Apparently the UFC is interested in buying the naming rights to the Arena, which would be very interesting.

    Http://mmajunkie.com/2015/10/ufc-reportedly-could-scoop-up-naming-rights-for-las-vegas-arena-home-of-ufc-200#sthash.wUzPdpZt.uxfs&st_refDomain=t.co&st_refQuery=/Yr6XLVod4z

That new 20,000-seat arena slated to open next year in Las Vegas could reportedly become the UFC Center.
Las Vegas’ CBS affiliate, KLAS, is reporting UFC officials are in talks about potentially purchasing the naming rights for the facility, which is owned by MGM Resorts International and AEG Live

The $375 million facility, which is located near the New York-New York and Monte Carlo casinos along I-15, is slated for an April 2016 opening. A few months later, the arena hosts the historic UFC 200 card, which takes place July 9 and airs on pay-per-view. A UFC Fan Expo is expected to coincide with the landmark card

UFC President Dana White was on hand for the July groundbreaking and raved about the state-of-the-art facility (watch it above).

The naming rights are likely to command a hefty price tag, but for the Las Vegas-based UFC, there’d be no better option.

The arena is expected to host MMA and boxing events, as well as concerts and other special events. A push is also underway for Vegas to get an NHL franchise that would play at the arena.

Currently, the UFC hosts its major Vegas cards at MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center.

    sort of.

they actually haven't hosted a major event at MB in a few years.

they had one minor one there this/last year, but that's it.

every other event for the past few years have been at MGM.

UFC have also started hosting relatively-minor cards at Cosmopolitan. There's a Fight Night event coming up, and I think the next Ultimate Fighter finale is being held there as well.

For the record, I was just copying and pasting what the article said! Wasn't my words.

I have to wonder if this idea would fly though. I mean would the NHL really be alright with their hockey team playing in "UFC Arena". I guess money talks and that's the deciding factor, but it just seems strange.

If and when Vegas gets an NHL expansion team, I can't imagine I'll be the only one to head out there to watch my team of preference play the Las Vegas Rat Pack/MLifes/whatever they wind up being called.

LOL have you ever seen more "secured by" and "verified by" logos on one site?

But at the bottom they admit they aren't affiliated with the arena or casino.

I'll be right behind you. Boston Bruins and LA Kings/Anaheim Ducks are my teams, but if they're not scheduled that week i'll still go to boo the New York teams, the Hawks, and San Jose.
Today was a good day for baseball, Penn & Teller made the New York Met's disappear......LOL.

The "country legend" shirts. They know if they out George Strait's name on their they'd be sued so quickly it'd make your head spin.

Yup. The arena will constantly be filled with fans of the opposing teams.

Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Chicago, Minnesota and Colorado fans will make a mini-vacation out of it once or twice a year.

Not to mention the ones within driving distance: Los Angeles, Anaheim, Arizona, San Jose.

drove in a taxi to Orleans last month. They built a 18,000 arena and there is no parking. anyone going to an event has to park at one of the nearby casinos. Gonna be a cluster f*ck.

Heck yeah. Me being from Minnesota I will plan trips around when the wild are in town. Would be kind of brutal for the players of the Vegas team to be "playing at home" but with everyone cheering for the other teams lol Then again maybe If I visit vegas enough They can be considered my "home team" lol

Absolutely this. There is no way there is enough serious hockey fans in the Las Vegas valley to genuinely support a team there.

But the arena will be full for nearly every game. I would feel sorry for the guys playing on that team; you would never have a home game. Nashville had to come up with goofy ticket policies to keep Blackhawks fans from taking over their arena, for the playoffs. That's an eight-hour drive. Think 'Hawks fans won't get on a plane for four hours to see the 'Hawks and spend the weekend in Vegas?

The Las Vegas NHL team will be immensely popular. But they won't have a following, they'll have an anti-following. If I lived in the area I would get season tickets just to put them on StubHub for visiting fans.

After reading these posts and coments elsewhere, I think if LV does get a team, it will be my #3. Unfortunately the doctor quickly tattooed the leaf to my a$$ shortly after birth and geography has pulled me into the Sabres fold but, I for one will not be the anti fan of a team in LV!
