Where is the best place downtown to get quality comped drinks with genuine brand liquor?
I am partial to a White Russian. Is it possible to get cocktails for free that contain 2 shots of alcohol?

If gambling they are comped except for the tip. I don't get downtown much though and is usually during the day so don't drink while there (keep my drinking to the evenings). Best I've had has been at Monte Carlo, though I'm sure it depends on who's making them. NYNY wasn't bad, but small glasses, lots of ice.

If you play table games in the HL pit at the D or the GG you can get most any premium drink they have available.

I don't drink white Russians, but you may get what you want at the upstairs bar at The D. I'm downtown now and have been playing some video poker there. Great progressive Bonus Poker, and they give me my choice of bourbons when I order a Manhattan or bourbon and ginger ale. Jim Beam and Makers Mark are what I choose, but they've got others as well. They've got a variety of vodkas.

Most casinos have a strict one drink at a time rule for comped drinks, including double shots. You might even end up with double mixer in a tall glass. My best advice is to get comped at the bar, tip the bartenders, then ask your questions.

    I missed this:
Another reason to have Black Russians, Manhattans: no milk, soda, juice to occupy space in the glass. But for faster service, tip your server often and frequently.

I ordered doubles (bourbon and ginger ale) at the Vue Bar at The D the past few days while playing video poker, no problem. Decent stuff too. Always either Jim Beam or Maker's Mark depending on what I requested. It's a small bar, so you watch the make your drink.

I drink more beer than mixed drinks and I honestly have never asked for a double. I usually establish that I am a player, a tipper, and a drinker, in that order. I order the best vodka that they can pour and the rest usually takes care of itself. I'll put the Vue Bar on my to-do list, it was always my brother's favorite spot downtown.

    FullPay,

Ditto on the priorities. My wife and I are max bet video poker players at the 25 cent level (unless we get on a roll, in which case we'll try parlaying), we tip well and we like to always have something in the glass.

The Vue Bar is a great place. The bartenders are a pretty steady group - been there awhile and will remember your face when you come in after several months' absence. They are friendly and will make you just about anything with anything they've got if you tip decently. And of course not everyone does, so that improves their focus on you. About half the bar the other night was slow playing single quarter bets and not tipping (at least that we could see). We had more than enough attention. Bonus Poker is 8/5 Progressive, so well over 99%. Great for a bar game.

Just back from a DT stay, we all like White Russians, ask the cocktail waitress which vodka is available. That's what we did they didn't mind telling us once, we played $5 BJ at Fremont, the D, the plaza, California and MSS. Most offered Ketel One, absolute, or Stoli.

You missed the days of the Western casino home of the "ghetto bar" as they offered beer in either cans or 40 oz bottles and yes they did have old english 800. If you tipped the CW more then a dollar you'd think she saw Jesus.

Or the "old" Gold Spike with the TNT special, which I think was a 40 oz Tecate draft and a shot of awful tequila for $1.50.

Someone on he also suggested that you ask for a "long pore". So, they won't put in 2 shots, but more than just the normal amount.
