what tipping can do for you.

 

I have found that the more experienced the dealer in BJ that make a mistake the quicker they are to cover it up.Hoping that no one has spotted their error.They don"t need the attention from their boss.Therefore if these dealers make an error in my favour l say nothing.However if l catch the mistake l speak up real fast. That being said l have lost a few bets to new dealers that l did not comment on,their mistake/my loss.Fair go for everyone,l'll make it up on the next few hands.l know what some of you will say about this,but think back to your first job all those years ago.As my other half would say KARMA.My response to her is always the same"l should be rich from gambling if that is the case."ODDS bloody ODDS.

 

I typically leave an unearned win out there for the next hand. If that hand wins, I continue to leave the unearned amount out there (in addition to my 'normal' bet) until it loses.
In my mind, I have returned the unearned payout. Yes - I made money 'borrowing' it for a few hands, but I could have done that same thing with my legitimate winnings, so I see nothing immoral or unethical in doing so.
The exception to this is when I'm paid on a 'push'. Then, I leave my original bet out there, add my normal bet to it, & play one hand pressed. If I win or lose *that* hand, I go back to betting as usual.

 

Yep - I have had craps dealers pay me more on often and I know it is because I was tipping. A couple times I have had a black chip on the bottom and a slight head nod from the dealer. Other times I will have forgotten to put out a hardways bet that I always had been playing or my odds and the box will say just drop it down and we will pay it.

As for straight up errors? Sometimes I will tell them, other times I won't and in my buzzed/drunken states sometimes I don't even notice until a hand or two later.

 

If I notice it myself I will usually tell the dealer. If I have a certain dealer that once cost me $700 on his error I will not tell him, he owes me.

 

I only tell the dealer if I'm the only one affected regardless of who's favor it's in. If it doesn't affect only me, I will state the error if it helps the player out, but not if it hurts the player. I've done that many times when I see someone get shorted on a payout. The number of times that an error is made in favor of the player, I'm sure is canceled out by the number of times an error is made in favor of the house. After all, I can't be there to help out everyone in Vegas.

 

if it is in their favor i will call out. if in my favor I will shut my mouth and tip a few chips lol

 

I think that the larger casinos have far better trained dealers and therefor there are less dealer errors, in the smaller casinos I think the dealers are newer and therefor make more mistakes

 

My local casino is constantly breaking in new dice dealers which means lots of errors.

If a mistake is made in my favor or the crew takes care of me(paying odds or a hardway I forgot to place) I put up extra tokes for them.

I was short payed a couple times at the Mirage on place bets several years ago despite an argument.That tends to make you look at occasional mistakes in your favor differently.

When I'm playing where everyone knows me I will usually tell them if they made an error.

 

The eye in the sky sees virtually nothing in regards to mispays. I've collected errors in my favor dozens of times and never once had one called back by surveillance.

 

Had this happen at The Edgewater Casino in Laughlin some years ago. Playing BJ and the dealer drew to a 6 or 7 card 21. She counted as she was drawing the cards and came up with 22. Immediately she started to pay all of us. We all looked at each other and smiled, then the new guy at third base yells, "Did you see that. Can you believe it?" That got the attention of Jim, one of the floor supervisors I know there. He made a call to some one, and in 10 minutes she got a "tap" on the shoulder by her replacement. I never saw her again that night.
None of us at the table were going to say a thing, especially me, but that new guy.........
