Nice! We went to the Trop tonight and won a little. Trop is very nice. CET has us on their teat to earn tier credits but truth be told, Trop is nicer than Harrah's in many ways.

Trop is looking better these days I agree. I hear they're updating their old rooms also. With me Harrahs is easier to get to being right off rt 30 and the 3 vp bars we like.
Cancelled this friday night ,need to take a couple of weeks off. While Mrs. was playing I hung out in Mountain Bar till wee hours with two 40 something honeys ,dancing and drinking. .

Congratulations to Mrs. JG on the Royal, that I must be some kind of record. The Mountain Bar is pretty awesome, did they have a band playing? We like the Trop, but never seem to win there.

I've only seen one VP bar at the Trop and all the machines are either .25 triple play or $1 single play. The paytables are good, though. Better than Harrah's. You'll find me at the $2 Three Card Poker virtual table machine.

Yes they had a young group on the stage next to the bar. I wandered over there basically to grab a couple of $3 beers . We've been to AC just about every week for a month or two so we figured it's time to stay home a week or two. Mrs. JG pointed out that theres the sunday between the championship and super bowl games so maybe we'll go down then.

Here is a recent win from Caesars Toga Bar, how bad is the payout table for this machine?

Good for the missus, not to hijack your thread BUT?:wink2:

If I've never been to AC before, how does it stack up to Vegas?
With Revel closing and all, are there places besides Borgata that are as good as some of the places on the Strip?

Well thats a tough one ,it's not Vegas but a lot of gambling destinations arent. Places like Biloxi,Tunica Reno etc. not Vegas.either. Lot of other things and places to see if you come east in the warm weather.

Borgata and Revel (now closed) are the only AC properties equivalent to an upper end Strip property. All the rest are like mid-range Strip properties. The locals would like everyone to believe that there is a lot to do here in AC, but really, the only thing to do in AC is gamble. Maybe visit the beach, pool or spa if you're so inclined; maybe shop at the mid-range outlet shops. Nothing of any worthwhile destination nearby. All just Northeastern suburbs until you hit a major city. Only natural destination is the Pine Barrens which don't hold a candle to other natural destinations. The fact of the matter is that Southern New Jersey is not a pretty State...for pretty you have to head to the Appalacian Mountain chain or at least upstate PA.

I have to disagree, but we all have our opinions. Mrs JG is originally from the Johnstown,Altoona Pa area, talk about a depressed place to live. She left there after HS and is not going back.

Upstate PA is no box of chocolates, been to Scranton, Wilkes Barre or Hazleton? To each his own.

South Jersey is the "garden" of the Garden State, flat as a pancake, but the coastline attracts millions of visitors in the summer. Some of them even gambled and generated a $3.5 Billion win for the 8 casinos last year on one small barrier island. Lots to do when the weather cooperates, boating, biking, fishing, crabbing, beach, drinking beers on the deck at the Golden Nugget, grooving to the band with my white man overbite.

Comparing casinos in AC to Vegas is like comparing Philly or Boston to NYC. But there is fun to be had, so Frank, if you make your way out to Long Island this summer, make a side trip to AC.

Kind of off topic, but I was thinking about heading up to the Poconos for a weekend getaway, so I called Mt. Airy Lodge for hotel rates Friday and Saturday nights. Two nights with taxes and fees came to about $800, plus the snotty agent said my last visit was 6 years ago and I had very little play to justify any offers. I realized I could probably buy two round trip tickets for two and spend three nights for about the same price.

We stayed at Mt. Airy back in Oct. Two weekdays,I chatted up a casino host, told him we get free nights in AC so he gave us one free and $169 for the second. Rooms were nice ,gambling ok,no free drinks at VP bar ,not a lot of dining options but a couple of good happy hours at least.

I like going to AC. It's not Vegas, but then again I don't need to fly for five hours to get there either. I get nice comps and I enjoy the beach in the Summer and the Boardwalk year-round. I've bought some nice stuff at the Walk outlets and Playground Pier (formerly the Caesars Pier Shops). I like visiting Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium and the amusement rides on Steel Pier. There are a lot of nice restaurants. I've been to multiple rock shows with Grammy-winning artists at AC venues. The Spa at the Borgata is absolutely amazing. There's a lot of fun to be had in AC. You really need to be the kind of person who enjoys the ocean to appreciate it though.

When did they change the name of the Pier? The Pier had potential but that quickly faded.

This guy named Blatstein bought the Pier and decided to give it a makeover. The focus now is on T-Street, an entire floor of music venues modeled after Beale Street in Memphis with a larger concert hall at the end of the pier where they used to have the fountain show. The concept is solid, but the execution wasn't great last summer, so Blatstein hired some people who run clubs in Philly to run things now, so they are planning a big relaunch this upcoming summer. In the meanwhile, Blatstein just bought the old Showboat and I bet he's going to bring that place back to its musical roots when he reopens it.
