One minute of background - I'm planning on staying this weekend at Aria and got the OK that I can room change my Hakkasan bill. I'm more of a poker player than gambler and therefore budgeting only $500/day to gambling (craps and BJ mostly). My poker BR is $2,000 for the weekend and will probably be playing both cash games and tournaments. I'm also budgeting $2,500 to clubbing and know that one of the nights will be spent at Hakkasan. Realizing that comps are mostly tied to theo, my question is... I'm planning on charging my groups Hakkasan bill to my room (probably will come to around $10,000, give or take) so that the spend is picked up on my MLIFE account. Will this have ANY influence on comps whatsoever? I realize my gambling will likely not get any attention and just want to know what I can expect from my room charges - if any. Thanks guys!
Spending won't effect your comps. That's all based on amount gambled. Though if mlife counts it as spend you'll get around 250k tier points and you'll be a higher status assuming you aren't already gold or platinum. But as for comps, I would not expect any beyond what your gambling earns you.
Probably showing my age and.or lack of coolness... but sure having a hard time wrapping my head around these amounts. Yea, I know it is not that uncommon. I might add in though, I hope the credit card you are using for the hotel is at least getting you good points and/or cash back. Maybe even a card that gives multiplier on travel expenses.
Oh hell yeah! I always do the same with my groups. Not only will you be Platinum Mlife but Hak codes as a restaurant for most CCs so you could get some mega CC points. Or at the very least $200 on a 2% cash back card. Mlife Pltinum also comes in handy when you want to skip cab, buffet, and hotel check in lines.
He is charging it to MGM who is charging his credit card. When you do a room charge it pre-authorizes your credit card on file and upon checkout it will finalize the charges. If your limit on your card is less than you charge amount then your room charge will be declined.
I think this is in regards to getting the credit card bonus(es) for Hakkasan being in the restaurant grouping. Since the charge will added to the room bill, it will be billed as a hotel charge to the credit card instead of a restaurant since the charge is coming from the hotel, not the club directly. As for comps, I did something similar last Summer. Our group did a cabana day at Aria one day. Everyone chipped in for the cost of the cabana and I charged it to my room. After all was said and done, I got enough points from the hotel room spend to make mLife Gold, but am lucky to get a moderate casino rate from mLife now.
Be sure to link your Hyatt number and MLIFE number and be sure that the Hyatt number gets into your reservation at check-in. That way after charging to your room you will get the Hyatt points (5 per dollar up to $5k) as well as the MLIFE points and whatever credit card points you get (maybe you have a card that gives you a bonus for hotel charges - but note that the Chase Hyatt card does not count MGM as a Hyatt hotel).
I have noticed on my account I have offers that are labelled as M life Exclusive Tier Discount, they're not great but perhaps a little better then what a base offer is, so there might be a little better offer based solely on tiers.
