Just got back from trip to Vegas, staying at Treasure Island. I was pleasantly suprised that they still offer 3:2 blackjack at $10 level, and are advertising the fact. I was so tempted to walk up to tables at the mirage and help spread the news :wink2:
Maybe some folks are figuring out that the same people who will play 6:5 will lose just as much at 3:2 since they probably have no idea what "basic strategy" is...

    Cheers!

TI has been pretty solid in keeping lower limit 3:2 on the floor.

I was blown away when Mirage first went to 6:5 and their tables were packed while TI had plenty of seats.

This is sadly common. Hell, at Aria a few weeks ago, there were full $25 6:5 CSM tables directly across the aisle from empty $25 3:2 shoe tables, and empty $50 3:2 S17 tables next to full $50 3:2 H17 tables. To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the average person.

what's the difference if you don't get any BJ in half an hour?
I play at where I feel lucky, not where BJ pays 3:2.

I firmly believe that the average Vegas-goers (Mike and Cathy Smith from Sheboygan, Wisconsin) who would never have even heard the word "basic strategy" will lose the exact same amount of money regardless of whether the table is 6/5 or 3/2. Budgeted $500 to play with this trip? They'll just sit and play until it runs out. It will just disappear a lot sooner on 6/5 - so if they "just want to play a little more", it's off to the ATM to take out an extra $200 or so.

To me, that approach is a matter of turnover (get them in, make them lose faster, make room for the next person to lose). But on the basis of what you're describing, I like TI's approach better because it gives the hobbyist player (as opposed to the average ploppy) a little more play time, as opposed to just ruthlessly extracting money from them.

Yeah, but sure would be more fun to be lucky at the 3:2 table. :)

Or, as Calvera would say, "if the Lord didn't want them sheared, He wouldn't have made them sheep."
    Good luck JeJas.

But if you did get 1 or 2 bjs in a half hour, you would have missed out on real money. Not the theoretical money you would win playing at a worse odds table because it looked or felt lucky. I feel it is your choice to play at any table you want, it is your money. But the reason many here hate to see people make comments like yours is because this is the reason there are more and more tables with worse odds or worse pay tables. And it started at low limit tables but over the years is creeping up higher, and if more and more people think like you, eventually you wont get a table under 100 min with 3/2. And the 10-15 tables will eventually be even money on bjs because why get paid 6/5 if your not going to get any bjs in a half hour. Again though, it is your money and I hope your lucky table detector defies mathematical odds.

This is good news, I hope it works out for TI and they stick with it. I'm also glad to hear that they are advertising their 3:2 games.

If I remember correctly, there was both. But I am not 100% certain.

If you are betting 10 dollars every hand, sure
But, If you are betting 500 a hand and you get a blackjack
Id rather have the 750 rather than the 600

Hey, even if I was betting $10 I'd rather win $15 instead of $12!

true my brother true, but sometimes the only way you can get someone to pay attention is to bring up big numbers and the effect.

What's the difference if you get 3 BJ in a half hour? Quite a bit. But choosing to play 6/5 BJ over 3/2 doesn't make sense. It would be like sitting next to 2 identical slot machines with a sign that showed the payback...and then sitting down at the lower one. Tthat said, its getting harder and harder to find in the same casinos and I get the inconvenience of trying to find 3/2 (although I still do it).

But you are right, play wherever you want!

Have faith people. Our local Casino brought in BlackJack Challenge (Lose your money when the Dealer gets 22,plus a few favourable rules for the Punter) It took a few weeks but eventually even the most ignorant players caught on that they were getting ripped,The beauty of this story is that the Casino had to pay a fee to use this game to it's owner/inventor.The joy l get when l walk by these tables on a busy Saturday night and they are empty of players is fantastic.Joke is,we paid the money so we have to recoup our costs by continuing to use them, even if no one is playing on them.Hopefully the same might happen in Vegas.New Ignoramuses arriving every day by the plane load,l cannot see that happening too soon.
