I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked. This will be the first time in Vegas for us. I most likely will try at least a few different casinos for both atmosphere as well as determining which I do better at (mainly Craps and Blackjack). Should I get for players cards at these different casinos to accumulate comps, or is there something I can get at the tables for my play? Thanks!
Really depends how long you play and your average bet. but yes get a card at every casino. most of the casinos on the strip are owned by 2 companies so they share a card. ( MGM Mlife card) and (CET total rewards card)
Definitely get a card at any casino you play....couldn't hurt. If you play at any CET casino ( Planet Hollywood / Bally's / Paris / Caesars / Flamingo/ Harrah's or Cromwell....can use 1 card for all casinos. If you are in LV by 3-31....get 50 tier points at any combo of casinos in 1 day and get a free buffet....can use at any property except Caesars or Cromwell. Yes, if you have a players card & present it at the table, they will rate your play to receive tier points / in slots - run $5 thru to get 1 point / Video Poker - $10 for 1 point...
You will not get them to give you anything at the tables...those days have pretty much come and gone. So to enjoy any comps you will need to sign up for the players cards at the casino to get in their system. Depending on your betting you could be eligible to have charges comp'd at the end of your stay (aka back end comps). Prior to checking out you'd need to stop by the hosts office and ask them if your play is eligible for anything and they will let you know. Make sure to charge things to your room if you plan to do this.
That's not completely true. In Fremont, they are very loose with comps (I find that to be so anyway). I've also had one host a south strip property basically beg me to sign up for a players card while playing mid-green on blackjack because I would be "most certainly eligible to get comped a room".
Apologies if I didn't word my post correctly - but you will not get discretionary comps at the tables. Pit bosses aren't comping buffets or a pack of smokes like they used to. Everything is run through your players card and tied to what you're betting, as you know. If you don't have a player club account then they won't be able to do anything.
Yes, get a card. If it isn't recorded on a computer you will not receive a comp. It is that way for just about every casino in the world. I am sure there are a few that still have "Ace" giving you comps based on the eye test but I am not so sure I'd like to give my play to that type of establishment anyways, It is almost a weekly occurrence that I will be approached by a customer for a food comp that claims a large loss that isn't recorded, and as a result I cannot do anything. It is standard operating procedure for the pit supervisor to offer to sign you up for an account if you are playing to a level that necessitates one. Any time I play at a new casino the first thing I do is sign up for a players card, even if it is a Pahrump lakeside RV park casino with only slots. (which I did a couple weeks back, wonderful vibe in there).
I use my card all the time But also at MSS got lunch comp for 2 from pit boss playing blackjack. Seen others also get comp food from pit bosses there.
actually I got a discretionary comp at the fremont when I was there in January. I'm basically a red chip player but I barely fluctuated my bets when I was playing. On average I probably had less than $25 on the table ($5 pass and $5 odds, place $6 on the 6 and 8). After about 50 minutes I asked the pit boss for a comp buffet and he checked my play and asked if I wanted the comp for 2 people or one. Since I was alone I asked for 1 comp buffet and he gave me a comp to the seafood buffet.
Re: getting players cards. I usually hold off on getting players cards unless I put in some play at a casino. When you initially sign up for players cards you sometimes get some "teaser" offers (sometimes free nights, usually reduced hotel rates) to stay at the hotel. That is great if you are going to use it in the next few months but after the initial offers you may not get any other "teaser" offers again so I usually hold off on getting the player's card unless I know that I'm going to put in some play or if I want to get some teaser offers. But this is JMHO, lots of people say to pick up player's cards even if you don't play but I don't agree with that. I should have waited on signing up for the player's card at the Wynn, initially I had some good offers and reduced rates but since then (I haven't played there) I get the standard "special" rates of $139 a night on weekdays. Yes, you can ask them and they will make a player's card for you at the table. I saw this done at the crap table at the Cal hotel. Not sure if other casinos do that but I do know they do that at the Cal.
I would agree with this. Sadly, years ago we went around getting cards everywhere. Even did matching offers. We should have paced ourselves to get those "first time only" deals. And, since we both had status, we should have only matched ONE of us each trip. Just getting cards for the sake of getting cards was foolish. Okay... with that said, you if you are one of those folks that might spend only a few bucks at each casino...it really does not matter.
